Thanks, bought to replace an old tube tv ;P
Use this till I can afford something bigger. Just wanted something with hdmi and all the tvs that are cheap are awful and you cant get 32inch full hd tvs much at all.
Full HD for 27 inch is really bad, 32 is even worst
Depends on usage. But yes BIG pixels.
It all depends on your viewing distance.
Screen size does not matter, Field of View does.
Once you go QHD you can never go back to FHD.
Try upgrading.
Why? Once you upgrade to QHD, you will want to upgrade your graphics card that can cope with QHD, and to justify that, you'll want a new CPU and motherboard and so a new computer. Easier to stick with FHD a while longer and not know what you're missing, especially with Covid pricing and availability of computer parts. If you don't know better, you won't know you're missing out. And some people just won't care the way you do even after they experience it. In fact much of the population's eyesight isn't good enough to take full advantage, especially since a lot of people who's vision is "good enough" won't wear glasses while gaming or using the computer. I mean the move from 360p to 720p and 720p to 1080p made a difference to most people. But there are diminishing returns now. At 27 inch and below I'd still say FHD is viable. 32 inch is pushing it though perhaps. Though people bought the Aldi monitors earlier this year and seemed satisfied. It all depends on what you're use to.
Issues with it going black or picture distorting on best buy reviews - even the highly rated ones. Thats' really off-putting. Sounds like either a common failure or a design problem.
Well thats a little disconcerting considering I bought one.
But then this might actually be different to the one on bestbuy.
There is multiple versions of this monitor.
Theres EB321HQ A, EB321HQ AWA, EB321HQ AWI, EB321HQ ABI and maybe more.
This one is model UM.JE1SA.A02 and the bestbuy UMJE1AAA06
These could just be for different regions but Ive recently seen two monitors that both had the same name but where clearly different (wish I could remember what that was).
Time will tell.
I just bought the ASUS VG279Q and am going to have trouble fitting it into my 3 screen setup (replacing 23 inch). If I had room I might gamble on this one. At least it would work with my VGA KVM. I'm still tempted now.
Good luck with your purchase. Honestly hope for the very best outcome for you and years of great service from this big beastie.
Kinda good ya didnt gamble as its not brilliant, its adequate.
The viewing angles arent brilliant but if you sit at a distance (which you have to coz its so big) its not to bad really.
Colours are fantastic, lots of options to get them the way you want.
But the response times are BLEH! Worse it bothers me most when looking at videos. The overdirive just makes thing worse. You seem to notice less the further the way you are from it, so maybe when/if I set it up as a tv I wont mind. But then I might not use it for a tv now. I put it up quick to test it as a monitor and I dont know if I can go back, with my waning eyesight this is a joy to look at. I only have a 24 want a 27.
No dead/stuck pixels.
Definite light bleed here and there on the borders, but mostly smooth so not to bad. Only one brighter spot so I put the lid to a pack of tallyhos in the frame and that fixed that.
Set a custom resolution of 75mhz which makes a HUGE difference in games and wotnot, HUGE! Was surprised how much. Dont seem to care about the response times as much when playing games, weird.
Anyway, why Im commenting is to ask what you think of your monitor? Noticed its about 100 more than my upper budget but thinking it might be worth it for good response times….buy once, be happy for ever kinda thing.
@PAEz: Thanks for the feedback.Unusal for an IPS monitor to have lousy viewing angles.
I'm not loving my ASUS VG279Q. The picture quality is great but seriously I don't need quick access to put targets and timers on my screen but something like 9-10 button presses using a joystick just to change the source, and then the change takes another 5 seconds.
And I knew the speakers wouldn't be great but I didn't realize just how terrible modern monitor speakers are. I specifically bought this model for the speakers so I could use it with an Xbox but the audio is unusable. Also only the selected source is audible, and every time you pick a source you have to also manually select the line in if you want to use that. It doesn't remember and there's no way to set a preference. My old monitor mixed all sources as needed.
I'm glad the picture is good because I don't usually change monitors more than once every 5-10 years. I've bought a cheap 3.5mm stereo audio mixer and I'll be putting all my sound through that and to Logitech 5.1 speakers (only main computer will get 5.1…rest will be stereo).
Oh and 1 dead pixel. Up to 5 dark pixels aren't a warranty issue apparently. 0 bright pixels but only in the first year. I think I made a mistake going ASUS to be honest.
Picture quality is way worse on my 10 year old TN Samsungs but the menu, which had it's clunky points, was way better!
There is another Acer monitor on deal of the day which looks like a good price, 24" IPS 75Hz 1080p for $145: https://www.amazon.com.au/Acer-23-8-IPS-Monitor-Black/dp/B07…
the pixel density on this though…
