FINISHED! THEY'VE CHANGED IT :-( 16gb USB A-DATA FOR $18

277

SORRY ABOUT THAT GUYS, BUT APPARENTLY THEY MADE A MISTAKE AND CHANGED IT ON US. LETS HOPE THOSE WHO ORDERED IN TIME WILL GET IT.

"Me personally I was asured that it was legit because when I canceled my other 8gb one, I had shown him the link to the 16gb usb and had said nothing about the price, he just said cancel the 8gb and order that one." So if I get a call, I'm complaining because I already spoke with staff member before I ordered it, who didnt say that it was a mistake, he should have mentioned it if it was but didnt."

This is another usb from I-tech, which apparently it is the same company as I-buy which are selling those 8gb USB sticks for $14. Although it is A-data, 16gb is really good for $18.

Again this company is in Ultimo Sydney, and pick up is available

Suite 35, Level 2, 330 Wattle Street Ultimo NSW 2007

Sorry if anyone made an order already on the 8gb, but I think you can cancel/change that order. Or just buy both, they're both a bargain.

From the review that Sycotek posted, this usb is superfast and is well worth the price, get it quick.

It reviewed very very well - uberly tempted!!!

    • Ordered 4x online this morning - 29th July.

Order accepted and no mention of out-of-stock, or stock levels.

Will see if we get a call in the next day or so.

  • Jeepers.. these things are getting seriously cheap. That's awesome :)

  • gee how cheap is this? is this even real! :D

the cheapest 16Gb's I've seen have been over $50

  • Very nice price, I've ordered a couple but appears to no longer be in stock?

  • This is seriously cheap. I paid more than this for a 2GB drive just months back. Shipping though, is a tad bit expensive.

  • $14 postage almost doubles the cost of this "bargain"

    • That's why i mentioned pickup to get this bargain at the $18 price, but even it posted at $32 total, this is the cheapest 16gb I've seen!

  • $14 Delivery fee puts me off but still a great price.

  • Definitely going to get one of these I reckon, probably do a group buy so the price is way cheaper. $18 is unbeatable, A-DATA are a decent brand too (top tier flash manufacturer IIRC).

EDIT: Awesome deal, just ordered 12x of these to share with friends and all. Price is like $20 each after shipping (which came to $23 all together). Paid via CC and copped a $4.78 surcharge which is fine. Here's hoping they actually arrive!

  • Or maybe someone here is kind enough to purchase this off them in bulk via pickup, and redistribute it via a cheaper shipping channel? i.e. $5.50 post satchel? :P

  • If it's too good to be true, then maybe it is..

  • Awesome price but disappointed with shipping too.

They claim $14 for anywhere in Australia up to 3kg but if you order more than 3 of these USB drives the price of shipping jumps up.

No way 3 of these weigh 3kg!

    • So I think the best we can do is buy 3 of them (if u can find 2 mates to buy) for $68 including shipping. So cost of one 16GB will reduce to less than $23.00 instead of $32.00

      • Well it's not too bad if you order a larger number. I ordered 7 here, one for each of us in the family and a friend wanted 2, and the shipping was $23 all up. At just over $3 a pop it's not too bad and while the weight will be low I wouldn't be surprised if volume wise the larger orders do take up a bit of room. Heck 7 for $23 is better than 3 for $14 anyway.

  • I just order 6

    $21.10 ea

Still reckon i will get an email saying it was a misprint

  • If someone successfully manages to receive the goods can they please let everyone else know. After a small bit of research on Whirlpool this company doesn't look like it has very good customer service, nor delivers some goods. Anyway just a word of warning!

  • I highly highly doubt it too..

I work in the industry and I know for sure that you can NOT get any 16gb for $18, unless, it's fake or hacked memory.

  • That is scary.
The fact is they require payment online even for pick up order (which will cost them cc processing fee and a phone call to pick up)
My place is only 10 minutes walk from the shop.
I will do inspection this afternoon after work :D

  • I've bought some RAM from this company (actually this is from another web site - www.abit.com.au) last year, it is okay as after the payment, I got received the call in 2 days to notify me the item is ready for pick up, no issues on that deal

  • This is out of stock. ETA is about 2 weeks.

  • Hi all, this is a mistake, I emailed them, and they said it was meant to only be 2GB.
It is too good too be true.

  • 2GB for $18 is BS… They also list the 8GB version for $16… Is that a mistake too? Hopefully they honour this for people who have already paid.

  • I have called them up but no one picked up. I ordered 2 of these and they should honour it. As Psike said, it's dodgy to suddenly say 2GB is $18 while 8GB of the same brand and model (A-DATA C702) is $16. If they don't honour, I shall never buy from them again and will lodge a complaint.

    • They have also changed the 8GB to 1GB for $16. It's rip-off.

  • Guys .. I put neg- to warn other people that they may not getting 16gb. Please be aware that i-tech apparently may not be supplying 16gb for $18 (instead may be offered 2gb).

  • got a call today, and they said it's 2GB, miss print~ duh~

  • Gee. With 1,000+ click throughs from OzBargain alone I wondered how many people actually bought it, and how many calls they need to make to apologise. Even OfficeWorks don't always honour every mistake they made on catalogues so I wonder whether i-Tech would do so.

    • scotty, would love the ability to revoke a vote that is more than 12 hours old ;)

  • I also called, and confirmed that they do not have the 16GB version… If you don't want the 2GB version, you will have to cancel your order. They person on the phone said to send an email to [email protected]

    • I have a documented confirmation of an order for 4x 16gb drives at the advertised price.

If they want the order cancelled they will have to do it themselves.

If they send me 4x 2gb drives I will do a full chargeback on my credit card, and they can arrange to send someone to collect the 2gb drives at my convenience.

  • Well said Horizon.

This "bargain" needs to be updated.

  • Hey,

    I got the cancel notice.

Funnily enough I suspected something was up after I got the order confirm.
    Its a 16Gb device not 16GB.

    Funnily 16Gb is 2GB!

    Hey errors happen.
And if you were to insist on the letter of your confirmation they would actually have to give you a 16Gbit USB (2GB) for $18 - not a bargain.

    Get over yourself Horizon.
I ordered a HD projector for the grand price of 0.00 of a victorian site a coupe of months ago. In the instructions I told them they need to fix the price. It happens.

    K

    • Did you actually RTFP?

  • That's kind a cheating if they really mean 16Gb as 2GB because the common unit for usb stick is GB not Gb.
Noone on earth would list a usb stick product with Gb unit.

    • Always credit incompetence over conspiracy!

  • They have sent me an e-mail stating it was a typo and meant to say 2GB and not 16GB.

They mentioned they will not charge my credit-card (as they haven't yet) and will only proceed with the 2GB order if I reply to them and state I wish to go ahead with the 2GB and not the 16GB.

Fair enough, they made a mistake, at least they didn't charge my card. Not going to hold it against them, but they should take more care when updating prices.

Guess I'm still going to have to get a 2.5" portable USB :)

  • Just wait a few months and this price will be the norm for this size.

  • They should honour what they advertised on the site.

Better companies would do it, even if it meant a small loss…..

    • a small loss…

Let's guess how many people have actually ordered :) Not sure whether that will be categorised as "small loss".

    • Actually no. Shops are required to offer you a product at the advertised price, BUT they may choose to instead withdraw it for sale. So it pretty much means they don't have to give it to you at all. Pretty stupid really. Heard it on the radio.

  • Loss of reputation from what they have done is going to cost them too - I wouldn't trust these %^@#s with any future purchase

I rate them as highly as I do used car salesmen and snake oil peddlers….

    • Same here…a few IT companies (Queenland Computer Group / Gamehead / Quick Shop) had done this to me before…never shop with them again.
Maybe we should come up with black list so others can avoid :)

  • Voting neg to help drive the figure down. If they had no E&OE condition (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E&OE) they're legally obliged to provide 16Gb at this price.
