I bought this from Aliexpress for more than half the price and it works flawlessly with my Google Home. It's tuya based.

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32997953761.html

    Buy if you can wait.

    • Same here. Have you worked out how to set an alarm /notification after the door is left open after a set period of time?

      • I have only got it delivered last week due to some nightmare with AusPost, it arrived after 3 months lol

I was gonna follow this for my Home Assistant setup, have a look here: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/automation-trigger-act…

        • I was hoping to use just the app for the alerts. I don't have any smart home devices to integrate with.

Also, while "pairing" with wifi, it didn't work the first time. There was no separate reset button like what the app said. If you need to reset the device, long press the only button on the body. First disconnect the cabling from the door opener first as the same button is the trigger switch.

My door opener has header pins instead of screw terminals. So I went to Jaycar to grab this header connector
          https://www.jaycar.com.au/3-pin-0-1-header-with-crimp-pins-2…

      • My understanding is that tuya doesn’t have an overtime warning settings similar to meross. That’s why I bought the meross recently instead, as this is the main feature I wanted.

      • Yes

          Do tell

    • Is it capable of knowing wether the door is open or closed? For example, if you drive away from your garage and doesn't remember if you closed it or not, can you give it a "close" command, and should you have closed it already, it is not going to open it by mistake?

There's magnetic sensor to check for open/close

      • +1

Yes, if go into the app, it will say whether it is open or closed. There is no open or close command. It is just a trigger command.

      • In addition to the bundled sensor with the Meross gizmo, I also use a Samsung SmartThings multipurpose sensor on my garage door as a backup to confirm whether door is closed or open (through SmartThings app).

Yep, got that one too. Great set with all the hardware (including Aussie power plug, magnetic sensor with cable, brackets, screws, 3M adhesive strips, wires).

Works out of the box if you are happy for some Chinese cloud to have the ability to open and close your garage door.

I'm not happy with that sort of security nightmare. When I bought it I had already decided to flash Tasmota.

Downside with this one: it has the latest version of the firmware that can no longer be flashed OTA to Tasmota. I had to solder it to a PL2303 and flash via the serial. I'm not a soldering expert, glad I didn't brick it in the process. All good now.

      • My meross didn’t come with brackets. What sort of brackets are they?

        • L brackets, I didn't need them, but depending on where you want the magnetic sensor affixed they can be useful

  • There's a $5 chip which does the same if you want a DIY solution!

    • Link?

    • Where please ?

    • details please

    • I guess Sfh1975 is referring to a NodeMCU like this.

I thought about if for a moment but then decided to go with the Aliexpress one linked above. By the time I add all the extra bits and pieces there's not much cost difference.

The NodeMCU contains the Wifi and microcontroller. You'll still need a relay for the garage door motor, a power supply for the NodeMCU, a magnetic sensor for door open, with mounting hardware and 5m wire. Then solder it all together and program the logic.

Nice if you want it as a hobby project, but not worth it for savings.

  • Do any one know what is the difference between HomeKit and Non-HomeKit version? I could not get any details at Amazon site.

One has Siri control and the other doesn’t.

      • Thanks

  • Love mine. 2 installed. One for garage door and 2nd for electric gate

anyone got this working with Homebridge?

  • Hopefully stacks with the 12% shopback cashback

  • Bought one, thought it great so bought another. When my son forgets his keys, he phones me and I open the garage door from anywhere except the moon!

    • Awesome. I can go out on my bike and leave keys and controller at home and open garage door from phone, which I never leave home without anyway….
