If you get the Ring Protect Plus $150 plan you get 10% off 'select' items. I'd guess if this is on sale it would be excluded, but worth at try - get the trial of the plan, then but the doorbell?
Huge privacy issues. They'd need to pay me a lot of money to use this.
that were never really huge and were quickly resolved.
(Not speaking about you in this case) but the amount of people who go on about RING privacy then later on post deals on Chinese imported cameras etc always makes me laugh
Did not defend them at all
I see they let you out of the penalty box.If you think Chinese manufacturers would not bow down to their supreme leaders if asked to provide camera access then i fear its you who is indeed deluded.
Lol this is Communist China we are talking about. There is no such thing as warrants, patents, copy rights or free speech. Their government will do as they please. They do own all companies in China after all.
Most cheap Chinese cameras never get updates, have master passwords and run exploitable services. In fact most Pen Testing courses use these devices for teaching students.
I though this is Ring doorbell 2 removable battery, get me excited to get one, but this is a ring doorbell 1 (2nd Gen) battery build in with 1080p upgrade from previous Gen1
This is just a normal price everyday. Not a deal :(I’ve had a first gen since forever, is it worth upgrading to second gen?
I still run the 1st Gen … I guess the battery swap is easier but otherwise I don't see a benefit.
In the last time my "rings" are very delayed (like 20-30 sec) so I missed sometimes a delivery - might go back to a normal doorbell again.Do you use the Rapid Ring app? It answers for me quite quickly. Quicker than the full Ring App though mine doesn’t take 20-30 seconds like yours. Might be worth checking your WiFi connection strength (RSSI number).
Just tested my two Ring Floodlight Cams and it was sub 2 seconds to display live video on both of them.
My Ring Doorbell 2 is further away at my front gate onto the footpath so with the weaker WiFi it took 4 seconds.
I will check it out … thanks. The 20 sec is not always. It usally takes around 4 sec (which is fine) … but sometimes I get the 20 sec ring.
@mini_wombat: Try to move the router closer to the doorbell or get a Wi-Fi mesh system going. If you want to upgrade get the 3 and up. As they support 5GHz which should be close to instant live checking. There is also the elite if you want an ethernet connection.
@No Username: Other than video. Why are you guys worried about the wifi strength? Unless it's so bad it just doesn't work?
Irrespective of wifi signal at 1Mbps or 800Mbps equates to single digit milliseconds additional delay for the small amount of data required to trigger a doorbell.
The problem is elsewhere.
@poxy001: Then what do you think the issue is? I've installed 5 Ring 2 Doorbells and haven't had any issues. Door rings are instant and it only takes 2 sec for the video feed to show up on the echo show and fridge. Loading the feed on iPad or phone only takes 3 seconds. If your Wi-Fi is weak or your you have too many devices theres going to be a delay irrespective of how much data is needed to be sent. This is why technology like mimo is important for device delegation.
I just got this 2nd gen (not version 2) model recently for $119 as an upgrade from the original and it is much better. Image quality is significantly improved for day, night, night vision and dynamic range as well as resolution (1080p).
these are garbage. I had several of them and they all were unreliable. Spend the extra and get the pro version.
The pro is more reliable? In what way? My doorbell V1 is very slow and delayed at the moment. Could this be fixed with the Pro?
Any suggested alternatives that doesn’t require paying for subscription for reasonable price?
Just in case you don’t realise, they do allow you to see live action and answer doorbell rings without subscription. It’s the storage and view of videos from previous moments you don’t get.
Subscription is only $4 a month or $40 a year. its worth it if you intent to have only one device as a doorbell.
Motion detection is a plus for these ring devices, give you a footprint notification so you do not miss anything.
Seriously my opinion its worth it, especially in this pandemic period when you have stuffs delivery to your font door.bashar20- Just installed my Eufy wireless doorbell with Homebase. Have it wired so I don’t need to worry about the battery. The best thing is as soon as someone rings the doorbell the phone alert is very quick, around 1 second/near instant. This is both on wifi and via mobile reception.
The only thing I have noticed in my 1 hour of testing so far is that the motion detection is so delayed that you don’t get the alert until the person is at the door ringing the doorbell anyway.
The video footage is very good and audio is very clear if a little delayed at arounds 3 seconds.
So far pretty happy in my admittedly limited testing but no ongoing monthly fees with the Eufy is a major plus.My main door is kinda hidden to the side far from the main gate. I am thinking a security game above the garage may be a better option.
I'm still waiting for mine to ship from Amazon from the Deal on the 4th August..
This is a normal RRP price, not a bargain.
Please note this is Ring 1 (2nd gen), not Ring 2, which is more expensive.Save $1, spend an hour trying to find which office works has one and go for a drive
