8GB Kindle Paperwhite $169.15 (C&C) @ The Good Guys eBay

150
PGGUYS15

Look I know GG have the coupon deal, but it just makes it easier to find stuff if a direct link or you may not have thought to look it up. Not the cheapest of all time on the Kindle, but discounted at least if you need one now.

Bought one for my partner in the last deal last year for Mothers day. She's now using it alot more coming from a traditional hardcopy base. With the free books posted it's a great little space and money saver. Enjoy.

Hmm not bad. Thinking about getting one as a gift

But Prime day is coming…$149 should be possible

    • Definitely look out for it as a gift. My partner still loves paperbacks, but since being gifted this she is using it. No need to store finished hard books. I don't think we have purchased a paperback since.

      • My partner loves paper too, she uses the local library a lot but somehow needs to buy books she enjoys from the library? Does my ozbargainer head in!

But also, yes, space is starting to become an issue…

        • I think it's the satisfaction of turning an actual piece of paper and having that 300 page book sitting there. The new way is actually not to physically own anyhing or less stuff.

You can get nice cases for them. Great feature of word checks, still book marking. Many great features. I did ask her first before buying it and she only really came around due to the space issue we have. If gifting partner maybe assist with getting the books either the free one or Amazon. Once she gets into it I'm sure she will enjot it. It's also compact, so you can take it anywhere.

How much will it be next week on Prime Day?

    • Curious when the day will be? and also would the free trial work with this offer as well?

      • +1

        Next Tue+Wed.

        • Amazing! - would you know if the 30day free trial give me eligibility to buy potentially at $149?

  • +2

Yes I'm going to wait for Prime Day !

  • Thanks for posting.

For those struggling with $$$ there's a $139 less specced model available on amazon au. (less leds, less ppi, not waterproof).

    • Yep another option if price point an issue. For the extra $30 it's worth getting the Paperwhite version if you can go up to that. Mind you I don't even think my partner uses the backlight or at least on low. Seems to have a very pleasant look to the screen. Mm. like real paper strangely.

  • What has been the cheapest price for the 8gb Kindle Paperwhite ?

    • +1

$126 Having a quick look. Has not been that for a longtime.

      • Thanks hopefully Prime Day they can bring it out around that price.

        • +1

You'll know soon. Be good, but wouldn't be surprised if not. More likely the the $149. Amazon know they are onto a good thing. Why sell it cheaper than they need to. Don't forget CashRewards for that deal

I love my 2014 paperwhite. After being a keen "real" book reader for years, I've never looked back. I'm only getting about a week between charges now (was over a month), so maybe I can justify an upgrade!

    • Week is still not bad considering it's 6 years old. Maybe replace it when it only lasts a day.

      • haha! I know, but the new one has bluetooth! and twice the memory…

is it correct that Kobo work better with public libraries through OverDrive etc?

  • How much better is it than to read on an ipad?

    • +1

It is recovery from COVID in 3 days without side effects better than reading on an ipad.
Seriously, as others have reviewed within this deal, people who avid book readers like an ereader. iPads are not even in the same league for reading books.

    • +1

It's a bit better on your eyes and more closely feels like reading a normal book if that makes sense. The Paperwhite has a bit more resolution than the basic version, but any ereader will be better than reading from an ipad. Most ppl who have Ereaders would say this.

      • +1

Yep. It's much gentler on the eyes, battery lasts forever and it's just a nicer experience… if all you want to do is read text/books. I have a Paperwhite and it's great for that purpose. That being said, I rarely use it though since more often than not I'm limited in how many things I want to carry and the iPad does a whole lot more.

  • "This code can't be applied to your order."

    • Checked again works for me. Have you used code more than 5 times. Read T&G. If your not in a hurry maybe see if Amazon Prime sale offers it any cheaper next week.

      • no I haven't used that code at all.
Ended up buying it with Latitude Pay FOMO sale for $149 anyway.
