I think it's time we had a deal on a P class Dell monitor for a change

condition is "AS NEW" and while Dell Outlet contact told me these are new, some ozbargainers report that you might tell them apart from a brand new system (from the comments on a recent purchase, the screen was new but stand wasn't), so I am updating listing to refurbished to be on the safe side.

same 3 year warranty as buying retail

old deal expired so here we go again

$219 delivered gets you:

  • 24" 1080p IPS panel
  • full sRGB coverage, 8bit color!
  • VGA, DisplayPort, HDMI inputs
  • height adjustable stand with tilt, pivot, swivel!
  • USB hub built in (2x USB ports on the back, 2x USB ports on the left side)

  • Currently using two of these side by side, perfect monitor very thin bezel.

ten years ago I thought 1080p monitors will be quickly phased out and replaced with better res and refresh rates, just like other electronics.

    I'm wrong, and I'm stuck with a 10 year old 1080p monitor.

    • when scaling issues are a thing of the past I guess

I still prefer 1080p on 24" monitors and 15" laptops as it works best with 100% scaling (means no scaling in play)

  • I also have these Monitors , will definitely recommend them

  • If you're OK with 23", P2319HE can be bough for only $179 at Skycomp
    (https://www.skycomp.com.au/dell-p-series-p2319he-23-full-hd-…)

    • $31 shipping, you get an extra inch for $10

  • Where does it say 100% sRGB?

          thank you
I am in hospital with limited access to the internet
so not sure why I got the neg for people not willing to read the page I linked

          • +1

            @shabaka: I hope you are okay <3

            • @LiMaaa: thanks for concern, just a quick operation :)

      • I didn't neg you but the link you've provided does not have 100% sRGB written anywhere.

          1. open link
          2. scroll down to Quick specs
          3. at the end there's "see more tech specs"
          4. click it
          5. there is lots, including "72% NTSC" which means full sRGB coverage (or at least close to)
          • @shabaka: Well that confirms that it's not really there. 72% (CIE1931)-> 72% NTSC -> 99%sRGB ~ 100%sRGB!

I have a P2417H and was hoping the P2419H is an improvement as the colours I have is not vivid as 10 year old iMac. Not sure if my display is faulty.

These are good, but I'd rather put the cash towards 1440p at this price point.

    • They're not really in the same neighbourhood though.

2560x1440 is pointless on a 24" monitor and a decent 27" monitor with a 1440p resolution starts at around $370.

This is still an epic deal for a high-end 24" IPS monitor; you'd need to spend over $450 easily to get an equivalent high-spec 27" 1440p monitor.

      • +1

        I concur.

        24" is perfect for 1080p

also the larger the panel, the harder (read: you need to pay more) to get good backlight uniformity.

        • That was a great price but deals like that are far and few in between.

If you search OzBargain, that Dell S2721 is literally the only brand-name 27" monitor posted on here for under $300 dollars and even then, it's definitely a lower-spec 27" monitor.

$350 is the going rate for an entry-level 27" monitor and $450 - 500 is what you can expect to pay for a high-end one.

      • I actually beg to differ. I have a 24" Dell 1440p monitor that I snagged for $150. I just sit closer to it, no problems at all at 1:1 scaling.

Kogan also has a reasonable deal going right now for a 24" 1440p, at $199.

        • I agree, Dell Outlet regularly has deals, towards the start of the year I got a P2418D for $129

      • +1

I disagree. 2k 27" monitor on my deals has been as low as $240. They have come almost every 2 weeks and you can expect another end of Oct. ;)

        • Yeah some examples would be great.

I can see Full HD 27" monitors for under $300 on My Deals, but all of the 2K models are well over $400.

        • +1

S2721D for $240 is a viable deal alright

that is if someone truly needs 27" and 2k, doesn't mind waiting for a deal to drop, and doesn't mind a non-adjustable stand

keep up the good work and make them permanently that price :)

      • I wouldn't say pointless - my 24" 1080p monitors look terrible on MacOS (text rendering), so wouldn't mind 1440p. Not as annoying on Windows though.

        • I had a MBP paired with a 2K monitor until last year and the text was small and scaling on Mac OS was horrible compared to windows. I ended up rendering at 1080P and you know how a 1080P looks on a 1440P monitor.

  • I got this "as new" monitor a few weeks ago. Although the stand base had some blemishes (which I was able to wipe off with damp cloth), the screen seemed brand new. Once installed, you can't tell this apart to an actual brand new unit.

    • I am going to trust my fellow ozbargainer over Dell Outlet salesman and update the listing to refurbished to be on the safe side

      Thanks!

PS I will attempt to convince them to drop the price further then.

      • I want one of the panels only, as I have monitor arms on my desk already. I'm going to have a crack at getting an order without the base, and perhaps a discount.

  • I would argue this is a better deal for more or less the same features - minus the USB hub.

Unless the panels are more different than I think?

    • design and connectivity are the main selling points of this model. the one you link only allows height adjustment.

this one pivots and works in portrait mode. plus has a USB hub

if you don't care about any of that, the other one is a better deal, sure

      • the S2421HS has a fully adjustable/pivot stand so can go vertical too - according to the little animations on the product page anyway?
The only difference I really see are the P series has the USB hub, and the S series has 75hz and freesync.
The latter of which are more valuable to me, but perhaps not everyone.

I run two of these with one in portrait orientation and they're pretty nice for office work. I recently switched from a single 27" 1440p display and thought that I would miss it and was tempted to pick up one of those S2721DGF that everyone's been harping on about. But then I came to the conclusion that I wouldn't be gaining all that much for $500.. yes I would get that sweet, sweet 165Hz refresh rate for gaming and butter smooth browser scrolling. Hard to justify for that price.

What put me off was the reports of the S2721DGF running hot and dissipating a lot of heat - the same issue that I had with my previous 27" display and something that I don't get with the new 2 x P2419H setup. These panels barely emanate any heat and are literally cold to the touch.

    • I am pretty sensitive to light and looking for monitors that really go low on brightness.I have used U2412M earlier and it went pretty low on brightness where I had to keep the brightness and contrast at around 10 and 8 respectively to get it as bright as a paper next to it. However with my current benq XL2411 gaming monitor, I have kept both bightness and contrast to 0 and have used a dimmer software to further bring the brightness down by another 50% and yet it hurts my eyes.

Do these go low on brightness enough to not cause eyestrain? In a brightly lit room at night using bulbs, how much brightness and contrast do you have to use if you have to get it to a white paper level intensity? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks!

      • I have these set to the default of 75% for brightness and contrast and haven't found a need to adjust it up or down in a moderately bright, halogen-downlight-lit room.

When I dial the brightness AND contrast all the way down to 0, the screen goes completely black and I can no longer make out any content. I'm guessing this would be dark enough for your needs?

        • Perfect. Thanks mate :)

      • Can you see in the dark or something?

        • Imagine trying to get sleep if that was the case!

  • Why is this deal marked expired when the price is still 219?

    • because Dell told me that the promotion ends at 7pm on 16th :) looks like it doesn't
