Haha amazing! If I didn't have work this morning I would've tried the same. Good on you!

  • well, My order has just been cancelled:(

  • +3

Last time this shit happened with the Google Home Hub that TGG was selling at so called "great" price. I bought the discounted gift cards to order it from TGG and then the order got cancelled and I was left with the gift cards and I had nothing else to buy so I was stuck with the gift cards. Now whenever something goes on special at TGG and JB, I fear the same. Best to just match it with Officeworks when you can as they are more likely to honor it rather than trusting JB and TGG as they are repeat offenders and they hardly even apologies.

  • No dice at pick-up for click & collect orders

Apparently email from their HO to all stores is to say that it was price error blah blah blah …

No email received but apparently they'll be so kind to offer you the option of paying the difference or getting a refund 😒

  • +5

Everyone who used gift cards to buy it and now got it cancelled should bombard JB call centre and ask for a refund on the gift cards as it useless to most of us now. Given they left the price error for hours maybe even more than half a day before removing it.

    • -6

The gift cards aren’t useless. You can buy lots of products from JB. You could even buy an Apple TV 4K once it is relisted.

      • It depends on each person. I shop around and JB not necessary the cheapest. I purchase more from Amazon than JB. So it’s useless to me unless there’s something I’m looking to buy. And with gift cards all companies hope that people forget and don’t use them.

        • You’ve got almost no chance of getting a refund on the gift cards. Your best bet is to sell them for 10% off face value.

    • That's really the risk you take if you buy gift cards to try to get an additional discount. I honestly don't see anything wrong with them refusing to refund your gift card purchase. After all it is a gift card… Not a discount card that you purchased. Maybe give it as a "gift".

na officeworks wouldn't price match as the jb hi fi page was down both ppl said they had alredy done it today but cant

i even gave them someones order number

  • +3

Hehe, got order cancellation. Email due to price error…..after I already picked it up. 👍🏻

    • BuT ThEY aRE wiTHin ThERE RIghTs!!

how could you do this to this poor bis???

      • +1

They could, I bet that Officeworks really really hates JB & TGG.

I wish officeworks sues the s**t out of those businesses.

It is not any different from banks making big errors. (but they at least get fined by the australian authorities)

      • +1

Maybe they will even refund the $. That would be the cherry on top

        • +2

but the thing is when officewokrs makes price errors they most often honour them

          see my below comment

  • maybe at least now I'll wait to see what the new version brings, but it aint gunna be anywhere near $159-200…..

In the case of a genuine error, we are within our rights to follow our individual policy to address this mistake. As this was not deliberately advertised incorrectly, this is not considered misleading or deceptive conduct under Australia Consumer Law.

Hey we've made a mistake, and you know what? WE HAVE RIGHT TO JUST CANCEL YOUR ORDER!

My last two orders with JB HIFI have both been cancelled. That's it, no more JB-HIFI

    • -2

By the sounds of it you only order from JB hi-fi when you know it's a pricing error. I don't think they are going to care that you won't be "buying" from them any more!

      • +1
        1. Last order was becoz 'this item is no longer available' and they cancelled my order 3 days after I placed my order. And from where did you come up with the conclusion that I 'only order from JB hi-fi when you know it's a pricing error'?
        2. Even if both of my order were 'price error', as a customer, I don't know this was a price error or just an 'OZB' price. They did't tell me 'this is a price error, don't buy it, we just list here for fun'. IMO they have to fix their problem by listing the wrong price in the first place.
        3. This Apple TV for $159 doesnt seem to be an price error for me, you can find deals around $179. If they listed at $19 I wouldnt be bothered to order this, but $159?
        4. I've never seen a business have had an price error AND then told their customer - oh we have 'RIGHTS' to cancel your order, so you cant do anything. What if (or just like a lot of other people already did) I went for click and collect and spend 1 hour of my time and got told sorry this is a price error? What if I bought the gift card in order to place this order and I ended up have to keep the gift card?
  • +5

Purchased gift card to pay for it. Now they say to return amount in gift card. How is this not misleading.

So, put a deal so that ppl can purchase gc and pay for. Then cancel this sweet f****g deal. Not happy. Anyone else paid via newly purchased GC?

Edit: And OZB should allow to revoke our vote and put a negging on certain deals like this. This is misleading so should be open for change of vote as well.

    • Same here, bought the gift card and not sure what to do with it now

  • +2

think about this for a second
compare this deal to what happend with the $19 google nest mini at officeworks https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/546670 which as far as i know everyone who ordered got there order

or even the $298 bunnings one most people got some form of compensation or the drone https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/490047

even this jb hi fi deal which im not even sure if it was a price error https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/552014

just shows you where some bis main focuses are

  • worst part is ….. it is still showing $159 / $199 ( for 4K Version) when you search apple tv on JB website and scroll down for 4K Version below

  • Sorry for those who missed out,
but consider just getting the new Google equivalent? Only $99, or $139 with $96 Netflix credit.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/chromecast-with-google-…

No ethernet and lacks Apple Arcade, Apple Music, Apple TV+ , but google assistant beats Siri, and the price is fantastic.

    • +1

For people who need the Netflix credit, it really isn't a bad deal. However for anyone that cares for specs, if I'm not mistaken the new Google TV has the same specs roughly as the Vodafone TV, and that struggles to run Kodi with a few heavy addons/skins. In my experience, running Kodi with Arctic Zephyr 2 skin and Jellyfin plugin, it takes forever to sync new changes and the UI can get fairly sluggish at times to. In comparison, my Galaxy Tab S from 2014 (!!!) loads everything almost instantly, including syncing new stuff. Unfortunately this also extends through most of Google/Android TV's OS, and I've noticed a fair amount of apps that act pretty sluggish on the hardware too. Reminds me a bit of Google WearOS watches, and how they all ran pretty mediocre because they were hampered by the same old chipset.

Compared to the Apple TV 4K which has the very good A10X SoC and 3GB RAM, and can run Infuse or Kodi if jailbroken and would likely perform much better if Kodi on my iPad 2018 is anything to go by (ATV4K has slightly better specs)… you can see why a lot of people would have preferred the ATV at the "price error" price. Even just for the much better UI and selection of apps compared to Google TV.

  • How many times has this happened

I’m a bit uneducated in this case could you take in to the ACC

    • All they have to do is say "it was a mistake, sorry" and they get off. The system is a joke.

  • +3

I was at JB hifi Hoppers crossing sharp at 9 AM after I got a text confirmation for pick up and buggers coudnt get this click and collect order processed and told me to wait in car . Was on hold for almost 10 min before someone said its a price error .!!! They would refund for the item but what about my time ( including all the time i wasted watching videos on apple TV 4k ) !!!! Got a cancellation email when i reached home…

    • Similar story here, but I walked in store instead and spoke to the manager :(

      • Did it help ? I am in Dan-Land so impossible to get past door !

        • Nope, didn't help. She was only happy to sit down with me and figure out a smaller discount, but I refused

    • Should have tried arguing with them that even if it’s a price error then they should not have message you that your order ready for collection. When receiving a text that’s it’s ready for collection means they have gone and taken it and put it aside ready for you. If it’s a price error then either no text is sent and cancellation email is given or a text is sent informing of price error. Those who receive the text message should try and argue for it.

      • Thought about it but wasn't too sure if it would be worth it !

      • Did that, didn't help. Said that I took 1 hour off work to go and pick up, didn't help. Mentioned ACCC…didn't help.

  • Price matched and picked up from OfficeWorks. Cheaper as well.

Process was quite smooth. Had to wait for ~10 mins though in the call queue.

    • Was it before JBHIFI took it down?

      • +2

After… Called OW around 10:15 and picked up an hour later.

        • if you live in melbourne… no chance for this

          • @Alp3r: I do live in Melbourne and did Click and Collect (via phone)

        • Did you call a store or the general number?

        • Didn't they check JBHIFI website when you called or you did show them receipt of someone who got it from OW this morning?

          • @Dave1988: Want to know this also

          • @Dave1988: The lady on the phone said she will check the website, but I don't think she did. She took my word.

            • @RSmith: Can you check the pm I sent you

            • @RSmith: Lucky you, I just called OW 5min ago and they knew it was an error from JB and taken down.

              • @Dave1988: Damn.

              • @Dave1988: I think it depends on the consultant you get.

                • @RSmith: i called no luck, she said they got an email at 10am about the price error

    • +1

So you bought at the discounted price yet you still negged the deal, rough!

      • I bought from OW after JB cancelled my order. The neg was before I contacted OW.

        • +1

So this deal in a way still helped you get the cheaper price.

  • Got a 64gb model on order from Officeworks… paid for and done.

    • Did you price match it before or after the page went down on jb hi fi?

      • Yeah I did… $189 approx

        • But what time did you price match it before or after jb canceled/took down the pager or after?

          • +1

@eckers19: Before. I was there at 8. I showed them the link. I had a feeling it was an error and Officeworks I feel is more likely to stick to it than Jbhifi

  • +1

Arggggg….so upset after talking to the “manager” at Adelaide Rundle Mall. I wasn’t aware about this error until actually came to the store to collect the order after I’ve received both sms and email indicating that it’s ready for collection. Such a waste of time. Can jb hifi even do this? Such a shame!

  • Just received an email and text that my order is ready for collection??? Strange I had an email earlier this morning that its been cancelled

    • +1

I had a word with JB hiFi Hoppers crossing guy about my order ( as I was pissed as they made be visit the store just to cancel the order ) and he did say that though its a price error , it should be ready for collection soon ..seems like they are honouring the deal ! I am waiting for the text though !

      • I am waiting for the text though !

You'll be waiting a long time.

        • +3

I rang the store after I received the email and they said it was ready for collection, told them I had received a cancellation email earlier this morning, she told me that it must of been an error as it is ready for collection. Drove to the store and picked it up….than you very much:)

          • @thisistheusername: I got the price error email this morning, and just now ready to collect email and text - maybe I'll try pick up too! Anyone else same boat?

        • I am keeping my expectations low !!

      • Doesn't look like they are honouring all purchases. when I got to JB Eastgardens they already had printed a pile of our "click and collect" orders together with the cancellation email(that I hadn't received at that time)

        • I actually collected the order an hour ago from Hoppers crossing …told them my mates got the order honoured at few stores across Melbourne ( which is actually true )…. Chase them up …

          • @Ap1785: Update: called my local store and spoke to a manager who confirmed that they received a new message from
Head Office 2.5 hrs ago asking them to honour all orders who got the text message. Just picked up mine!

  • +1

Mine just arrived from JB even after I got the email saying it was advertised at wrong price and I'd get a refund. I must have ordered it early enough this morning.
Hopefully now I still get my refund.

    • Did you get it delivered?

      • Yes, paid $5 for same day delivery..

        • Should have done that

          Are you in Victoria?

        • You may get a refund, as well as the product!

          Lucky you!

          • @HardQuiz: Ya Comrade!

          • @HardQuiz: I doubt it. I was sent an email confirming pickup (basically the tax invoice), surely their system isn’t that silly.

  • +1

Like most with cancelled orders I'm frustrated with JB as I received the 'Ready for Pickup' email, travelled in to get it, only to be told after waiting 10 minutes (while staff were on hold) there was an IT error and they would call me later to pick it up. When home I got the cancellation email saying they'll refund back to the gift card I purchased specifically for this item, that I now have no use for. I understand pricing errors, however don't feel its reasonable to penalize (an hour+ of time and money sitting with JB until some future date) your customers when you make a mistake.

    • -4

I understand where you're coming from, but technically you purchased a gift card and tried to redeem it on an item with an incorrect price. So your purchase was the gift card, not the Apple TV. Purchasing a gift card with the sole purpose to fund one transaction (which may not eventuate) is not recommended. They were created to be used as a gift, it's just that this community here uses gift cards to get products at an even cheaper price. Still annoying for you, just trying to provide a retailer perspective here.

      • "Price error and cancel&refund" I understand. Send "order ready for collection" text and email and refuse to hand out the goods, I don't.

        • I agree with you. Was responding to the below and other comments here about refunds to gift cards.

[…]they'll refund back to the gift card I purchased specifically for this item, that I now have no use for.

  • +3

Seems to be a perfect system for JB.

post a deal as a “pricing error”
    receive an abundance of orders
    cancel orders
pocket all of this new customer data
refuse to refund gift cards purchased for this item

They just need to run one “pricing error” every couple weeks and they’ll be reaping in a number of gift card sales and new people for their mailing list.

    • +2

exactly comrade - thiz iz how ze zystem workz now in oz - feel free to complain to…..?

    • surely we can do something about this

      • -2

You can… You can stop buying gift cards to then make an immediate purchase.

  • +2

Another great deal thanks for being in WA where Officecworks was open last night till 9pm (midnight EST) to price beat whilst the deal was live on JB website.

I was able to get the 32gb for $151 at local Officeworks at 8pm (11pm EST) so thanks OP!!.

Although for me only bought so I can sell my current 32gb as to get new 12 months warranty and get the 12 months free AppleTV+

    • I missed out on deal, let me buy your current one :c

  • +4

Got e-mail and text at 07:25 that that item is ready for collection.
    Got cancellation e-mail at 08:48
Went to the store (Modbury) regardless and to my surprise collected the 32GB version at 10:56.
I really hope they don't return the money as well!

    • +4

You hope they keep the money ?

      2020 is a strange year.

      • Yup. I already collected the goods.

        • Lucky. I arranged for C&C at the mile end store and they called me 9:45 to confrim i had received the cancellation email.

I'm in the same boat as others where I purchased GC's (using my Citibank Rewards) - lesson learned next time to just pay with paypal…

          • +1

@addas: what i have learned is that if you cant click and collect pay the extra $5 and get the same day delivery

          • @addas: It's a shame for everyone that has purchased GC's just for this. I normally purchase GC as well through AGL rewards. But sold an old laptop on e-Bay and had the money already on Pay Pal balance so used that.

    • +2

After seeing this message (even after I got SMS confirmation and email cancellation) I went in store to try my luck as I really had nothing to lose and voila, collected with no questions asked. Thanks

      Also Modbury, SA

  • +1

    honestly stuff jb hi fi

  • When went to pick mine up they said its cancelled and offered it to me for $200 for the inconvenience. Thought its a good deal as 50 bucks off
