    This is out of stock.

Why do you guys keep posting things which are out of stock?

    http://i42.tinypic.com/nlsdnp.jpg

    • Agree, waste of time!

    • Ok stock is based on the Office Works Store selected.

OP is in Sydney hence there is stock there. Please update title to reflect that stock is available for Sydney OW Postcode 2000

The OW store in VIC 3121 is out of stock.

Removed my neg since it is in stock for OP

  • It shows stock is available for me.

  • Out of stock!!!! what?
You can still add it to cart but then at checkout price jumps to $109???

says in stock for me then jumps to $109

    • ditto.

Just contacted Officeworks store and they did it!

I would guess it was lowered to match BigW and now their sale has finished so has the price match

    • Sale just started.

    • There is also plenty of stock to be found @ Bigw

  • Officeworks Elizabeth was out of stock last night, but apparently there are about 300 on order (ETA next week).

  • Just rang Auburn store in nsw and they said that its out of stock in the online warehouse and its online price is going up today to $109. I was trying to argue that price clearly says $88 and says in stock but he wouldnt price match that as in store on shelves it is $109. So gave up, not worth the fact that its usb 2.0 but could have been a good internal drive.

  • I fkn hate officeworks dodgy pricematch crap more than I hate listening to gerry harvey.

I wonder if a petition with a hundred ozbargainers fired off at the ACCC would stop officeworks from throwing their price around the place like this.

  • OW are dodgy.. Been going around all morning in Melbourne CBD, they're saying no stock.
Sounds like they're out the back in storage but they don't want to price match for fear of (price) loss I reckon!!

    • Yes, they do. In all seriousness they take it off the shelves after they catch wind of a pricematch.

dont make things up i worked there and we didnt do that

  • Do you void the warranty if you open the enclosure? So that you can use them as internal drives.

    • I would say yes.
Also the plastic tabs holding the case together would probably break when trying to open the case up.

  • I was able to buy one from officeworks in melbourne, cnr collins and king st.
They had about 10 when I bought it 9am this morning.

    • thanks but less than 5 now…

  • $109

Went to 2 Adelaide OW stores this morning (Trinity Gardens and Keswick) neither had any on shelf, they had filled the shelf space with Seagate 1TB drives, after speaking to the employees at both stores i've got the impression that they removed them off shelf and put them out the back. Very dodgy!
I ended up going to BigW Cumberland Park and grabbed 2 of them (think it was their last 2), I would have gone there first but Officeworks is closer to my house.

  • Bondi Junction still have at least two left, maybe more in the cabinet behind the checkout. When I brought two drives with security tags to the counter, the lady went to a big cabinet and fished out two drives without the tags, there seemed to be maybe five or six in the cabinet (they could have been 1TB though, the box is the same size). Worth a try if you're keen.

  • Maybe try ringing the actual Officeworks web store itself and see what they say:

21mins to get through to officeworks online at 10.30am. They said it was $109, i directed them to the $88 url. They agreed to honour the $88 however only allowed me to order 1. I rang back and they said they had no stock and that the one order i had placed was on back order. I have called all the sydney metro stores and they all claim no stock. I was in the clarence street store last night and they had at least 10 on the shelf and refused to price-match saying that the picture of the box was different. fair enough deal started at bigw 24/11. this am mysteriously no stock at clarence street.

    SHAME ON YOU OFFICEWORKS.

  • Was at OfficeWorks North Sydney. They unloaded the stock and turned the price tag on the shelf the other way around so that you cannot order them in.

What is the point of having the price match policy when the stocks are hidden away. Who is willing to place a bet that the stocks will magically reappear after the BigW sale.

  • Officeworks policy in action - what's the problem?

Does anyone believe that they pricematch as they advertise?

ditto Dick smith. We have trading laws but no-one enforces them against Woolworth or Westfarmers - 0h and cheap chocolate digestive biscuits this am at Woolies - expiry date July 2011 - I didn't buy them so maybe thye're still there! Plenty of brown meat as well….

  • I wandered into OW in Narre Warren, and they had one left on the shelf, for $108. I said the price online was $88, same as big w. He said it should be "out of stock" and I got the distinct impression that he meant it should be in the "out of stock" room in the back until prices increase. I guess they are making a loss at $88, if not on what they bought them for, at least on what they would cost now.
Anyway they honoured the $88 so can't complain too much. it seems to be the price of being an ozbargainer.
Oh, it was a 08/2011 model too.

    • Did you ask for the additional 10% off?

  • Australia Post shops have this at $99. It is also available on their online shop. I don't know is AusPost shops do price match.

  • I got one price matched at OW, price matched against BigW Newcastle stores.

It's not the Thai floods that are causing the prices of disk drives to increase as some are reporting. Thailand only manufactures a small percentage of HD's. Most HDs are made in China, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Korea. The prices are kept high because of the recent mergers of big manufacturers (Western Digital with Hitachi / Samsung with Seagate) therefore creating less competition in the market.

  • Does this come with password protection? Anybody know of any decent priced 2T external drives that do?
