The Lord of The Rings Trilogy - The Extended Edition [Blu-Ray] $55.50 Free Postage

310

Amazon UK. Lowest price I have seen. Note, price says 40 pounds but on checkout VAT tax is removed and it comes to 33 pounds. Australian retail is over $100 for the box set. Postage is free to Australia and NZ.

Please note, the box set includes the 3 movies on 6 x Blu-rays which are compatible with Blu-ray players in Australia but the Extras which are on DVD's (Not Blu-ray's) are on a different region code and will not work on Australian Blur-ray players or DVD players unless you own a region free player. I think it is possible to view the DVD extra's on PC DVD-Rom though, hopefully someone can comment on that.

I think 60% off Australian prices makes it worth it.

It's a good deal, but the price has been like this for quite a while, see price history graph here:

I was hoping this box set would be one of the Black Friday sales (UK or US), but the US price was disappointing (USD $50), and the UK sale didn't feature this box set

Still too pricey in my eyes considering the Theartrical version is sitting in my open order for £9.26.

      • Will do, thanks;-)

torrents will have to do for Dan.
In fact he did buy the movies(just not the extended version), so he can get the digital copy but cheat a little and get the extended one but then rename them to the theatrical version to clean his moral conscience ;)

No idea what that means but fwiw I own the EE trilogy on DVD and had no plans to buy either on blu ray but when the TE trilogy was priced at nearly the cost of hiring them I couldn't resist.

if you have the EE on dvd you're not missing much!

Good books, shame about the movies.

I found the LOTR trilogy to one of the few cases where the movies are better than the books. I read all of Fellowship and got half way through Two Towers before I gave up. Credit must be given to Tolkein for dreaming up some incredible lore, but the books really would have benefited from a good edit.

      • Should I have said "I preferred the movies to the books" in order to make it clear it was merely my opinion? Not feeling a lot of love from Ozbargain lately. Meh.

Both the books AND the movies were good. They didn't win a few oscars for being sh!t
