  • When is this available?

Is the ram soldered on or upgradable?

  • Bezels for days

  • Woah, over 2kg for a 14" laptop

    • +2

Think that may be for the whole package, laptop itself appears to be 1.47kg

      As per the HP site:

      Weight
      Starting at 1.47 kg

  • Looking at this as a school (grade 7 onwards) laptop. With basic usage, do you think the battery will typically last the 8hrs required? (I appreciate over time it will degrade anyway).

    Battery: 3-cell, 41 Wh Li-ion

I've got this CPU in a Lenovo 14" and get ~6hrs.

The $770 Asus with the newer 7nm CPU should do at least 8hrs, but you also trade the backlit keyboard and larger hard drive for a touchscreen. And it might get cheaper tomorrow.

  • I am looking for a new laptop around $700 that I will be using to do video broadcasting teaching. What specs should I be looking at? Would this be a good laptop?

What about this one that is cheaper

The CPU in the HP is much better. The AMD Athlon Silver 3050U in the Asus is a dual core with no hyperthreading. You could also consider this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/583963

      • Thank you so much. So should I consider the link you sent or this HP one?

        • Hmm idk, the Dell has a slightly larger screen and is a fair bit cheaper, but has a slightly worse CPU, half the storage space, no USB-C and the panel isn't as good the HP. Up to you to decide based on that. Dell warranty may be better though.

  • Good deal for a 14" laptop that's not terrible. Only downer is 1x1 Wifi but you can't have everything for $700.

    • replace it

      also:

      1 RJ-45; 1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data transfer only, data 5 Gb/s signaling rate); 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Data transfer only); 1 HDMI; 1 headphone/microphone combo; 1 AC smart pin

it only has gen1 type C so it needs the std. round barrel HP charger

  • "Brightview" means Glossy display. Would like to know screen brightness and color gamut
