15% off Nintendo eShop, TCN The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub&Bar/Restaurant, Google Play Gift Cards @ Coles

8329

Saw this today at Coles.

15% off gift cards including Nintendo eShop, The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub/Bar/Restaurant gift cards and Google Play gift cards ($50-100 only)
Starting 25/11 ending 1/12

UPDATE: cards not activate or not scanning/discount at checkout. Coles are pulling all cards out and refund. Some people reported some cards are fine. Wait until this is resolved. Such a shame.

UPDATE 2: some people reported that JB-Hifi has lifted the restriction on $500 max Gift card purchases, so you could try your luck. Please buy max 5 cards only and leave them for other people (including me, haha, got none so far) so everyone can have a smiling Black Friday purchases.

PARTY IS OVER. Well done to those who got the cards. Pity to the people who could not get the cards (me too, tried 5 times, gave up, friend gave me few cards). What a good deal with such a shameful operation that left many people frustrated.

  • Any Coles stores in Syd still have stock?

    • coles across northern beaches should have it. still in stock with all kinds of TCN card when i went both yesterday and today. card with larger value may be out of stock.

  • How long do these card last for in terms of redemption?

    • says 36 months on the back of mine

    • 36 months

  • Called jb on Queen Street. They have confirmed gift card limit removed. Guy was saying they implemented the rule due to the large amounts of gift cards being used and causing delays.

    • I just got blocked for over 500 sale.
They showed me the email where its limited to 500.

Anyone know of a subsequent email showing the removal of the limit

      • let them know they updated there t&c's since then.

        • i did, but they continued to refer to an earlier JB Hifi email that blocked me.

I think i need fellow OzBargainers to list the stores who have accepted more than 5 giftcards for purchase,

Or if a JB Employee can reference the time and subject of the email, where it is allowed now

          Thanks

          • @GLO: I just had this problem this morning at the original store. I ased them to call the store i spoke with that said they would do more on the phone.

So my advice ring a store get them to say its okay. Tell your closer store that it has been changed and to ring them for confirmation.

  • Does anyone know of any stores in stock in SE Melb? I hear there might be restocks tomorrow but it's not really worth the runaround to four stores to hopefully snag some cards.

  • +4

Fun adventure trying to redeem mine.

    • Bought 1 $50 Him card to test out, quick confirmation on my local JB store says that they're willing to accept any amount of GCs, as long as the transaction goes through.
    • Doubled back to Coles and bought 5 x $50 Him cards, coupled with cashback-attached $1000 JB gift card from ShopBack and some free gift cards laying around to buy a new iPhone.
    • Heart sank when I see the "Unauthorised messages" pop up for the Him cards. Thankfully JB people allow me to order with my credit card and replace the funds with the GCs once they work.
    • Checked the balance of the cards, all of them were showing $0 and Active
    • Back to Coles, store clerk has no clue and mostly fobs off to TCN, saying that cards can take up to 24 hrs to activate, despite T&Cs saying activation "upon purchase"

    • Next day, kept checking the balance every few minutes. Going thru the agony of needing to put my email, mobile number and remembering to untick that stupid marketing tickbox.

    • Tried calling TCN when their office hours came around, instantly redirected to voicemail everytime.
    • Eventually slowly the cards start to show $50 balances. Go to JB, all cards redeemed. Staff were very understanding. There's even a guy beside my cashier counter redeeming a ton of cards at once (huge pile of Ultimate Gift Cards)

<3 local JB staff, </3 TCN (I sent them a voicemail and support email, no reply even now).

  • Hi all, sorry I have search but can I:
Buy a Him Card, go to JB and get a netflix card? Seems to be something they sell but I can't see the netflix cards on the jbhifi site? Finder had JB listed as a seller but that might be out of date. 15% off netflix is the goal.

    • Would also be interested to know this.

  • any place with cards inner east melbourne? $300 short of an iphone.

    • Been to 4 Coles in southeast after work today and didn't find a single $50 or more face value Him/Her/Kid
Will try my luck another day

    • Just pay cash for part of the iPhone? many people cant even find one card.

  • How long is activation supposed to take? I’ve been checking for 3.5 hours and it’s still at $0.00 balance.

    • I'm in the same boat mate. Purchased at 5.15pm Brisbane time and still showing zero balance as of 8.45 pm. Can only imagine they're getting slammed with activations all over Australia and that we will get our money eventually. I sure hope so!

      • Up to 24 hours.

      • Mine took 4hrs

        • When did you buy it? I’m up to 4.5 hours now.

          • @j0hnny: Same. Hoping they are loaded by the morning. Will be annoyed if they arent.

            • +1

@hazzad: Just got the balance. 5.5 hours total time between purchase and activation.

              • @j0hnny: Yep looks like mine have to. Happy days.

        • curious. when you left coles, did your receipt say approved?
do you mean, even after it had approved, the value still didnt load onto the card until 4 hrs later?

          • +1

@sirspiff: Was in a similar situation. My receipt's activation part did say "Approved". Balance still reads as $0 until over 12 hours later. (bought ~8PM, balance reads. $50 around 12PM next day)

  • Do you have to register ea card to use?

    • Only if you want the balance replaced if it's lost or stolen.

  • Are guys allowed to buy teen, her or kids cards and use them at jb if there aren’t any him cards left?

    • They are gift cards. You are meant to buy them for other people. Other people could be him, her, teen or kids. Very simple.

    • +13

I doubt it, you need to show your ID and confirm your gender during check out. They apply this policy across all store afaik.

      • is this true?

        • Absolutely. 🙄

        • Absolutely, they are not allowed to assume your gender.

      • +7

Yep I proved my gender and was immediately escorted out of the store.

        • +1

Also if you are over 21 and buy a teen card we are legally obligated to report that transaction to the police.

  • +1

    Bought 10* $100 Him cards and 19* $50 one total $1950.
Used just now at JB. No issue at all.

    Thanks everyone.

    • Which store ?

      • Coles Findon Adelaide

        • thanks!

Anyone with similar success in Sydney?

    • +1

TCN changed their T&C, the limit at JB and GG has been removed.

  • Does anyone know if Coles will put more cards on shelves tomorrow, I think I have seen some comments like this.

  • Do they check ID and accept gift card based on gender?

    • +1

      No (to both questions)

      • ty lol I was worried regarding some of the above comments.

Just been to JB Melb Central, the $500 limit and no redeeming for gc rules are put up at the checkout.
    - Tried to explain to the staff those TCN rules has gone, the staff checked and then said no, quoting JB's GC TC - '13. Gift Cards are not redeemable for other Gift Cards.'
    - Pointed out the term 'Gift Cards' in their tc refers to 'JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards' (as stated in the beginning of that tc) not 3rd party GCs.
    - Got rejected with a 'my way or high way' attitude.
    - Asked about the $500 rule (buy something but not GC), got rejected, quoting TCN $500 rule again
    (sigh….

Used to have a good impression with that store but.. 🙃

    • Buy a $500 item, refund as JB gift cards, repeat?

    • go to the one on elizabeth st

      • I went to that store first and the staff said no. Did you get yours?

        • +2

I called them in the morning to ask about the limit. The manager named Jack said that TCN gift cards are treated as credit card. There will be no limit applied on them.

          • @trantonz: wow, will drop by and bother them again tmr, thx!

    • +1

The problem is they are referring to the old T&C's that used to specifically mention a limit of $500 at JB and the Good Guys (BTW this was just added a couple of days ago)

Now the T&C's https://thecardnetwork.com.au/pages/terms-conditions have been updated to remove that limit. So there is nothing that they can use to stop you from using as many gift cards as you want.

The only limit that actually exists is 5 Cards per purchase from Coles.

Get them to show you the actual Current Terms and Conditions, as some printed out memo that was sent yesterday referring to old T's&C's is no longer valid.

    • Just review them appropriately

  • Managed to get 2x$100 and 2X$50 today. Going by the comments, don’t want to check balance till tomorrow.

Hopefully they stock up again before the catalogue ends

  • +1

If anyone is still looking in Melbourne West, Coles Riverdale has $100 gift cards and lots on the shelf.

  • There is any Good Guy gift cards there?

  • SMS for the app still not working. Anyone else having luck?

  • +22

I reached my lowest Ozbargain moment last night…..A couple of days before the promo started I repositioned 5 x $50 Him cards behind a stack of Bunnings vouchers in case they were snapped up instantly on the first day. Although I was able to pick some up initially from various Coles, I required a few more however cards had dried up at the 3 Coles in Sydney I went to. I circled back to the original store last night and was surprised to see the ones I repositioned on Tue were still there.
I can’t believe the depth I dropped to for the sake of $37.50.

    • +1

      That’s OZB ascendancy right there

      • GOLD!

  • Does anyone know any place with cards around Hobart? Thanks

  • +3

Nothing this morning at Cranbourne and Waverley Gardens VIC

    • +4

Nothing at parkmore, Clayton, Springvale, noble park

      • If you find any over the next few days let us know. Manager at Parkmore said they shelved them cause they weren’t working. So keep an eye out for Parkmore.

  • +4

Checked out 3 stores on my run this morning. No luck at all 3, but I did manage to do 10km which is a great start to the day

  • Anyone know if JB in Hornsby or Westfield Chatswood are accepting more than $500 of gc?

  • Lots of cards this morning at Coles on in Mulgrave on the corner of Princes Hwy and Springvale Rd.

    • @polar reports nothing at that Coles just 30mins ago, when did you spot this?

    • You’re a legend. Will drop by ASAP and hope to get some. Edit: how long ago?

    • I went early this morning. None there. Are you sure they are the right cards?

      • What time did you go? Reckon they stocked them after you left?

        • i was there around 7.30am.

          • @polar: Thanks

            • @Phil22: tell us if they have some.

              • @polar: Just called. They said no pretty arrogantly.

                • @Phil22: Yeah they probably have had alot of calls. I would be pretty annoyed if they put some out after I left. They had alot of cards. Just not the ones we want.

  • +1

Anyone found any left in Canberra ACT?

    • Do I need the cards physically to redeem them at JB Hi-fi? Or can I just provide them the digits and pin number on the back? Wondering if I can ask a mate in VIC to buy me some and use them here.

      • You'll need the physical card. You can ask your mate to try his luck redeeming those physical card to a JB Giftcard if they allow him to; then pass on the JB giftcard to you.

    • try Queanbeyan when they open the store in the morning. I heard someone got $6000 worth of TCN on the first day there.

      • All out in QBN Coles.

      • Most metro stores ran out as soon as the promo started. At this stage it's fruitless going in to check.

    • I tried Curtin, Manuka, Belconnen, Jamison and Kaleen late yesterday without success.

I think the issue was that I checked late yesterday, not first thing this morning…

      • Did the same none left everywhere I visited. Anybody know when they will get the next shipment in?

        • Got the last 3 Teen $50 cards at Curtin. Tried calling the other coles and they mentioned it is out nationally. Shipment is estimated before Tuesday but not guaranteed.

    • Woden has heaps (both inside and outside).

Probably gone in minutes now I posted this.

      • Lol they are all ultimate cards!!

      • Lol they are the wrong cards!!

      • Heaps of wrong cards unfortunately

        • When we're you there? There was kids and her.

          • +1

@sss333: 12:30pm mate they are all ultimate cards checked with the staff at the counter

  • +1

Anyone know which stores have stock in Syd? Went to Waterloo, Pyrmont, Zetland, Surry Hills and World Square this morning - all no stock :(

  • Coles Edgecliff is out

  • +2

Probably a good idea now to post where we have all checked to save needless running around.

    • Anything suburban Brisbane is out. Also myer centre I think doesn't do this deal so don't check there either (and don't even think about stealing their stock).
