Oztrail Alpine View Jumbo Hooded Sleeping Bag $69 Delivered (RRP $145) @ Snowys

100

Was looking to get myself a sleeping bag and came across this. Not sure of the quality but seems to be a genuine discount as the next cheapest I could find was $99.95 on sale at Freddy's.
On the website it says it's rated at -7° but I'm pretty sure that's incorrect cos every other website I've checked says it's rated at -12°. External dimensions of this jumbo size is 230x90cm but the Mega size (235x100cm) is also on special for $79 (regular price $155).
These sleeping bags are designed to be able to be zipped together so make sure you select the side that you want your zip to be on.
This is on clearance but the site is showing as plenty of stock.

It is a -7 comfort, and huge. I do find it very easy to jam the zip on this one, have to be very careful doing it up. Paid $72 about 1.5 years ago from some camping store on eBay.

    • I've just double checked the Oztrail website and the Alpine View is rated at -12°. https://www.oztrail.com.au/collections/bedding/products/alpi…
Not that it would make much difference to me, being in Perth and all. And unlikely to be travelling anywhere remotely cool in the near future :/
Besides the zip jamming (which sounds bloody annoying), do you think this is a good sleeping bag?

      • It’s a -12 extreme and -7 comfort, says so on the bag when you get it.

I like it very much, I’ve only used it down to -2 though.

      • Not much good if it’s hot, I have a +2 for warmer times, and in qld summer just use a sheet or liner.

Oh that is one thing a liner is a good move as the jumbo is quite hard to clean, well bathtub wash basically… much easier to clean a liner,

      • Just checked and I have a mega not jumbo, not that it should make any difference to its.
comfort. It is certainly roomy which I like.

  • Sorry a noob question but if you want to zip them together you get one right and one left?

    • Sorry I don't know much about it either but from my research earlier, it appears to be that way. Tentworld sells some Oztrail sleeping bags in twin sets and the description says that one left hand zip model and one right hand zip model are included. Interestingly, Snowy's are the only ones I've found that actually give you the option to choose which side you want the zip on. Hope that helps.

    • my 25yr old Roman bags you can do that… not many do these days when I've looked at replacing them :(

  • OZTRAIL bags are crap! Don’t buy if you want this to last more than a month. I bought their -10 sleeping bag and after 15 uses all the stitching fell apart and the zip broke. I emailed them and they refused to replace it.
