100% Cashback on Private Internet Access @ Cashrewards

1030

Browsing for more VPN offers and found this. Looks like no one shared yet so here it is.
Enjoy :)

Cashback is eligible for new Private Internet Access customers only.

Cashback may be ineligible if a coupon code is used that is not listed on this site.

Cashback is calculated and paid on the advertised cost of the plan only. It will not include any GST, taxes, credit card or PayPal surcharges.

The AUD amount that tracks to your Cashrewards account may differ to the paid amount due to international exchange rates. Your initial payment is converted to USD, then converted back to AUD when reported to us. The advertised cashback rate is based on the reported amount, not the paid amount. Cashrewards has no control over this process.

Risk Free 30 day money back guarantee is offered by Private Internet Access, and not Cashrewards.

How long do you get 100% cashback for?

  • +3

How does the 100% cashback work? Is it for entire plan or for the first month? If I select the 3 years plan which is $109 will I be getting the $109 back or only the first months money back. Thanks.

    • +3

Cashback amount should based on how much you paid?I paid for 3yrs=$109, waiting for CR estimate notice email.

      • +2

It's my understanding that Cashback is calculated on the total price minus GST. At least that's my experience with returns from other stores.

        • Also will get done on a poor exchange rate, so won't be 100 percent.

        • +1

I got the cashback and that cash back didn't consider any GST for amount - GST.

They didn't deduct GST in my case with cash rewards.

        • So for the 3 years $109, how much do we pay after cashback?

    • +2

Any plan. Best to get 3 years :)

Remember PIA isn’t who they use to be.

I knew this deal is too good to be true. What are you using now?

    • +14

Wow that post is major bullshit scaremongering, all of those "third parties they share your data with" are just related to the operation of the website and have zero to do with the VPN product.

I had an audible laugh when he was saying they share your VPN browsing activity with Stripe, that's clearly just for processing card payments on their website….

100% cash back seems too good to be true.

  • +1

Is it possible/advisable to buy with a US or other address to avoid GST or something similar to this?

    • +1

I think GST application comes based on what card you use for payment.
If you use Australian card then GST will come.

If you use any other countries payment card then cash rewards might not work!

      • Would be based on billing address rather than your card. The payment has to be calculated prior to charging your card.

  • +3

Any significant difference between this and the CyberGhost one from ShopBack?

  • +5

I use PIA. If you want to access foreign Netflix services, it's not for you. My sub is up soon and I won't be renewing. Though, for the cashback rate, seems really good.

    • +1

I am able to access netflix on one of the German servers, but only if I use "Wireguard" connection protocol

  • +4

Hope no one is expecting privacy out of these VPNs

    • +2

I was browsing Pornhub with Surfshark VPN and it kept locking out my account for accessing in too many locations simultaneously. I'm guessing it just randomly routes you p2p every request you make rather than locking the server you picked since it kept using different IPs. There's some argument for security there.

if you're not paying for the product, you are the product

      Like the comparethemarket.com meerkat?

      • +2

        Indeed! but my comment stands.
Oit of interest, what is their business model if they provide the service for free?

        • They give the service for free and expect you to use it. When your friends/family ask you what VPN are you using the 100% cashback isn't available for them so they take out the free trial and hopefully convert to paying subscription.

        • The collect browsing analytics and sell them on, hopefully anonymized.

    • +1

Yeah, worse yet, they get all of your info and reject your cash back anyway, it is what happened to my stuff.

  • Bought with PayPal and it used my PayPal email which I do have a PIA account (1 year left).

So how does it work? I was issued a new username and password.

Thinking might not be eligible so might cancel before 30 days.

    • I know it's only been a few days and not the whole week yet, but has yours tracked yet? I'm in the same situation as you, except I just found an old login with my e-mail from 3~ years ago, not a current sub.

      • mine tracked but im going to cancel it. not going to risk it being denied later.

Since cashrewards doing the thing again. i would suggest using a different email and don't use paypal as it jumps straight to the paypal linked email… which is what got us into this problem in the first place. good luck !

        • Mine still hasn't tracked so I might just cancel it. I have a NordVPN subscription from a 90% cashback offer earlier this year, so it's not like I won't have a VPN I guess.

  • This site can’t be reached www.kqzyfj.com’s server IP address could not be found.

    Try:

    Checking the connection

Checking the proxy, firewall and DNS configuration

    Running Windows Network Diagnostics

    ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED

It seems after clicking the shop now button, the webpage want to go through this address,
and I have been blocked by some where in the channel.
Looking at the domain name, I'm not very comfortable to buy something there.

    • +2

For me ublock origin (the ad blocker I use) blocked it and gave the reason…..
Found in: Peter Lowe’s Ad and tracking server list
….so its just ad tracking or wotnot. Disable your adblocker (as suggested by the cashback site) and if that doesnt work then try disabling your antivirus/firewall.
Everyone is so terrified of being tracked for ads they block that stuff these days, I wouldnt worry about it unless your scared you might get a personalized ad.

      • I completely disabled everything and it still didn't load. Tried Chrome/Firefox with no extensions as well

        • Weird. Try changing the ip of your DNS? Like use a different DNS.

          • @PAEz: Tried that too, ended up just quickly installing the Cashrewards extension and it said it activated the 100% cashback when I visited the site.

            • @ichigo15: Sweet, didnt even know there was an extension. Good to know if theres any other probs.
Tempted to get it myself due to the price, but Ive been really happy with Surfshark so dont know if Ill bother.
I really only use it to get better overseas connections and its been great for that, great speeds, smooth streaming from where ever…..my isp can be crap for overseas connections otherwise.

  • And here I thought the 91% and 92% cashbacks were too good to be true…

How does it compare with Nord VPN?

    • I get dropouts more frequently with PIA than Nord. Nord has more servers also. I stopped using PIA after I got Nord.

I believe PIA is headquartered in the US, while Nord is in Panama. Panama is better than the US imo. Since we and the US are part of 5 eyes, I really don't trust your privacy with a US based VPN.

      • +1

PIA at least is one of the few VPNs that has been court tested as not logging anything.

        • -1

I still don't trust them, sorry. Even if true, anything can change.

You can't run a business without logging at least something.

    • +1

I've used PIA for quite a while now with no problems. I did look at Nord last time when my PIA was up for renewal. Installed their client and timed out trying to run a speedtest. So I stayed with PIA

  • can you extend an existing subscription with it?

    • You can't extend existing subscriptions however others in the past have had PIA support to combine two seperate accounts into one.

  • newbie question, apart from privacy and the fact we take great pride in scoring ridiculously cheap deals through ozb, what do you guys use it with?

    cheers.

    • If you don't know why you need it, you don't need it.

    • +2

VPNs are not just about privacy and security.
You use them to get around geographical pricing structures that exist with say Netflix for example. By connecting to a VPN server located in eg. Turkey and then visiting the Netflix page and subscribing you can get the cheaper subscription.

Previously and many years ago before Netflix clamped down on VPN/proxy access you could easily connect to a PIA (eg. US server) and watch Netflix.com movie/tv offerings which were different from Australia (eg. normally newer movie releases were accessible but not found in the AU catelogue).

Also a VPN is a must when using free wifi in Hotels / Airports as this adds an encryption layer and makes your data private. You can read up more information via Google on the advantages of having a VPN.

Also free giveaways may only be available to users in a specific country (they check that by looking up your connecting IP address) like free PC games.

    Tracked in 3 hours.

    Paid AU$109
    Tracked $105.50
    Amount: USD 80.41*
*May not include delivery, taxes, surcharges, GST and other fees.

    So it's $3.5 for 3 years.

Still have 1.5 years subscription with NordVPN. Have been very happy with NordVPN speed and reliability, except they removed their SOCK5 servers recently. Anyone has a long time experience with PIA, and why do you like/dislike them?

    • I got the same cashback too

    • +1

I get frequent drop outs. Computer thinks there is no internet connection. This happens occasionally with Nord also but not nearly as frequently.

      • Is PIA or Nord your favourite?

Do you use PIA MACE? How good is it in blocking ads, trackers and malwares?

Nord can block most ads, but at the same it often blocks a lot of legitimate websites.

Do you use SOCKS5 servers? I used to use Nord's Socks5 servers with Adguard for both privacy and ad blocking, until recently they removed most/all of their Socks5 servers

        • sorry, this stuff is over my head. I just use it to hack US elections and blame it on Russia.

I've used Nord exclusively after getting it. PIA doesn't even work anymore. Having two VPNs installed seems to interfere with the other and I can't connect. I get errors.

I don't block ads because a lot of sites refuse to work at all if their ads don't play. Either they won't let you see the content, or the video won't play because it needs to play an ad first and that ad never plays. I have browser based ad blockers, and one browser dedicated to sites where ad blockers mess with them (Shopback/CR is one example).

          • @lostn: Same, I use Chrome only for CR/SB, no ad blockers, only HTTPS always on & Cookie "auto" delete turned off, but do it manually every few hours.
On FF, I used cookie auto delete, Ublock Origin (turn off Java script when needed on sites), disconnect and Decentraleyes.
            Looking into Brave soon.

Still using Surfshark (3 year promo), no real issues yet.
I haven't played around with much of the settings/options yet, still kinda new to using VPN's & SS is my first.

    • +1

i'm getting multiple dropouts a day now. would not recommend pia. Have to manually disconnect and reconnect PIA server. PIA used to be more reliable

      • Do you use PIA MACE? How good is it in blocking ads, trackers and malwares?

Nord can block most ads, but at the same it often blocks a lot of legitimate websites.

  • I've been using PIA for quite a few years. Given it's new privacy what's a good alternative? Nord?

    • As far as cheap ones (from 90% cashback), Nord is your option. ExpressVPN is good but expensive. And then there's Torguard but I haven't seen deals on Torguard in a long time.

      • +1

I was previously with PIA, then they started having issues, so I went with Nord, and Nord is absolutely abysmal. Feels like a bunch of cobbled together VPS's instead of a proper service. For example, they took down all their Socks5 proxies with no warning at all, then support advised some working addresses, but these seem to change every few weeks and speeds can vary greatly.

Just signed up to Torguard using the 50% off code on this site, and it's much faster without hundreds of bloated servers.

  • +1

I would be very hesitant with this, because the first cashback i tried with them got rejected when I did everything right as per their conditions, never used them again, shopback isn’t good either as i found some of my old claims got rejected for no reason either because they were fine as usual but be big amounts all got rejected.

  • Mace doesn't seem to do anything now. I don't think it's been updated in years. It never was very good. It basically doesn't block ads, but for some reason it did randomly work with twitch app on phone

  • +4

PIA was bought out by Kape technologies last year, a company that literally used to make adware. Google them and then think about why would they offer 100% cashback…

    • everyone has a price it seems.

  • +1

If you did subscribe, make sure you turn off the auto-renewal in the accounts setting.

    • Great tip. That's how they would get us

  • On my Paypal transaction it is showing $109 being taken from my credit card but on my credit card it's showing this:

PAYPAL *PRIVATEINTE 402-935-7733 $112.27(maybe due to currency exchange?)
    Computer Network/Information Services

On my Cashrewards I am seeing a refund for $105.67
