Hi, sorry I'm new to gardening but am planning to start a veggie garden soon. How long do the seeds last? (E.g. do they have an expiry). Could I store the seeds for a few years?
Storing for years will have a negative impact on germination.
seeds generally stay dormant pretty well for a few years at least, provided you keep them dry and dark. Tomato seeds are tough, I still got them popping up here and there surviving the compost
Yes, they will be fine to be store for a few year. Just keep them in a airtight bag, away from light and dry :)
I vacuum seal mine. Some of my pumpkin seeds are 3 years old and still ok.

But yeah, save the seeds from what you buy/grow and just throw them in the garden at the end of winter.
I planted my tomato seeds in trays today (Tassie), bit late due to being away for a couple of weeks… I ended up using a mix of very-old 1999 and 2010 seed because I haven't had a chance to buy new ones, lol, fingers crossed.

All the varieties in the pack will go well in VIC. Plant in Spring and harvest in Summer/ Autumn… none will give yields all year round :)

If you have a good greenhouse, you might be able to extend the season by a few months.
I used to grow tomatoes but they kept getting eaten by hornworms and during that time I never had a fully grown tomato fruit. Now I never grow tomatoes again.
