meh was cheaper few months back and i'm 100% sure there will be better black friday deals.

    • +1

Are you sure it was the same spec? TA had this for a little less last week. Thats the only deal I can think of that was cheaper.

    • +1

i don't know about this specific product in this spec but so far i have been underwhelmed with lenovo's 'black friday' deals they are feeding.

      • Yeah I bought the predecessor (E495) last year for $670-ish. That was with lighter specs (8GB & 256GB SSD) and a Cashrewards discount though.

Too close to black friday to consider this. Also did I mention the screen? Think about the screen!

Came here for the screen comment

    • Ahaha! I'm one of those screen commenters unfortunately… I feel personally attacked ahahaha

    • Ahh bugger still 250nits. After 18 months with the E485, it's just not quite bright enough for "verandah" work…

…however indoors and in brightly lit offices, it's ok.

      • I need at least 500 nits while Instagram in my bespoke gazebo.

Came here for the 250nits screen comment

shabaka will do the honours for that one

I got one of these 'terrible Lenovo screen' machines for my wife last week, and honestly they're not nearly as bad as people make them out to be. I was using it outside on my deck (under cover but still quite bright), and I had no issues using it. Sure there might be better options, but unless someone is providing a similar machine at a similar price with a better screen, I am happy to have prioritised performance.

    • Also keep in mind it's not just the brightness but also the poor colour reproduction. Might not be important for general use but can be an issue for those wanting accurate colours.

    • The brightness is perfectly adequate for office/indoor use. On 400+ nits laptops I just run half brightness really.

Color is bad though. Can be fixed with an external monitor, but I personally would pay a little bit more for a better screen so I don't always have to sit at my desk.

  • Mine ordered for E15 2 weeks ago still has 4 weeks more to get delivered..

    • I ordered through Lenovo, then cancelled and ordered one off their eBay which was dispatched next day.

      • I ordered on Lenovo ebay and its 6 weeks when it said item location: Chatswood, NSW

        • Weird, I was very impressed to receive mine in about three days.

          • @pdtmathieson: might have been back order when they had incorrect Qty on eBay item list oh well.. they offered free 2 yrs more warranty on it so…
I will wait unless I see better offer during Black Friday sale

  • I know people talk about the screen, but can anyone comment on the wireless (RTL8822CE 11ac)?

Having bought a previous generation unit and changed over the wireless adaptor to Intel because the Realtek was deemed to be junk, is this one an improvement or is it still sub standard?

    • just replace it

for the price you pay for an ax201 its silly to keep the rtl

      • I want to do this, but can't seem to get a customization page.
The item page does however indeed say it's an option.
        Any suggestions ?

  • This would have been a decent deal, but delivery time is unbelievable. Recommended this to a mate from last deal, he was really upset with the Mar 2021 estimated delivery.

    • This and the screen makes it not worth it.

      • +1

Who knows what will be on sale in March 2021….

        • What will be on sale in March 2021 will be delivered in July 2021…

  • Soldered memory on laptop??
    What could possible go wrong?!

    • One soldered, one expandable.

This is really typical for Lenovo for the last few years. Really not ideal but it just seems to be the way of the world now.
