I don't know about the quality of these. But seems like a really good price and comes with 4 free gifts as well. Bought one for myself.

Cheers

why did i buy this lol

    • That's what I ask myself every time an Eneloop bargain appears

    • same question.. :)

  • Hi all get in quick. Looks like price error.

    • You didn't say what the price is/was so we don't know what the bargain is.
4 minutes after your comment it states $39.99, is that the price error?

13 seller ratings on Amazon 85% positive, 3rd party seller. doubt this meets the guidelines

    • +3

I don't think it's fair to down vote a seller for only having 13 seller ratings, everyone has to start from somewhere.
There's nothing wrong with being a 3rd party seller.
Finally "you're" unsure it meets the guidelines, so you down vote them, harsh!!

  • I don't know why I got this.

Is this even good to use?
I remember these are usually expensive but unsure if this is the same quality

  • Won't let me add to cart

    • Hi mate it's sold out

  • I bought one from Aldi a few months ago…and am yet to find a practical use for it. My regular flat cast iron pan works better for 99% of things. Maybe if you want some char grill lines on suasages/steak? If i was going to do that, Id just use the BBQ instead.

I use mine all the time for steak, particularly searing a sous vide (ie, don't need BBQ). Useful as you can then do a pepper steak or jus sauce in the same pan really easy.

      • Vs a flat cast iron?

I thought that's what the person was comparing to

      • What particular advantage do you feel the grill pan has over a cast iron fry pan in a sousvide scenario? Genuinely curious since i do quiet a lot of sousvide myself.

I figured the grill pan would take longer to brown the parts not in contact with the grill, meaning your cooking it for longer.

No, as you say, it is really only aesthetic. I was saying on the wanting char grill lines and why I would use instead of a BBQ. I flip between this and a flat pan, cook them the same and it is a tradeoff between more crust vs some a bit softer but with the lines. Both taste practically identical.

          • @greennick: Char grill lines are a bit like racing stripes on a car, seems to only satisfy those who paid for it. (False economy)

            • @netjock: Like I said, aesthetic. Not sure that is a false economy as it doesn't really make a difference one way or the other.

              • @greennick: i would argue its worse for a steak, you want maximum surface contact to get a nice crust evenly distributed. personally not a fan of sous vide steaks, it's great for other things though.

    • Watch Supersize me 2 on Amazon Prime Video. Learnt how to add char grilled lines to anything with a brush. Saved me having to buy a pan.

Low fat cooking. Plus you get bonus carcinogens from the grill marks on the meat.
