LOGITECH SHOP DEAL - ENDS 6:00PM TODAY
$199 Delivered, RRP is $599, frequently $299 in Logitechshop.

IF YOU DO NOT NEED THE RF BLASTERS - then it is probably better to wait for the Harmony ONE to be $109 again.

KEY FEATURES:

Wireless RF technology eliminates the need to aim your remote at your home-entertainment system, and you can even control devices you can’t see (from up to 30 metres away).

IR blaster system makes it easy to extend your reach and turn RF signals into IR commands your devices can understand. Just place the simple-to-install IR blaster and mini blasters near the equipment you want to control.

Full-colour touchscreen provides easy, one-touch access to activities and your favourite channels.

Rechargeable battery with base station means you won’t be looking for batteries when you want to be watching TV and the base gives you a place to put your remote when not in use – so you won’t be digging between the sofa cushions to find it.

  • Wow, i've never heard of a $600 remote!

    • Harmony 1000i was >600 a couple of years back

    • recently bought a 9.99 harmony logitech 300 universal remote.
I think that's the right price for a spare remote. Couldn't understand why people would spend so much money on buying a $100+ remote to control all the units~~ (unless u are on the tv for like 10 hours a day) But nevertheless, 400 dollars cheaper than RRP is an awesome deal.

  • RRP is $599?? what the different between a remote control price at around $50 and $599?
    wireless only?

is it worth to pay more than $500 for a Universal remote control?

    • -2

I would hope that every remote was wireless.
Do you still have a remote that id physically connected to your TV via a cable?

      • The other Logitech remotes are Infrared (ir), not technically called wireless.

        • -2

Infrared (in this case) is the communication of data between two or more devices without the use of wires. I would call that wireless, as would the IrDA and the rest of the world.

    • harmony is quiet flexable remote. I's active based which means that you can customize your own activies. Say, you have a few devices TV, AMP, HD media Player, Foxtel IQ, PVR and HTPC ect.

Once you specify your devices and defined activies, you can use the harmony to Watch TV/Foxtel/Movies/Listen Music ect.

      • I don't believe this model is activity based.

  • Nothing special with the price. Been at this price on and off for the past few months.

  • $199 for a remote control. Insane~ haha. I'll pay max $15 for a universal remote control :)

these are not your standard universal remotes. for those who are unaware of these logitech harmony's - they are based on activities.

for example.. say you have a digital set top box, an amp and of course a TV. If you press "watch TV", it send the appropriate commands to all devices to turn them on and select the right inputs. The volume buttons will control the amp, channel buttons will control the set top box. Its all customisable of course, but the idea is - it does everything for you.

the cheap universal remotes you see in safeway work off brand codes, then you have to constantly tell it what device you wish to control. you program the logitechs from your computer to do exactly what you want them to.

in my opinion - they're a must have in any living room. i purchased the harmony 600 from logitechshop for $49 a couple of months back - and we LOVE it!

    • They are what some would call "wife-friendly" remotes. 8-)

But totally agree that the "rrp" of $599 is ridiculous. $150-200 would be about right IMHO.

    • I believe this model (harmony 900) is not activity based. If you want to program activities the Harmony One is the One to Get! lol, or a cheaper model which also allows activities. I've been thinking to get The One but haven't… $109 via their ebay store last time I checked.

      • this 900 model may not do macros either.
Ive had a couple of the cheaper models and I like them a LOT.
In fact I would have their babies, if it were physically possible…

      • It definitely is activity based.. Major Downsides: No sequence support (i.e. macros), and the display screen takes ~ a second to update when you're scrolling between screens.
