Awesome price on even better stemless wine glasses that can also be used for water. They make a great gift at this price, nearest price on the same set I can find in Australia is $134.95 on riedelglass.com.au so $66 is a very good price.

Very delicate yet very hard to break, I swear by them at home and if you're looking for high quality, made in Germany glassware, look no further at this price.

Riedel make great glasses (the average person wouldn't imagine the actual difference the glass can make to the end taste of the wine - very much true but you'd never think it!) and its a great price as well…

BUT….I hate to be 'that guy' but really why you'd want to drink a white wine in a stemless glass is kinda beyond me. You'll be holding it by the vessel and thus heating the wine.

Always a laugh how many 'sophisticated' folks walk around holding their sparkling/whites by the vessel. Philistines! ;-)

Nice price though…….seriously, I went to a really high end wine function many years back and one of the big sponsors was Riedel - did taste tests in their glasses vs generic quality glasses - with the same wine - tasted significantly different. Very surprising….

    • I'm probably a bit of a wine w**ker with a stemware fetish - but even I like the Riedel 'O' series glassware for day-to-day usage. I've found them more robust than stemmed glasses, when knocked over they self right (!) and the wine doesn't seem to suffer from the insult of a warm hand.

At this price (surely there must be a freight charge?), I'd be even more impressed! Not sure about the water - but we've been known to use these for beer. Nice find!

I must admit I use the stemless as water glasses - they're very voluminous and look great.

You're calling someone a 'philistine' for holding a wine glass by the vessel? And YOU are laughing at THEM? Surely as such a suave and cultured individual (taste and refinement must be hanging around you like a mist), you should walk over to them and explain how the heat transmitted from their fingertips, through the glass and into their white wine is subtly (but importantly!) changing the chemical composition of the wine, and how these fractions of degrees (while not noticeable to unrefined rabble like myself) is actually really torturing the delicate bouquet of their drink.

i'll keep drinking out of the tomato sauce jar thanks

  • Dishwasher safe? Are any good wine glasses?

    • +1

We put ours through the dishwasher. Not a problem. The absence of a stem helps.

  • Is it just me, but when clicking through the link I get the price as $US69.99 + an additional $US15.95 delivered…?

    • Make sure to click on the correct size, being Viognier Chardonnay to get the correct price.

      • Not that I'd spend that much on glasses (happy to use DM's standard tasting glasses, about $15 for 6, easily replaced and fit in the dishwasher), but there appears to be multiple sets of 8 Riedel glasses on amazon at about this price. Assuming you care enough to match your glasses to your wine, then surely you need more than 1 type?!? Prices listed do not include shipping:

        Riedel O Viognier/Chardonnay Wine Glass, Set of 6 with 2 Bonus Glasses - $51.50: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0013TVBN2/ref=aw_d_var_2nd_ki…
        Riedel O Mixed Cabernet/ViognierTumbler, Set of 6 Plus 2 Bonus Glasses - $53.95: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001TOCY6O/ref=mp_s_a_3?qid=13…
Riedel Ouverture Magnum Red Wine Glass, Set of 6 plus 2 Bonus Glasses - 54.99: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001EWE8W4/ref=mp_s_a_59?qid=1…

        • None of them ship to Australia unfortunately.

        • I can get them to ship to Australia (~$15), but now all the prices seem to have gone back up a little (i.e. O Viognier/Chardonnay are now $US59 instead of $US51.50)

  • "the average person wouldn't imagine the actual difference the glass can make to the end taste of the wine"

Ah, the power of the mind- beautiful.

But fear not, connoisseurs There is powerful neurological evidence showing that if you believe something is better, because it's more expensive, you will get more pleasure out of it.

    • I'll back up the statement that a nice shaped glass with a thin drinking edge definitely makes the drinking experience more enjoyable even with cheap but properly made glassware.
Harris Scarfe used to (sadly no longer) sell 6x 4780mL wine glasses for $12. They were clearly cheap and they broke at the slightest mishandling, but they were a pleasure to drink from. Undoubtedly better than drinking from cheap, pub style glasses that are built to survive being knocked over.
Making the wine taste better? Maybe not, but putting the mind in the right place to appreciate the taste rather than think about the nastiness of the thick glass.. I can definitely attest to something like that!

      • 4780 mL = 4.780 L

        What a wine glass!

These are also available in the 4 for 3 promotion, making them $55 delivered if you have some friends that want to split them with you.

  • Amazon is telling me they cannot ship to my address - what sort of address did you use to get the shipping quote, I have tried PO Box and street address and it doesn't accept……

Guaranteed to make Bombo Valley rough red taste just like Grange. :-)

If the wine is ordinary in the first place, no glass is going to make it taste any better. Conversely, if it is good wine, the glass is going to make a marginal difference.

  • Note: I've cooked Peter Gilmore's Snow Egg and these glasses are excellent for plating
highly recommend the Riedel's - stemless glass ware. I think Gilmore uses them as well
