I would pay with PayPal, take screenshots, and open dispute if it arrives with 8gb

      • Great idea

    • Double check if you are interest of purchase one

Hi, They are a rebadged TongFang Chassis, much like Metabox and Clevo, this is a very good value laptop but I would also check out Metabox from Kong Computers, Kris from memory is the guy there and they offer BTO laptops much like Infinity
I have the Metabox with a 1650 gtx and its good value, $1300 for a 9th Gen i7-9750, 15.6 inch 120hz screen, 2xNVME slots and a 2.5 inch Sata slot, for the money this is a good laptop and actually a good rebrand.

      Pros

      • They are good value and can be better than the "big brands"
      • lots of spec for the money
      • usually good support through reseller channels firmware / drivers and warranty
      • 2 year warranty or greater
      • Can be configured and screen types changed to suit budget
      • usually 2 NVME slots and 2.5 expansion, so good value for gamers / users with requirement for space
      • Support up to 32gb - 64gb DDR Ram

      Cons:

      • Cooling solutions can be garbage and you WILL find throttling happen if OEM cooling solution sucks
      • Thermal paste is rubbish on these builds sometimes ( I would recommend you get it done at the time of purchase, metabox allow changes to paste installed)
-Thermal throttling issues due to poor power adapter or poor cooling solution (I run volt mod on my 9th gen and limit wattage to CPU)
      • When issues happen reseller can either be good or BAD
      • Savings may not be much compared to "brand name" once specs changed
      • Some build quality issues in these types of laptops (ie not perfect edges or poor keyboard / track pads)
      • Suited to someone who is a tinkerer and can fault find issues, don't expect top grade support from some resellers, some will help (Kong computers) others will refuse to care once sold, buyer beware.

Just more detail on these whitebox chassis. These are Tongfang GK5N—O (15") and GK7N—R (17"). They support AMD CPUs up to the 4800H and GPUs up to the Nvidia 2060, for an AMD build. Business that use this chassis are XMG in Europe.

      • You are pro.

      • Cannot be more detailed!

        i7 9750 vs 4600H. Great competition.

or the reseller suddenly goes out of business, like logical blue one.

my laptop definitely had heating issues as it would shut down suddenly while gaming in an air-conditioned room. i loved it while it lasted though as the screen was excellent. in the end, the hinge broke and the screen detached, making it pretty worthless. lasted about 2 years

I will never, ever, ever go for these Clevo / Metabox / whatever OEM rubbish laptops again.

Purely because of what happened with logicalblueone store.

You get awesome specs for the money, but watch out when you need the warranty or support.

My Clevo laptop was running great, then the screen started getting strange vertical bars. Well within warranty, but these dodgy Clevo resellers are the definition of phoenix companies.

I replaced the whole thing myself (at my own cost and time). Could not imagine the general public having to deal with that BS.

      • The Con's part about Cooling Solutions being garbage can happen to any gaming laptops or even some non-gaming i7 laptops (not the U series) as well…

There was even an article from Hardware Unboxed about Asus A15 with Ryzen 4800 having garbage cooling.

Some expensive premium grade gaming laptops like MSI GS65, Omen 15 9th Gen, AW15 R2 have issues with cooling.

In fact, some tongfang chassis-based laptops had been reviewed to have really good thermal performance (check JarrodTech's reviews)

I think if you wanna buy these tongfang laptops, better go through a store where you can ask them to add better thermal solutions at checkout.

    • Thanks Guy's great information.

Throw in a ti and you got yourself a deal

  • +4

Would not pay more than $1000 for a gaming laptop with a 1650.

Would be pretty decent with a ti.

    • I am waiting for a deal as well at that spec and price point.

  • not sure if this is a discounted price. the 4800h version does not have discount with this seller. anyway I m still more interested in the asus g14 with 2k screen. I feel frustrated waiting for a 3090 order…

Reminds me of my first time in 'Nam with the gogo girls.

    • Where are the photos?

      • They exist now only in memory.

    • RRP and not even a good deal for a 1650 laptop anyway

      • Please post a better deal

  • $1400 is not a good deal for a 1650.

  • A point of confusion and concern:
The title (on the sellers site and here) says 16gb of ram but in both the summary and specifications it says 8gb of ram.

  • this deal pops up a few days ago, check out this Dave2D summary released today
