Well, that makes it a little easier for me to silently pretend this deal doesn't exist.

I suppose I should thank you for doing me a favour and saving me the temptation.

  • Do games even support this res

    • +2

      yep :)

    • most of them but cut scenes will be letter boxed.

    • …some don't….32:9 aspect ratio is not very common…..quite rare actually…

  • +1

Thanks Op, got 2 for the full body surround effect!

  • So tempted but my pc will struggle. I am waiting on the 3080 super cards to come Out. This is a good price but should I wait or miss out how?

  • +2

Just us, a pile of Chinese food and a couple of 'f*** off' spreadsheets

  • LOL, probably a bargain for what it is.. but it seems like the most inconvenient to use monstrosity. Can't begin to imagine how narrow that display will look.

    • +7

It's the same as two 27inch monitors side by side without the bezel in the middle.

      • -6

sure.. but I feel like not having a bezel in the middle is more inconvenient. Window management is more of a pain.

Also.. Say you're watching a video and want to watch it full screen. How does that work? Would you have half the screen black because of the aspect ratio?

Which also I feel kinda nullifies the whole HDR thing (which is useful mostly for videos)… you won't be able to watch anything without black bars on the sides lol

        • Yes videos act as you expect the HDR is more for games

The screen is great some games you also play 16:9 though due to bad zoom

I work on this screen and it's essential for me now for some of my work so good

        • Most HDR movies have a wider than 16:9 aspect anyways. This is perfect for IMAX.

      • +1

Try Asus Bezel Free kit, that thing looks sick

  • Gonna need a bigger desk……

  • +1

This monitor is absolutely perfect if you are into sim racing , i have one and much prefer it to 3 x 27" screens and VR (HP Reverb) for sim racing.

    • Sim racing is exactly why I would want this monitor.

I know you get more FOV from triples but a single cable/stand is just so much cleaner

Some games struggle with stretching from what I've seen though.

  • +4

Can use HONEY15 for further $15 off.

  • Do you think this will be sharp for productivity i.e. Microsoft office? I'm not a serious gamer but the dell is equivalent is IPS and $2k

    • +3

      It's great for productivity.

IPS is mostly associated with colour reproduction for artists not office tasks although some just prefer IPS. I think the main things to consider with the Dell a part from price is that its got less of a curve, so unless you sit right the way back a monitor this wide its better having the curve.

      • Dell also has 3H coating which prevent glare. Some will like this, but I for one do not like it as it make the screen looks matte.
I prefer glossy look and I do not have glare issue.

  • +1

I'm surprised they got down this cheap, looks like they are running them out rather than maintain both lines. That's good news means the G9's will most certainly come down in price as well.

As I said in the other thread, this monitor is great, no regrets paying $1900~ odd but at $1500 this is a steal.

Office works also sell this, might be able to price match if more convenient etc.

Awesome OP! Just got one price-beat at Office Works in Victoria. Perfect timing too, I've been looking to get this for a few weeks and nearly bought one yesterday at full price!
Just in time as well with my Nvidia 3090 order! The perfect video editing combo!!!

  • This would be nuts for some Tallscreen gaming

Very tempted to replace 3x24 at 16:10.

  • +1

@_@ I don't think my computer can run any games at this resolution…. 5120x1440.

….i wonder with all the curve monitors have anybody tried hooking up curve monitors in a circle with a 360 rotating chair in the middle. Lol

    • Someone has but I cant find you a pic of it…

      • +1
        • Nah it wasnt a commercial…it was some guy sitting in one of those gaming chairs and had like a surround view setup of his monitors all hanging from the ceiling or whatever stands he used and had a keyboard and mouse on a seperate stand and racing wheel, gear stick and pedals a bit to the left and he was wearing what looks like the occulus rift in the photo…..it looked hella awesome……shame I didnt save the picture….

plus apparently that commercial's use of the 360 surround setup is fake if you watch closely one guy walks through one of the monitors…..so unless the monitors are holographic…….its all fake….cgi effects added to make it look good.

  • If they had power delivery via USB-C I would buy.. very tempting though, been eying this monitor for a while and this price is probably the lowest it has ever been. I don't think higher curvature and refresh rate on the new G9 is worth the extra money.

Also looks like this one is brighter than the G9?
    G9
    420cd/m2
    Brightness (Typical)

    This one:
    Brightness (Typical): 600cd/m2
    Peak Brightness (Typical): 1000cd/m2 cd/?
    Brightness (Min): 600cd/m2

  • thought this was the G9 for a second.. got excited :(

  • Feel sad i paid $1500 for my lenovo y44w. But back then these were pushing $2500.

Ultrawide is so much fun for gaming.

Officeworks price beat here too - $1519.05. Yippee.

    • are you serious OW has this monitor too? (fingers crossed)

    • Is your officeworks order under review or did you get a confirmation? mine has been stuck under review for the last 5 hours or so

      • +1

Fully confirmed and paid on the phone. Text message received with ETA for delivery at my local store.

        • Cheers, i better ring up again tomorrow to find out whats up

    excel killer

    • Yep I use the CHG90 for Excel and it's amazing. Does 3 workbooks at once without issue.

  • +2

Have got the 2017 1080p model. 10/10 no need to buy another monitor again.

    Achew
    'scuse me

  • Waiting for LG 38" nano IPS. 3840x1600. The new sweet spot imo

    • What model is the LG one?

    • Me too, saw the 49inch at the shops. It doesn't really feel like two 27inch monitors cause the actual horizontal screen size is too short. I remembered i looked it up and confirmed the horizontal screen is smaller than my current 27inc.

Waiting on dell to announce the new alienware 38inch pricing too…

      • that could be 43" ultrawide. I had few 27" monitors and I directly compared with crg9 and its horizontal size is identical to all my 27"s.

        • Oh errr oops I meant vertical …you know the screen size top down, not left to right

          • +1

@bowtiehoon: yeah man I meant vertical size. you chose wrong word so I used same one just for your understanding. 43" ultrawide is two 24"s and 49" ultrawide is two 27" size. so If you saw something ultrawide and shorter screen height than 27" monitor must be 43" ultrawide.

            • @Jamie777: Hot Damn you're right!

Not only do I not speak real good. I can't read numbers either!

Bah I will still wait for the 38wn95c to come down in pricing

  • Purchased this monitor from Officeworks 2 weeks ago. Called up and organised a change of mind. They'll be picking up my old one and I have purchased a new one from them for $1519.

Can highly recommend this monitor, both for gaming and productivity. I am using a 2080ti to power it and haven't had any issues with getting to 120fps in games, so it's been a blast!

    • Is it really that easy to return from Officeworks? They do free pick ups too?

      • Yep was really easy. Just called up and the lady that helped me was really great. They organised a free pick up and had it picked up by the next day. Just waiting on the new one to come in this Thursday.

  • Surely "girth" should form part of the model name.

  • I have this monitor and it is fantastic in many ways, but it was a step down in colour quality from IPS.

I've stuffed around with settings, I have a calibrator. I am very happy with the monitor but be aware that you will not get the effortlessly excellent colour reproduction you enjoy on an IPS. That's the only downfall, for me.

  • I have one of these and its incredible. Highly recommend this at the price above. Fantastic as a workstation monitor or gaming monitor.

    • whats the experience like when watching videos on youtube or netflix? are there just huge black bars on the side of the monitor?

      • Yes

Watching videos is fine - unless you hate the aforementioned black bars

      • Depends on the aspect ratio of the video, which dictate the size of the black area.
Honestly though, I'm never playing videos on full screen, there's no need to maximise the image as the screen is fairly large.
Also the screen does well to not push too much light through the black areas.
        Hope that makes sense.

  • What, no "1440p is too low res for 49"" comments?

People always say that when its 34"UW at 1080UW.

    • I think you're missing the piece of information that the CRG9 isn't any larger, vertically than a 34 UW.

  • Given that people who own this are quite happy, I can only imagine how good the G9 is then. I am tossing between the two and curvature of the G9 is stopping me from getting this.

  • Hmmm to get this now or wait for the G9 but risk the bezel falling off the screen D:

  • Hdr1000 and 4k 2.35:1 film….fancy

  • Apparently BingLee doesn't ship this monitor to QLD. Will I have any chance price matching it in the local OfficeWorks anyway?

    • Can't hurt to ask. Ring them up.

    • QLD works. I made it with calling 1300 633 423. Just do it.

Actual experience to use this monitor

    • lol

    • Hahahahaha…only if you have crap eye sight….us normal people would be able to view the whole monitor no problem.

  • +1

Thanks! got it price beat at OW for $1,519! Picking up in 5 days, can't wait!

    • did you call or visit the local store? if you did call, which sub tree to talk to rep via 1300 633 423?

      • +3

Correct. Call them, go through the menu (2, 5, wait IIRC) and someone will answer after a short hold.
Give them them the Product number SYSC49RG90 and tell them you want to Price Beat with Bing Lee.
Make sure they don't offer you price match like they tried to offer me. I said "no thanks, I want Price Beat 5%!"

        • +1

omg you are my hero. I made it! I can collect on Tuesday. Thank you so much!

    • Thanks 😊 Just picked up from OW for $1519 - massive box! Love it
