Yes, good rod for beginners
These are perfect for that and a bit cheaper @ $25. Been using one for 10yrs and pulled in some good fish with it too.
The telescopic combos are good value as well if you are limited with space for the rod.
Best place for hooks & sinkers at a sensible price too.

Rod looks rubbish.
Buy a Shimano Raider instead with Sedona/Nasci.
Braid I wouldn't trust either. You can get Daiwa 8x 300m for $26 on Amazon. Usually $69 in stores.
Avoid telescopic rods they're convenient but generally terrible quality
