  • Decent deal I guess, but a slight downgrade from the 6146TX from a month ago.

  • So the difference between this deal and the one released earlier:
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/57931
is that for $150 more I get a bluray player, extra 2GB RAM plus extra 250 GB HD….

    • Yeah, probably not worth it unless you really need a blu-ray player.

    • So the better deal depends on your needs - this would prob be great more as a media machine, playing BR movies etc out of box.

I wanted one for light-to-medium gaming so i bought the other deal - adding RAM is $25, i will be replacing the HDD with SSD, so the extra 250GB is meaningless to me anyway, i don't watch BR movies, not on laptop anyway.

  • You can't buy 2x$100 voucher before. I can only add Qty of 1 x $100 voucher and 1 of other value therefore I didn't bother to buy any.

    • you should have contacted us, at the same time, even if you get others, it is $30 savings.

Yeah, its not bad but in the whole scheme of things, laptops are going cheap these days. In that sense I think the price is a bit much to be considered a bargain. Just my opinion.

I also don't like how shopping express manipulate their price online. For example the savings on this laptop and the asus transformer are a bit unrealistic. If shopping express were to actually have lower prices/or match their competitors it would actually be a bargain.

I think ozbargainers maintain a high threshold :) force shop express to match other bargains ^^

We'll I don't like companies that use the RRP as the price on which your saving is based. It is somewhat misleading. But that is not to say it isn't technically right.

My opinion is that if the RRP is say $100, and company A sells the item for $50 and Company B sells it for $60. Buying from Company A would save you $10 and not $50.

I think using the RRP is a manipulative tactic to entice the otherwise uninformed buyer.

Your transformer is a prime example. Many companies are discounting their price. The discounted price would be the price to base any savings on as it becomes the normal price.

        • I'm not disagreeing with your logic, but you're getting a bit overboard here. This is how business works, this is how marketing is, try think in the business's perspective. Welcome to the real world.

Btw the manufacturer sets the rrp, not the retailer. Its unrealistic to show savings based on other retailers as those prices always changes, when that happens are you going to complain again saying the savings shown is incorrect? That would cause even more problems. I'm sure we all know no one buys at rrp anyway, why be so fussy? Take some commerce lessons kthxbai

        • Yeah, I think it's quite reasonable to work off the RRP as a reference point,
          misleading as it is.

  • Thanks for the above comments guys. For this deal, I am afraid it cannot go lower, as this is a loss lead (ozbargain exclusive deal) that's supposed to let people that purchased our vouchers earlier to enjoy further savings.

  • When does this expire. I want to purchase this prior to travel on the 25/12 but needs to be 30 days so can you please advise.

    • claiming gst? its 3 months.

    • morning, this will expire on 27-11-11.

      • any chance of providing this deal again?
