Get 10% Cashback Every Saturday in December (Max $30 Back Per Transaction) Using Tap & Pay @ Zip

8761

There seems to be a lot of confusion based on the comments so let me try and clarify how this works:

  1. Sign up to Zip Pay. Not Zip Money. You can use the 'Related Offers' at the bottom of this description for new signup options. Note that you must provide your email address or phone number if you want a referral, there’s no referral link and you can’t be referred without that info!
  2. Download the Apple or Android app and sign in with your details. You will need a smartphone with NFC.
  3. Go to the "Cards" tab within the Zip app. Click on Add to Apple Wallet (or Google Wallet if using android).
  4. Go to any store that accepts tap & go on credit/debit cards. Do not ask if they accept Zip Payment as this is a separate payment method.
  5. Purchase anything (any gift cards, services, goods, literally anything) and checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay by tapping your digital Zip card on Saturday. Do not spend more than $300 in one transaction if you want to maximise your benefit as you won't get 10% back above $300!
  6. You should see the rewards balance reflected under "Rewards" within the "Your Zip" tab of the app immediately.
  7. Once you have reached $30 in credit, click on the redeem button to apply the credit to your account.
  8. Pay off your Zip account by linking a credit card to earn points and defer payment (The screen says debit card but many have confirmed credit cards to work as well - Amex will not work). It takes 3 days for processing payments to finalise and you cannot make additional payments sooner than that.
Things to note:
  • Applying for a Zip account will trigger a credit check.
  • Redeemable once you've reached $30 in credit (I.e. Min spend $300)
  • Rewards balance will continue accruing even if you don't redeem $30.
  • There's no daily limit. The only limit is your credit limit.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay don't have a $100 tap and pay limit like normal cards. The limit is unlimited since you biometrically authenticate yourself at the time of payment.
  • You cannot prepay your zip account via BPAY so that it goes into credit. I contacted Zip and they informed me that since they’re not a bank they’re not allowed to hold deposits. If you prepay your account you will be breaching their T&Cs and your account may get blocked. It will take a few days to unblock. Do so at your own risk, some have reported success while others have confirmed they got blocked.
  • You cannot make payments online.
  • Max $30 back per transaction.
  • Excludes Westfield gift cards purchased from Westfield
  • On days other than Saturday, you can still earn 3% or 5% cash back that will accrue towards your rewards balance.
  • Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more.
  • 10% back on Super Saturdays will override all other cashback offers with lower % back.
  • By end of 8 January 2021, any credit back that has not reached the Reward Goal will be cancelled.

Is it a different promo with 3% cashback for $1000 spent in tap or we can combine it to reach $30?

    • Wonder if it stacks.

      • +1

It doesn't. This what see in Zip:

*Max $30 back per transaction. 10% back on Super Saturdays will override all other cashback offers with lower % back.

For more information, check out the T&Cs.

        • I just spend $1500, when to get the credit? where is the redeem button to click in zip app?

          • +1

            @jjj123: I got it instantly….
Redeem under the Your Zip menu

            • @avoidfullprice: question, i repaid my Saturday account balance, but it still says : remember , the minimum payment of $40 will still go ahead in 60 days? Although the balance is zero now?

    • +7

I believe it adds to that balance, but only the 10% will apply on Saturday and not 13% or 15% (I have a 5% cash back instead of 3%)

      • I love you Doogie Howser! MD of my childhood!

      • NPH has a great CYOA autobiography as well.

      • +1

        how do you have 5%?

      • -2

        Deal all professional Ozbargainers,
Gift card cashbacks are not simply stacked.
The rule is you can only withdraw for every $30.
In marketing, this is not the same as direct discount.
        For instance:
        Woolworths 10% 19%
Only when you can spend 300 giftcards in one transaction, it is considered as 19%.
If you only purchased $100 worth of gift card, you could have $9 back, but you cannot withdraw it.
That means if you don't use zip anymore, you get 0 back.
If you use zip later on, but cannot always round up to $30, then the residual amount is undiscounted.
If you try to meet $30 goal, then you fall into the $30 fallacy to use after pay more.
You try to save more, but you spend even more.

        • Then this isn't really a true cash back but merely a cash reward scheme.

These deals are awesome, don't get me wrong. But how is this not misleading in a way? Clearly the marketing says cash back yet it's a reward that has conditions to redeem.

    • Might be a zip pay vs zip money thing? I have the 3% offer in my app, and when I go to 'Cards', it asks me to apply for a Zip Pay account. No indication of the 10% offer in my app.

    • Can combine

  • +3

*Max $30 back per transaction. 10% back on Super Saturdays will override all other cashback offers with lower % back.

    • override cash rewards?

      • only 10% will be applied on saturdays in dec

      • +4

I am confused by this question.
What does cashrewards have to do with it if the offer is only instore?
Maybe I am misunderstanding how cashrewards can be used.

        • cashrewards works in some stores too. check their website

        • +2

but you have to use the associated bank card, meaning you can't get the cake and eat it

    • Zip may run other Reward Goal credit back promotions which can be used in combination with this promotion to earn your Reward Goal. However, the use of your Tap & Zip on Saturdays in December cannot be used in conjunction with other % credit back promotions (i.e. this promotion will be applied automatically on Saturdays in December and any other % credit back promotions will not be applied in conjunction with this one). Zip will ensure that the most favourable % credit back promotion will be applied on any given day, but not in combination with one another.

      • how to refer a friend ?? can anyone help me please, can't find anywhere.

        • From zip app… Not everyone has the function

      • I'd bank on Zip doing exactly that, morphing into a combination between payment provider, credit provider, and reward monger. Expect the banks to try and outlaw companies like Zip very soon.

  • Only applies to payments at terminal?

    • Yes

  • Not coming up under my account, could this be targetted?

    • It showed up as a notification on my phone. It doesn't say anywhere that it is targeted.

      • Ok, I got the notification now, I guess it is not targetted.

  • great offer. time to stack on up on gift cards.

Buy a Visa prepaid Gift card on Saturday, that gives you 10% off.

With that Visa GCcard buy Amazon GC from Suncrop app 3% off.

You save $13 for every $100.

        • Which Visa prepaid gift? Most of them come with a purchase fee of at least $5.95.

        • no 5.95 fee for those visa prepaid gift card? i know coles has 5.95 for 100 prepaid mastercard

          • @ce5himm: every visa prepaid has activation fee.

Best value is Coles $250 prepaid master card, with $7 activation fee and then you add a coles myer GC for $43 to round up to $300, get $30 cashback. the mastercard prepaid is about 7% saving.

            easy…

            • @simba-au: Woolworths allows split pay for giftcard so that you can load to the max($507.95) and pay twice.

    • Same here. But what zip does right now is burning money.

      • +2

It’s all about changing the customer habits and getting them used to use zip as a payment method. How else can they get market share from afterpay. And they will make more from increase share price.

  • is it $30 per account or you can redeem everytime you earn $30? i know the max $30 per transaction.

    • +1

*Use Tap & Zip instore to get 10% credit back on any eligible transaction, up to a maximum limit of AUD$30 per transaction, redeemable when you reach the Reward Goal (“Offer”). This Offer is only available on Saturdays in December (every Saturday in December 2020, being 5, 12, 19 and 26 December 2020 between 12:00am (AEDT) and 11:59pm (AEDT) on each of these Saturdays) ("Offer Period").

seems to be there is no limit to how many times you can get the $30 credit.

      • +5

than it is easy, just buy gift card instead of product over $300. buy 3x$300 jb gift card, get 3x$30 cashback, pay an ipad air with those $900 gift card. if you do not have those 15% off gift card of course.

        • buy 3$300 amazon gift card, get 3$30 cashback. then use the $900 credit for as long as you can.

so it's more like an investment instead of unnecessary spending.

or Woolworth and coles, cuz you have to buy grocery anyway.

        • even easier - bypass gift card and just split payment on item over $300 and use zip pay for each. eg $550 pay zip $300 then $250 -get $55 back.

          • @Captain Hindsight: The thing is maybe the product I want to buy is not in stock at this moment. And gift card can be used at many retailers. Not just one off shopping. Plus I do not know what I am going to spend 1000 every week for 4 weeks. So gift card is taking full advantage for future use.

          • @Captain Hindsight: does this work?

    • +1

Max is $30 per transaction, you can split payment ;) but the limit will be just your credit limit since you can't add more fund until transaction is cleared which is at least the next day and better don't spend much on the Friday because it may takes 2 days for the pending transactions to clear.

The maximum limit you can get on Zip Pay is $1000 and you can increase it to $1500 after 6 months, so the maximum cashback you can get is $150 with $1500 credit limit x 4 Saturdays that is $600 total for December.

      • You can payoff everyweek. You will have 4x1000 credit to use for Dec.

      • +4

P.S: Actually it is more since you can redeem the cashback instantly and spend that as well. So with $1500 max credit limit you can spend $1500 + $150(cashback) on Saturday.
For example: if you have the max $1500 credit limit
        - 1st Saturday - spend max $1650 - with left over $15 cashback
        - 2nd Saturday - spend max $1680 - with left over $3 cashback
        - 3rd Saturday - spend max $1650 - with left over $18 cashback
        - 4th Saturday - spend max $1680 - with left over $6 cashback

So this is the max cashback with max credit limit for zippay account.

        • I have zip money with 2k limit. Is it applicable for zip money as well? Thanks.

        • Good summary, but there is a repayment option: BPAY.

Not sure if I BPAY $3000 ahead, so I can spend the limit plus $3000 on Saturday?

          • @Neoika: try it.

          • @Neoika: let us know if your bpay show up in the balance tomorrow.

            • @samehada: I did not do it. My account was locked today due to the repayment from the 3rd CC. I had to contact Zip to unlock it. Luckily, they were pretty efficient in unlocking my account so that I can enjoy the offer tmr.

I think overpaying too much may cause account lock too.

              • -1

@Neoika: I just checked it, there is NO Bpay option to pay back zippay, the only option is your linked credit card, so there is no way you can pay more than your credit limit.

                • +3

@samehada: There is. In the App, choose make an additional payment and the next screen has a link "Pay By BPAY" that shows your account Biller code and Ref No.

                  • @Neoika: I've just joined. I dont think this is an option for newly created accounts?
I can only see down the bottom

Shop > Search + Promos and Ads
You Zip > Your Pay Balance /Rewards / BPAY you bills with Zip
In-Store > Zip Pay instore QR /Tap and Pay
Cards > Your ZipPay Virtual card

Settings > Manage Zip pay and you can only add or remove your credit card

                    • +1

@pegasusx: The option is faded till you have owing balance.

                      • @Neoika: Gotcha. Too soon. Need another 1200 for pressies

PS. Wondering if you can pay it off using a Credit card(Surchage)? and not a Debit card or BPAY?

              • @Neoika: Confirmed from a friend that overpaying will cause Zip account locked (on hold). They were advised by Zip to contact bank and reverse the BPAY transaction to get their Zip account reinstated.

          • @Neoika: you have to zip and tap in store. BPAY doesn't work

            • @SheepshearingReyrey: Talking about increasing limit by overpaying Zip account. Many people are whinging about the 1k or 1.5k limit.
