  IMHO, it is cheaper to get the items your site is selling from overseas. Most of these stuff are imported anyway, so why not just import it ourselves.

  Couple of examples…

  Castle cake topper:
  Your site: $77.90 (shipping excluded)
  Amazon: $49.57 shipped.

  Heart cake topper:
  Your site: $77.90 (shipping excluded)
  Amazon: $52.48 shipped

  Even with the 10% off, it is still much cheaper to buy them from overseas. All these savings do add up when you get little things here and there, and this is especially the case for a wedding. Of course if you're planning to wed in a hurry, then buying local may be ideal. But of all the people that I know who have had a wedding reception, they usually plan months and months in advance.

  I'm not going to neg your post as I understand that you're running your business from Australia and the overheads here are higher. But this site is about getting the best bargains possible, and I don't think your store fits that category.

    Firsty, not all our stuff is imported alot of our Cake Toppers are designed in Australia.
    Secondly, clearly you havn't ever had to source wedding supplies, 99% of stores don't ship to Australia. INCLUDING Amazon.

    Also there are still people out there that don't feel safe ordering from overseas. As this is an AUSTRIALIA site, and we are one of the cheapest wedding supplies online store in Australia and on top of that we are offering 10% off, this is a good bargin and does fit this category.

      I have had to source wedding supplies…. and Pauly is right. It takes talking (not a huge request, just shoot them an email!), but a lot of places will post internationally if you contact them. Amazon will ship internationally too.

      If you are so Australian, can you please learn to spell 'Australia' correctly. Proper grammar and spelling would also be nice.

      I bought virtually nothing from local stores when planning my wedding… Most of the stuff I was buying from overseas I was getting for half the price of local stores. Glad I did because we didn't end up getting married and so it was all wasted anyway!

      p.s. your site advertises 10% off at least every couple of months… you still have the listings up there from June and August - so if it's regular, is this really a bargain?!

        Yes, this is still a bargain. We advertise 10% off when we have promotions.

        Ozbargins is an Australian site, you would hope that when Australian businesses advertise discounts even if you may be able to get it cheaper overseas that you would get support, I dont think there is really a need to comment with personal attacks. If you don't want to purchase and recieve 10% off, then don't.

        We are putting it out there for people that are interested. As mentioned before there are some people that there that don't feel safe ordering from overseas, we are hear to provide for that market.

      I've ordered cake toppers a few times for my kids birthday parties from ebay… often i've received the items within a week !!! faster than many australian stores would ship…

      Really? Care to provide examples? As far as I can tell, most if not all the toppers from your site seem to be from Weddingstar.

      Look at the two links again. They DO ship to Australia, hence the prices I've noted with shipping inclusive. Those are the only two searches that I made, and I'm sure I can find many other Amazon sellers that do ship to Australia as well.

      Hence why I did not vote negative, since you are an Australian business. But cheapest online store? Well, your prices are average at best. These things are normally sold around the same price for online Aus sites without shop fronts. Here are several items which are actually cheaper than what you're selling:

      And what are your shipping rates like? Just a tip, if it's cheaper than any other stores, then it would be good to disclose this up front without your potential buyers having to sign up. From a buyer's perspective, I would normally just stop browsing a site if I don't know how much shipping costs.

  Just thought I would add I have just checked your web site and seen the same cake toppers online elsewhere for 1/2 the price and all these sites ship to Australia so that doesn't make 10% off your prices cheap at all.
