The Black Friday Deals Week begins on Amazon US this coming Monday. They usually have super cheap deals but you have to be watching. Last year a lot of people got Mad Men Blu Ray seasons for only $9.99 per season. This year they are listed to come up again….

Anyway I thought I'd post the link to the calender which outlines what items will come up and what day/time. Most prices are still to be revealed - only a few Monday prices are revealed so far. An example of the savings is the Muppets Box which today is $143.99 which on Monday will reduce down to $49.99.

Bear in mind DVD's will generally be region 1, and Blu Ray playability is sketchy being that they are a different region to Australia. Here is a link to a website where you can check whether your chosen blu ray is region free (or not):

Have fun!

  • Have $100+ in gift certificate credits ready to spend, but to be honest, the Blu-ray's on offer in the sale look pretty average (might get Mad Men season 4 to complement the first 3 I got in last year's sale). Was hoping for LOTR: Extended, or Star Wars and some more recent releases. But the Star Trek Motion Picture Blu-ray boxset as part of the "deal of the week" might be a goer, if it drops below the current USD$41 (it's already a good price).

    • Mad Men S4 is confirmed region free so I imagine this will be a popular one, seeing that many people got S1, S2 and S3 last year.

    • That's the DVD price. They mis-linked. BR is USD63 atm.

If they do drop it, they need to drop the new movies too. :/

    • Maybe I didn't read it before, or maybe it was just added, but apparently, there will be other deals not listed in the calendar thingy. Here's the exact quote from the page:

In addition to these deals we'll have The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (Blu-ray) and Jurassic Park Trilogy (Blu-ray), plus Bridesmaids, King's Speech, X-Men: First Class, and more on DVD and Blu-ray on sale all week. Then on Thursday, we'll add even more savings including The Social Network, The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and more.

The LotR links to the extended edition, so I'm looking forward to that. (X-Men: First Class is also Blu-ray, as is The Lion King and On Stranger Tides is the Blu-ray 3D/combo version). The rest of the mentioned/linked are DVDs.

Wow, they skip all the bull and actually list all the sale items, times, and prices to expect. But unfortunately, nothing that I'm interested in.

    • Same and still with bull. Timed sales are annoying. Pass on staying up stupidly.

      • Last year stuff came up that wasn't listed in the calender it pays to keep on eye out one the bargain thread just incase

I am sure this can be arranged… :)

  • Might get the Weeds season DVD's depending on the price.

yeh I got heaps of downloads but when I want to watch something but I dont know what I rather scan the shelves and see what jumps out at me. Stuff just gets lost on HDDs.

        • I have quite a few things downloaded / shared to me by friends onto a large storage NAS which streams nicely to my TV, however things I like and will want to watch again I do buy on Blu Ray for the resolution/quality, the extras and as some level of support to an industry I spend a lot of time enjoying.

I have a couple of book shelf of DVD's - so of course I'm always looking for a good deal.

  • When buying in the sale do you have to process the sale before the time runs out or can you just keep in your cart and save on shipping.

  • Had some nice deals last year, batman blu-ray like $5 bucks a pop, spent a bit of money last year.

Will amazon have Logitech U.E TripleFi 10 Earphones for $99 again like the past two years?

  • need things OTHER than bluerays :(

Far too much crap on that listing - not to mention dated & mostly unpopular stuff that you can already get for cheap. Hopefully the good stuff has yet to be revealed

People still buy overpriced DVDs? Why?

    • -2

some people don't like these kind of questions and will neg your comments. lol

  • overpriced compared to what?

  • Keen for the Lion King!!!!

  • Some prices have been put up. Nothing too good for the first round of sales, but Pulp Fiction Blu-ray for $4.99 would be okay but it's region locked (stupid Lionsgate, region locking such an old movie).

Will probably only make a single order on Thursday/Friday to bundle Mad Men S4 with other week long Blu-ray deals (depending on price, of course) including LotR:EE, Jurassic Park Trilogy, Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection, The Lion King, PotC: On Stranger Tides.

  • Rocky The Undisputed collection has had a price drop on Amazon UK now approx $23.99 Aust if combined with something else to get free shipping

  • Ignore.
