Thanks for including the fencing info, yeah this one qualifies for legit pool fencing. Otherwise chuck on an extra 5.5K for a fine for NSW too.

Still have our one in the box after purchased for $29 :( but better than finding a child in one.

Is there anywhere where this wouldn't need a pool fence?

I also presume that there aren't too many people spending hundreds or thousands installing a proper pool fence to put a $60 inflatable pool in it.

"Temporary inflatable pools and portable spas do not require a building permit. However, if they are deeper than 30cm (300mm) they must have a permanent safety barrier, which does require a building permit." Quoted from the consumer affairs Victoria website.

So what's the point of having a temporary inflatable pool when you need to install a permanent safety barrier???

    • You make an excellent point. I would say best speak to local or state authority in regards to this because, yes you are correct 'Practical point of view' - for a $60.00 pool, cost of $1000's + labor etc for installing fence would be ridiculous ask from any consumer.

I don't want to raise another drama within a drama, however, for people who have genuinely chosen a lifestyle of being a couple without children, really isolates them yet again.

Long story, contact local council or state authority for best response to avoid legal fines or fees etc.

      • Agreed. It's tough. Whilst there are so many horror stories, there are also so many fond memories of putting an inflatable pool up in the back yard whenever we wanted. That slightly chlorine-y, back-yard tap water smell, "diving" for gum leaves, finding a dead mouse in one of them at one stage, and also using that pool to hold emergency water come bushfire season. It's a sad shame that stuff happens.

I live within 50m of public swimming baths so I won't be needing

I hope you comment on every food related post with "I have food already in my cupboard so I won't be needing" as well.

I also read the mobile phone deal on my mobile phone.

      • Food is temporary, a view is permanent.

  • Anyone knows does NSW required fence if i setup the pool indoor?

  • sweet, found my new pond for my fish

  • I'm actually pretty disappointed that places are allowed to sell these inflatable pools. Can be pretty confident that none of those sold have a fence installed around them.
