I use the door/window sensors and motion sensors integrated with HomeKit via HomeBridge and no problems for me, all work great.

Yes - I use 2 Xiaomi hubs with HomeBridge and about 20 sensors. You can even integrate with Alexa and Echo "says" when doors open.
