"To be warn against skin" - well that's concerning

    • ? Obviously it needs to be to get an accurate reading

I think he means it should be "worn"

      • Well it needs to be WORN against skin, not WARN against skin. Gotta warn people about all that dangerous skin hanging around your body :P

Well a search on eBay showed that if you don't need the wireless heart sensor, with other features and can accept one that takes the pulse from your wrist, it will cost you about $6 delivered.

    • +2

Basic ones usually check your pulse when you place your fingers on the metal plates located on the face or side of the watch, and gives you a reading after a few seconds(5-10). The ones with a sensor on your chest give constant feedback without any delay wich make them much safer for some situations(such as riding a bike or jogging) and give much more accurate readings.

The battery on the watch part of my heart rate monitor conked out yesterday. Went to Woolies to buy a new battery- CR2016. They are charging $4 per battery. I can get a brand name posted-from-Sydney CR2016 on ebay for 75c each (6 for $4.50) or a generic posted-from-HK for 21c each (50 for $10.68).

  • Does wearing a wireless transmission device so close to your heart pose a health risk?

    • +3

Yes it does, to quote the manufacturer "Please take out Life Insurance before using the product".

    • +5

I'm sure if any health issues are discovered, they will be easily fixed via a Bios update.

      • but don't flash it ain't broke

        • make sure it's not Gigabyte, as they sucks! (holding tons of Gigabyte here)

        • A lot of people here trying to be Jabba the Hutt wannabes.

      • ICWYDT !! :)

Does wearing a wireless transmission device so close to your heart pose a health risk?

Only if you have a pacemaker running Windows CE.

  • Hm, looks just like the $20 Aldi one.
