Buy 1 Get 1 Free - DVDs, Blu-Ray & 4K (Selected Titles) @ JB Hi-Fi

Looks like another deal from JB for physical media. Prices for many have obviously been jacked up. But still there are few good ones here and there.

Got excited for a second, but not like the mid-year sale. Selected titles e.g. 113 of the 576 4K titles included.

Yup, I was excited too, sorry for that
      Updated the title

Hehe no problem :) Thank you

I couldn't find $100 worth (for free shipping in VIC) worth buying since not many new movies being released. Only one I am after is 'The Hunt', which hopefully Amazon match the price soon.

This brings down the Star Wars movies to $12.49 each. Nice deal.

These are the pick of the bunch.

A lot of the others were jacked up in price when they started the B2G1F. Bad Boys, 1917, etc for $40 each when Amazon have had them for $25 each for ages.

  • There is a suspicious amount of Disney titles included in the 4K section.
With this article on Disney denying they are exiting 4K releases in the back of my mind, I really hope it isn't the beginning of winding down remaining stock.

    Where's the 8K UHD blurays??

    • Movies are Post edited in 2k or 4k were special effects, CGI are added ext… Only old analogue film could be remastered in 8k .. non have done so yet and even then the 140gb UHD disks are not big enough to fit that much data. 8k is a little pointless for movies. All we will get is upscaled content.. some digital content maybe an option.. not sure what speed your internet would need to be

      • Then shoot in pure 8k resolution, having intermediary step(Which I assume is where all the cgi and special effects and all that is done in) also done in 8k native and then the final production in 8k, and then we have our 8k uhd bluray movie! ☺

even then the 140gb UHD disks are not big enough to fit that much data.

Hmmm, might need an 8 layer bluray disc, each layer doing 50gb, so 8x50=400gb…or a new disc format for even greater disc density…

8k is a little pointless for movies.

Not quite, when we have 8k tvs….so there's at least some sense in it…besides, we'd even see more details than a 4k movie! And maybe see movies in 120fps…

All we will get is upscaled content..

Yes….some are upscaled, but there are some true natives….there was a site that used to keep track of which 4k uhd movies were fake and which ones were real…

some digital content maybe an option.. not sure what speed your internet would need to be

If bluray bitrate for 4k uhd is 100Mb/s, then 8k would be at least twice that…..so 200Mb/s minimum download speed for consistent streaming of 8k uhd bluray content on a digital streaming service….unless you're gonna be one of those streaming services that retranscodes the whole movie using less bitrate just to statisfy those people who shitty net to watch it and then those who do have great net able to keep up cant watch it at its untouched quality because netflix or hulu compressed the shit out of it….and may result in block artifacts…
