Get 10% Cashback Every Saturday in December (Max $30 Back Per Transaction) Using Tap & Pay @ Zip

8761

There seems to be a lot of confusion based on the comments so let me try and clarify how this works:

  1. Sign up to Zip Pay. Not Zip Money. You can use the 'Related Offers' at the bottom of this description for new signup options. Note that you must provide your email address or phone number if you want a referral, there’s no referral link and you can’t be referred without that info!
  2. Download the Apple or Android app and sign in with your details. You will need a smartphone with NFC.
  3. Go to the "Cards" tab within the Zip app. Click on Add to Apple Wallet (or Google Wallet if using android).
  4. Go to any store that accepts tap & go on credit/debit cards. Do not ask if they accept Zip Payment as this is a separate payment method.
  5. Purchase anything (any gift cards, services, goods, literally anything) and checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay by tapping your digital Zip card on Saturday. Do not spend more than $300 in one transaction if you want to maximise your benefit as you won't get 10% back above $300!
  6. You should see the rewards balance reflected under "Rewards" within the "Your Zip" tab of the app immediately.
  7. Once you have reached $30 in credit, click on the redeem button to apply the credit to your account.
  8. Pay off your Zip account by linking a credit card to earn points and defer payment (The screen says debit card but many have confirmed credit cards to work as well - Amex will not work). It takes 3 days for processing payments to finalise and you cannot make additional payments sooner than that.
Things to note:
  • Applying for a Zip account will trigger a credit check.
  • Redeemable once you've reached $30 in credit (I.e. Min spend $300)
  • Rewards balance will continue accruing even if you don't redeem $30.
  • There's no daily limit. The only limit is your credit limit.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay don't have a $100 tap and pay limit like normal cards. The limit is unlimited since you biometrically authenticate yourself at the time of payment.
  • You cannot prepay your zip account via BPAY so that it goes into credit. I contacted Zip and they informed me that since they’re not a bank they’re not allowed to hold deposits. If you prepay your account you will be breaching their T&Cs and your account may get blocked. It will take a few days to unblock. Do so at your own risk, some have reported success while others have confirmed they got blocked.
  • You cannot make payments online.
  • Max $30 back per transaction.
  • Excludes Westfield gift cards purchased from Westfield
  • On days other than Saturday, you can still earn 3% or 5% cash back that will accrue towards your rewards balance.
  • Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more.
  • 10% back on Super Saturdays will override all other cashback offers with lower % back.
  • By end of 8 January 2021, any credit back that has not reached the Reward Goal will be cancelled.

It happened to me, last Friday and just came good today.

        • How long is the bpay reversal back? Do you have to wait for the bpay reversal to complete and call zip again to unblock your account? Can you turn on your PM? Bank told me 30days for bpay reversal and some even want to charge fee.

Did you call your bank for bpay reversal on Friday?

          • @samehada: Got them to waive the fee & if you also paid zip using your cc, they can refund the cc bit to make the balance not overcredit.

      • Why was your account on hold?

  • -2

Just checked my account and last Saturdays $150 bonus has been removed from my account : (
I'm 100 % sure was there last Saturday after mission .

    • I redeemed $120 last Saturday and they are all in the record. You did not redeem them? Why? To jack up limit on Saturday?

    • I don't believe you.

If Zip retrospectively removed the promotional credits, it will have a tsunami of AFCA complaints against it.

HI popsiee, can you reach out to us so that we can look in to this for you? Best would be to submit a ticket and then PM me with the ticket # please. [email protected]

    Party Over Guys

I'll will state I redeemed 5 X $30 to my ac and saw that $150 there ready for use .

Maybe in hindsight I did not see Zip doing this play and I was stupid not to fire the $150 bonus .

    • What's everyone on about? I cashed in 2 X $30 and it deducted it from what I owe in my current ZIP account.

I was wondering where my $10 bonus was, and ZIP just deducted it from what I owe them

    • +1

What do you mean by 'fire the $150 bonus?'

    • So you spent $1500, and got $150 in bonus, you redeemed $150 and now its been taken away completely? Shouldnt they have just taken away 50 instead as you would be entitled to the $100 at the very least?

    • See recent activities

  • -4

Anyway I'm curious of other $150 bonus guys results ?

    Please check and comment .

I've documented everything I can from t@c's to statements .
Don't know why I'm getting negged ( grow up ) but also have access to a contract lawyer .

    • +7

You are getting negged because either you are not telling the complete story or you have serious difficulty telling what exactly happened. Everyone has difficulty understanding you.

  • Can anyone tell me how I can gain from this, that’s if I can get a zip account.
I’m after an item from a store but want to have jb hifi price match, it if they do I can get a discount with jb hifi on gift cards which helps but the other store I’m price matching from I can get the same discount with my Rac.
I just prefer if I can to get from jb if they say yes to price match.

I’m wondering how I could gain from this zip deal and on my plans above, I take this is in store only which I would need to if was getting price match.

Am I right in saying I could buy gift cards for jb hifi with zip and if so the process.

Having coles recently the 15% him cards etc and few others at 10% this probably would have been the best time to have got as like double discount.

Seems when I’m after something the best deals or offers are gone. Yes I did take advantage of the coles him cards but need something replaced now and all offers have ended.

    • So nobody is willing to give me info on how i could benefit from this zip, if not looks like i have to do things without the zip option then.
I can already buy gift cards at 5% with the stores i want to buy item from so really with no promos on with gift cards all im gaining is extra 5%. With this zip thing on saturday.

      • Basically buy JB gift cards via tap and zip in $300 increments with $30 from each transaction rebated to your zip balance.

        • But i could buy 10% gift cards say and not bother with zip correct. But if i can't get 10% cards this zip is another option.

          • @bwatt72: Basically…yes
As you mentioned elsewhere, the real bonus was when the giftcard were also on sale

            • @randomusername2017: Yep i know that now, i just only now need something for house and wishing these gift card deals was still around as this would be a very good option including the zip.
Cant see this gift cards deal coming up anytime soon again.

              • @bwatt72: Noticed some %10 off selected gift card signage going up in Woolworths..also bonus points on selected cards

Thinking about JB ..you could just split payment rather than bother with GC

                • @randomusername2017: I wonder what the 10% gift cards will be for?

Not sure what you mean on split payment so pay part gift cards and card.

The idea was to get jb to price match another retailer and if i can use gift cards at 10% if i can find any win win. I can get 5% anytime.

If jb was not to price match i see that the other retailer gives me 5% off from rac, some how im think gift cards there.
So to be honest im thinking with the retailer im trying to match with i still need to pay the outstanding amount.
After the 5% rac and they take zip as payment so i would gain further from this deal 5% rac and 10% zip.

My question is this is in store only right with zip not online?
If instore what do i need to do?

                  I dont have zip yet.

                  • @bwatt72: Split payment.. if JB will process the transaction in multiple lots of $300 zip payments
Doesn't matter if the other retailer takes zip.. tap and zip is a separate payment method…if you can stack with 5% rac at the other retailer that sounds like the better option
In store only..unless you have apple pay I think
Apply for zip pay, install the app, add zip to gpay(requires NFC device) select zip as payment option in gpay and just tap n pay like a normal credit card
Application for zip took about 5 minutes from start to approval for me.

                    • @randomusername2017: Does a samsung a20 not s20 have nfc yes its a cheap phone my galaxy went dead on me start if the year and i have been happy enough with this a20 for now.
I bet after signing up to zip and adding zip card to google i bet my phone does not support it if so this was all a waste of time.

                      • @bwatt72: Google suggests the a20 has nfc.
Install gpay and find out I guess, probably make sure it doesn't default to samsumg pay.

                        • @randomusername2017: I have gpay i added it earlier so i take if i can then im good, yes gpay is now default. So sounds like im all good.
Unless store does not have tap and go?

Do you know if signing up for the $15 new account if you get some sort of notification it was successful or do you just have to wait it out after your first purchase to see.
As i messed around a little and im now thinking it might not have worked.

                          • @bwatt72: Which retailer and what sort of purchase amount?.. I'd be surprised if they didn't - also set a card pin in the zippay app just in case you need to confirm a tap payment.

I signed up from the same link and still waiting for the credit to appear. No notification or confirmation on sign up.

  • Do I have to generate a tap and zip card for each purchase? Worked on Saturday but today was denied.

  • What’s everyone’s plan for this Sat with no discounted gift cards to stack with? I think mine is

    A) try to prepay my water corp account at Aust Post
    B) Prezzee cards vía their app to allow as many options for later. Buy one and see if it works. If not
    C) 1 Visa card/Amazon/Coles Myer

    • Prezee sounds good.

Did it work for people using Apple Pay last week?

    • +4

You can get The Perfect Gift card instead of Only1 Visa, same fee and it is Eftpos card and you can use it to pay bills at Auspost or many places like Aldi that charge fee for credit card payment or don't accept credit card payment. The cons is you can't use it online.

      • Where do you get that one? Also Coles/Woolies?

      • Have you successfully used these at Auspost?
Seems too easy… fund with credit card …cost $15.90 in fees.. clear $84.10 when you pay the credit card at Auspost using gift cards.
Plus whatever points/signup bonus on the CC.

      • Can you also split pay Only1? So if I get a $500 of either I can split pay the $508? Thanks

        • +1

u can. need to do it with cashier, not the self checkout

      • Seriously? It means you can do the cardception?

        • What’s cardception?

          But yes, i was serious.

I bought $50 JB gift cards with my zip, got the $20 MasterCard promo and used it to pay my zip balance.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/589682

Ended up paying $25 for $50 JB cards, I was bit shy so only got a handful. Got wife to do a few too.

          • @cloudy: Buy the prepaid mastercard from auspost using zip, pay off the zip with the prepaid mastercard, buy the mastercard again, and so on.

    • +1

Don't try this, tried two different prepaid cards, both got declined and my account is now "on hold".

      • I’m curious, which cards did you try?

        • +2

Tried the 'Only 1' and Aus Post prepaid gift cards. Have also previously tried reloadable QF Travel Money without success.

  • Looking to pay bill this week with the offer but got a few questions on my head to make it works. Anyone got experience can help me? ;)
    a) Does Australia Post Gift Card by Mastercard® works on bill that doesn't accept credit card if I went to auspost and pay there?
    b) Where I can find $292.05 the perfect gift card? Highest I can find online is $206.95 from officework.

    • +2

The perfect gift card and only 1 Visa card are variable load cards. You need to specify the amount you wish to purchase.

Basically, you load the card with $292.05 value and pay the $7.95 activation fee. The total comes to $300 so you’ll get $30 back.

Your discount is calculated as (300*0.1-7.95)/292.05=7.55%. If you get less than $292.05 then your discount will be less because your denominator will decrease at a lower rate than the nominator.

      • +1

Cool, didnt know it can be load any amount. Thanks for the info :)

      • +2

this is not optimal for the discount, your best bet is to load the maximum onto the card ($500) so the proportion of the fee become smaller, just split the payment into $300 and $207.

        • Why not $492.05 (+$7.95 fee) instead? So $300 and $200 payments

        • yup i agree, I hadn't realised that we can split it across two payments at the time of writing. I've updated the post.

      • Where do you get variable load perfect gift cards? Just looked in a WW store and they were all fixed amounts, not variable.

        • +1

They may not be availabe at all stores, or sold out. The store I went only have VISA 1 left now.

          • @Neoika: Marginal return vs Wish card isn't worth the effort, I think - I'll just pick up them.

  • +1

Potential Everyday Rewards point bonus with a Prezzee gift card purchase via Apple Pay this Saturday? I’ve got an email with a staggered bonus of a measly 100 points for a $50 purchase through to a slightly less measly 1000 points (2.5%) for a $200 purchase. Have a look at those inboxes, otherwise it looks like slim pickings for discounted gift cards tomorrow.

    • +1

I believe Everyday Rewards promotion is only applicable for online purchase.

  • Will this work in brothels? Asking for a friend

      • +4

        it's actually tap and go!

        • i think it's actually more tap and come

    • +3

use 3 times on the same day to max the benefit

  • -4

Go to any store that accepts tap & go on credit/debit cards. Do not ask if they accept Zip Payment as this is a separate payment method.Purchase anything (any gift cards, services, goods, literally anything) and checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay by tapping your digital Zip card on Saturday. Do not spend more than $300 in one transaction if you want to maximise your benefit as you won't get 10% back above $300!

How do you know if a store has tap and go i thought mosr have if they take cards then surely tap and go?

The place i want to buy an item offers various payments including zip but obviously this deal is not about that.

It says above buy/pay anything and use google pay being im android i think i have this set up but not sure, but would that retailer take google pay as it does not say.

As im new to zip is there not a deal on new sign up? Can i get sign up deal if any and this on saturday.

Please advise on the above. Thanks

I've just found out zip pay do not allow accounts in credit..I transferred funds onto my zip pay account to enable a few extra purchases on Saturday but my account was put on "hold". I was told by customer care that my account was under review this morning but was not told why, this afternoon I was informed a BPay payment that placed my account in credit was in breach of their terms and I needed to lodge a BPay reversal before my account would become usable again. So please take this under advisement if you plan on making extra payments.

    • Thx for sharing this exp. Lucky I did not do it. Otherwise, I would miss out this Saturday 10% cashback shopping.

But what I find in the FAQ says the opposite.

Would like to know where the breach comes from.

      • +1

The following isfrom the email they sent earlier today:

We have identified a large BPAY repayment that has put your Zip account in credit.

Your account being in credit is in breach of Zips terms and conditions. As per Section 8 a) in your Zip Pay contract "You must pay us the Minimum Repayment Amount shown on your Statement by the Due Date shown on your Statement. You may choose to pay more if you wish but you must not put the balance in your Account in to credit."

Please lodge a BPAY reversal with your bank for following payments that were deposited into your account.

        • So you can’t use it today at all?

I think I am on the same boat, gotta call later :(

I knew i could overpay because they credited missing cashbacks that took my balance to credit.

          • @tajid: I tried today..no cigar! Will have to wait till next weekend. Lucky not much in way of deals that I'm missing out on.

            • @running on empty: Yea called many times today & had to call my banks to reverse the bpays which was a huge waste of time. They should at least allow the use of the 1K in the meantime.

      • +2

Per regulations since they’re not an ADI they’re not allowed to hold customer deposits. They may only extend credit to customers as part of their licence.

    • How much did you transfer?

      • +3

$2000 to put my account $1700 in credit

    • +5

Ouch. Thanks for being the canary :(

    • +4

I spoke with Zip on Monday and they told me the same so I avoided doing that. Forgot to update the post after, but have done it now so it doesn’t affect others.

    • Will this be the case if I get a refund and available credit will exceed my limit which is $500?

  • Is there any workaround on prezzee gift card so we can buy with google pay?

Or can I login my acct and add my zippay to partners iphone so i can use apple pay for prezee?

  • I want to pay my bills (water, electricity, strata, council, etc.) tomorrow at Australia Post. When I tried last week, it asked me to "insert my card". Keen to try again tomorrow, and I have heard various tips and not sure what works:
    - Specifically ask for paying by "Visa"
    - Choose the "credit" option and not savings.
    - Each tap and pay can only be for max $100.

Has anyone tried it out and actually worked?

    • It means your bill can't be paid with credit card. Not all billers allow credit card payment at post office.

      • Maybe this is a dumb question, but if the biller has an option to pay by Post Billpay, but you say they don;t allow for credit card payment, then it means I can only pay by debit card?

    • Your best bet might be to buy an eftpos card and use that to pay at AusPost
