Get 10% Cashback Every Saturday in December (Max $30 Back Per Transaction) Using Tap & Pay @ Zip

8761

There seems to be a lot of confusion based on the comments so let me try and clarify how this works:

  1. Sign up to Zip Pay. Not Zip Money. You can use the 'Related Offers' at the bottom of this description for new signup options. Note that you must provide your email address or phone number if you want a referral, there’s no referral link and you can’t be referred without that info!
  2. Download the Apple or Android app and sign in with your details. You will need a smartphone with NFC.
  3. Go to the "Cards" tab within the Zip app. Click on Add to Apple Wallet (or Google Wallet if using android).
  4. Go to any store that accepts tap & go on credit/debit cards. Do not ask if they accept Zip Payment as this is a separate payment method.
  5. Purchase anything (any gift cards, services, goods, literally anything) and checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay by tapping your digital Zip card on Saturday. Do not spend more than $300 in one transaction if you want to maximise your benefit as you won't get 10% back above $300!
  6. You should see the rewards balance reflected under "Rewards" within the "Your Zip" tab of the app immediately.
  7. Once you have reached $30 in credit, click on the redeem button to apply the credit to your account.
  8. Pay off your Zip account by linking a credit card to earn points and defer payment (The screen says debit card but many have confirmed credit cards to work as well - Amex will not work). It takes 3 days for processing payments to finalise and you cannot make additional payments sooner than that.
Things to note:
  • Applying for a Zip account will trigger a credit check.
  • Redeemable once you've reached $30 in credit (I.e. Min spend $300)
  • Rewards balance will continue accruing even if you don't redeem $30.
  • There's no daily limit. The only limit is your credit limit.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay don't have a $100 tap and pay limit like normal cards. The limit is unlimited since you biometrically authenticate yourself at the time of payment.
  • You cannot prepay your zip account via BPAY so that it goes into credit. I contacted Zip and they informed me that since they’re not a bank they’re not allowed to hold deposits. If you prepay your account you will be breaching their T&Cs and your account may get blocked. It will take a few days to unblock. Do so at your own risk, some have reported success while others have confirmed they got blocked.
  • You cannot make payments online.
  • Max $30 back per transaction.
  • Excludes Westfield gift cards purchased from Westfield
  • On days other than Saturday, you can still earn 3% or 5% cash back that will accrue towards your rewards balance.
  • Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more.
  • 10% back on Super Saturdays will override all other cashback offers with lower % back.
  • By end of 8 January 2021, any credit back that has not reached the Reward Goal will be cancelled.

  • I made my first purchase with zip using gpay for item i was after and gift card card to make up to $300.
I see that i now have $30 to redeem i beleive i can do this anytime right?
I see my purchase from today is still pending and i take once its not pending i can pay any amount towards todays purchases to bring it down or even pay off.
Does zip give you the amounts you need to pay or have you to select what or when you want to pay?
Im obviously hoping my $15 new sign up gets paid in within next 14 days but im best not to pay my zip off until thats added.

    • Your account (depending on the limit) will have a minimum amount that you need to pay each month. For $1000 limit this will be $40. If you don't pay the balance of your statement off by the end of the next month you will incur a monthly fee. If making a manual payment you can pay any amount, but note that this will not lower the end-of-month minimum payment unless you have no balance left to pay off.

      • Is the "minimum amount that you need to pay each month" an automated payment? Mine is also $40 (as I have a $1000 limit), but I have already paid off a couple hundred dollars this calendar month, yet it is still indicating that I have a $40 minimum payment due at the end of the month.

I see that i now have $30 to redeem i beleive i can do this anytime right?

Redeem it and see if it goes to your ac immediately .

Or disappears in thin air to be added sometime( I hope ) to your ac in the next 2 weeks . That is me

    • My purchase today is still pending so maybe im best waiting till it not and then redeem

  • For the "$492.05 EFTPOS giftcard and Only 1 Visa giftcard - Variable Load", I think you can go for $500 + $7.95 straight way and then split the payment into $300 + $207.95. You can still get $30 + $20.8 credits. That is what I did today. Not sure why need buy like $492.05 + $7.95. Please correct me or share lights on. Much appreciated.

    • My real purchase was : 3 X $492.05 + $7.95 paid by 5 X $300 split payments to get my max bonus of $150 .

If I didn't do that way I would have not maximised my bonus potential whilst paying the less card fees .

      • Thanks for sharing. So the point here is to max the credits to be redeemed? Coz I thought, as long as we get credits no mater reach each $30 or not. We still get credits back storing in our accounts. But from what you’re saying, it seems the best way to get exactly 5 x $30 and can be redeemed immediately.

  • Bit weird. Signed up for Zip yesterday for this deal and used the $50 spend for $15 zip credit deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/586721. Just tried to buy a $300 prezzee gift card but apple pay failed. Re-read the post and saw you need to buy in $100s, so bought a $100 prezzee card and got a notification from Zip I had earnt $30 credit. Went and redeemed that, bought 2x more $100 prezzee GCs and got the $30 credit again and redeemed that.

Question is sure I tried $300 payment, zip still shows that as it hasn't reversed yet which is why I got the initial $30 credit. But after buying another 3x $100 GCs I got another $30 credit and was able to redeem that again?

EDIT. Did I just derp the deal and it is max $30 credit per transaction but you can make multiple transactions?

    • +1

You don't need to buy $100 prezee cards. $300 cards work just fine. Not sure why apple pay failed for your $300 purchase and not sure why it would show up in zip if it wasn't successful… something weird going on there.

EDIT: Yes it is max $30 credit pre transaction and you can make multiple transactions.

      • Just tried again with the $300 several times and keep getting an error. Also tried $200 and same error. Back to $100 and it worked fine. Might have something to do with zip pay meant to be a tap payment and max $100?

        • Bought 3x$300 prezee w/Zip + Apple Pay, no problem.

          • @ely: Hmmm must be me then. Maybe because it is a new account I created Friday and I have some sort of restriction?

            • @knobbs: I don't know - not just you, I've seen many in this thread mentioning issues, but it's also clearly not an absolute limit on $300 transactions because they're fine for me. This poor guy can't even get the $100s to work now, seems pretty random.

  • One more Saturday to go, and Boxing Day Sale day no less!!!

  • +1

Thread carefully in buying gift cards next week. Make sure you reach the $30 Reward increment, otherwise you'll lose the Reward after the deadline.

    • +2

5% cashback at BP is available until 8th January. If you don’t reach $30 increment next week, you can use that to reach $30 by 8th January.

      • Good tip. Don't know if BP sells gift cards (their fuel is generally expensive but I currently have 3x points / 5x points BP Rewards offer).

        • +1

they do. i brought 3x100 last week.

        • +1

I bought all the last Amazon cards at 1 BP today 🤣🤣🤣

    • +1

There is still the 3% promotion.

    • does not matters, you can always buy those wish gift card to round your $30. not a big deal. last day is 8 jan.

      • It is not cost effective to do that with just 3% cashback

        • well 3% is not as good as 10%, but better than 0%, you are not going to use zip between 27 dec to 8 jan? even once, then you will still need to find a way to round to 30. anyway , that's easy.

        • Correct.

As I've said, maxing out your zip balance can result to having $29 of expired Reward, which is equivalent to buying $290 of gift cards with $0 benefit.

  • After purchasing $300 prezzee gift card I can no longer buy any more.

$300 or $100 gift card continually fail with Apple Pay.

Is there a $300 limit per day or something?

    • I've seen quite a few people mentioning problems, but worked fine three out of three $300s for me.

    • Hmm got 2x$100 then 1x$300 Prezzee gc then fails… anyone else?

    • I think it is kind of random, keep trying, try both logged in as as a guest

    • I cant get any value of amazon or swap cards on Prezzee to work

  • `^ ing shame no prepaid Paypal cards in this country : (
I really would have got them .

  • Does anyone know if there's a way to add the Zip virtual card to WearOS Google Pay?

  • today i went to a fuel station, saw they have amazon gc, asked for 2x100. paid with zip got $20 back, however due to system error or something, they were unable to activate those cards,in the end got refund to my credit card. in this case, i think the zip transaction should still be processed, and i got $20 for not buying anything??? never think about this before.

    • If this is refunded back to Zip then there will be negative cashback (had faced couple of instances where gift cards failed to activate so was refunded back to Zip card).

      • that's ture, normally it refund to the orginal card. however i am not sure if google pay with zip could do refund and i was in harry. so i used my credit card. seems like the staff did not care at all.

        • Yes just tap as usual and refund will go through (have done it already). But you did a smart thing - that way your regular credit card outstanding will reduce and you still get to keep Zip cashback.

  • I have got an error when redeeming the $30 reward. Anyone else had the same issue?

    • not yet

    • No issues - redeemed one sometime back.

    • My second just errored as well. Maybe they ran out of rewards!

    • Yep me too

    • It is working again now without me doing anything. I guess they may have bugs in the system.

      • +1

Apparently maximum of 6 rewards redemptions per day, so just gotta wait I suppose.

        • Yep Was advised the same too

  • Any other remote way since prezzee is stuck now? CBf leaving the house

    • Just noticed Prezzee stuck too after the first $300 purchase

      • Same issue. Smaller amounts worked

    • +1

$100 prezzee worked….but my rewards counter not showing the extra $10…previously the rewards came up immediately …scratch that. Just did. Maybe they getting smashed as last minute punters trying

      • Yep. Just tried and lower values are working. Yeah, same the $10 rewards would pop up as a notification but not appear in the zip app.

  • Next Saturday it's Boxing Day, so it's good for some people who attend sales!

  • +1

Tap and paid 3 x $257 visa giftcard just now at coles but there is not rewards at all?

    • I'm having the exact same issue!

      • +1

Just bought something else. No rewards either. Something wrong with their system?

        It worked last weekend

        • It was actually still working for me this morning when I bought 5 x $257 gift cards, rewards showed up and redeemed with no issue. But just now it didn't work. Checked the T&Cs which definitely said up until midnight AEDT.

          • +1

@PointsFiend: It was mentioned earlier somewhere the start and end times were a bit bugged and to tread carefully if buying close to those hours
But I would just contact Zip Help/Support, they seem to be manually adjusting rewards/credit, etc

            • @dorikin: Thanks for the heads up - I actually just checked the app now and it seems to have come through!

  • Anyone here got this deal combined?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/591328
this $10 credit doesn't show up for my first tap n zip payment. end up paying $1800 bills at post office in nine separated sessions. redeemed all $30 credits

It works online, c&c service is an extra $5 though

        • I didn't receive this email. Can anyone share the email screenshot please? Thanks

    • how can u use discount code in store? Thanks

    • What is this promotion? Didn’t see it within Zip app

Something I’m considering next week: local shopping centre (e.g. Westpoint Blacktown) gift cards which are EFTPOS and only have a $1.50 activation fee. If $298.50 is loaded on a gift card, it’ll be a $300 transaction which qualifies for a $30 reward but has a slightly less 9.5% discount ($28.50/$300) that can be used in the next 36 months when another stackable gift card sale comes along.

My reasoning (happy to be corrected!!!): I’ve been given several Westpoint gift cards in the past few weeks and was able to buy TCN gift cards both at Big W and Woolies (in the centre) when they had the 10% off. If a deal like that comes around again in the next 36 months, it’ll be 18.55% off!

Also, I had $10 left on one gift card today and was at Bunnings Blacktown (which is definitely not in the shopping centre, hahaha) and thought I’d try the card considering it’s an EFTPOS card and it worked!

I had a look at the Westpoint gift card terms and conditions and it says retailers across Australia may accept the EFTPOS card but it’s ultimately up to the retailer so that’s definitely a risk I’m still weighing up…

    • +2

They are just EFTPOS, working in almost all stores. Most big shopping centres have similar cards. The key is to wipe out the balance fast if you made an outside-center-purchase, before they get suspended.

    • -1

The zip promo T&C specifically mentions that Westfield gift card is excluded

      • +1

He’s saying Westpoint. I misread at first as well, that’s why I deleted my comment.

    • $1.50 activation fee is low. Auspost fee is $5.95.
      https://auspost.com.au/money-insurance/buy-gift-cards/auspos…

      • This Auspost giftcard is really rubbish, many online transaction got declined by their system and it block the card. One example is the WW discount gift card portal. If you plan to buy this card to get discount giftcard it may not work. So be prepared.

        • -4

I thought it was common knowledge that you cannot purchase a gift card with a gift card?

          • +1

@YesPleaseThankYou: Not with the prepaid Coles Prepaid Mastercard/Only1 visa. You sure have no idea what you are talking about.

            • @samehada: Yup! I would say that Coles Prepaid MC is probably one of the most versatile card. Can the Coles Group & Myer GC be used to buy Coles Prepaid MC? Can I also buy a $300 Coles Group & Myer GC and use it to buy 3x $100 Coles Group & Myer GC later?

  • I bought $500 Wish Card yesterday. Can I buyThe Perfect Gift Card at Woolworths and pay by using Wish Card?

    • +2

No you can't use wish gift card to buy gift card anymore.

  • No.

  • My understanding is I have to clear my outstanding/owing balance at the end of each month to avoid the monthly fees. Is the end of each month just the end of calendar month?

    • +1

Calender month. Your statement to be issued bf 5th Jan will have details on it.

    • pay the minimum required and wait for the statement..

  • -1

How do you guys able to purchase prezzee gift cards and get this promo?
Is it just use prezzee app, then enter the zippay visa card details?
I just don't understand how to pay using apple pay when purchasing via prezzee app

    • Bottom left next to checkout there’s an apple pay logo

    • +1

Just entering the visa card details will not get you the cashback

      • i see it now
        thanks!

  • For those who tap and zip in Woolworths on Saturday, have your transactions cleared and able to make extra repayments today? I tapped on Saturday at 4.30-5:00pm and they are still pending.

    • +1

Yeah woollies took almost 4 days to process, whilst Target processed the next day.

    • +2

Of course not. It was the weekend. Tonight is the first opportunity for overnight transaction processing, which only occurs on a weekday.

Based on my experience last week, the transactions will post after overnight processing tonight. Expect to be able to make a repayment from sometime tomorrow morning.

      • My Woolworths transactions have posted, as expected. That is, after one night of overnight processing.

  • +1

so is everyone paying off their Zip account in full to be ready for the coming Sat onslaught?

    • +1

Yes you can pay on Saturday morning.

  • Anyone done a bpay to increase their credit limit recently? I only want to put an extra $300 so I think I should be fine as long I don't go overboard but I don't want to risk it unless someone's already done it.
