  there's a reason why these things went out of fashion:

  "Power Source: 10 'D' batteries"

  a set of 10 fully charged Ds where more common than unicorns when I was growing up.

  still.. it should make a worthy companion when playing cricket/bbq down at the park etc.

  bit of a warning about this product:

  "I purchased the 2 speaker boombox after trying many other ipad and smartphone compatible units. The TDK looks cool and sounds great. It even impressed my neighbor who only buys Apple branded products. Although heavy I awas pleased with having a portable battery operated unit and then…
  I left a set of batteries in for a couple of weeks and no power. Bought another set of batteries, the unit worked and I again left it for a couple weeks. No power when I tried it. Mind you I made sure the unit was turned off. I contacted TDK and they performed atest and they had the same problem after 3 days.
  What was their response? That is what the unit does. It cycles through the batteries and drains them. Take the batteries out when not in use.

  Now I have to carry the boom box and a sack of batteries if I want to use it away from home."

    i think it's much more beautiful than most boomboxes i've seen! i agree you can find cheaper ones, ones with better sound or more options, smaller ones etc but that's a matter of taste! can you name one product you think it's better than this?

    m8, i don't make those prices! IMHO 400 instead of 649 is a "good" deal for this decent boombox!
    And back in the day you couldn't buy a usb, iphone compatible, rds fm boombox so i really don't understand your comparison!
