IMO, what you need for superior hosing pleasure is a hose with larger diameter. 18mm, or perhaps 25mm. Nicer nozzle does not significantly improve performance.
Took forever to water a 100sqm lawn with a 30 metre hose if its only 12mm diameter - too much water pressure lost due to the long hose.

Surely setup a sprinkler and walk away

My neighbour does this for his front nature's strip, I swear he has a grass fetish.

        • +3

bet you also see him feeling up the grass, running his fingers on the leaf blades haha
A perfectly manicured, tight lawn is next level contentment.

        • Probably a member of Australian Lawn Fanatics group too

        true, true 🤔
there's something satisfying about having fire-hydrant level pressure on the garden hose though - just more immediate and I get to check out for any weeds or pests on the grass as i'm watering in the seasol, fertiliser, pesticides after they're applied.

Not meaning to be a party pooper but…

Sprinkers are banned under the current level 1 Sydney water restrictions.

These twist nozzles in this deal are also banned. Only trigger nozzles are allowed as per the restrictions.

Typical reactionary govt response. 'restrictions apply when we say they do' rather than 'when dam levels are below x for y period if time, then restriction level z applies'

Dams are almost full now, what's the need fir restrictions?

          • +1

@SummerZero: I always wondered if water restrictions are also applied to beer and soft drinks factories.

          • +1

@SummerZero: Contaminated runoff from fires iirc, meaning they pump from clean water deep in the dams and run the desal plant as well. Just one small part of many huge impacts resulting from failed leadership and management at both federal and state level.

But it's so hard to pick a favourite type to use!

Nothing wrong with splashing for a bit of bling on your hoes.

    It's an investment, really.

Everything brass I have ever had leaked, I swear by Gardena from Bunnings now. Poor man pays twice. Or in my case, 5 times.

    My 5c, avoid brass.

    • Interesting… would never have imagined. Wonder if the 'give' in the plastic ones sort of 'mould' better at the coupling?

      • +1

The seal depends on a rubber o-ring. Perhaps the brass components wear the o-rings faster. Once you've got a supply of the right sized o-rings, it's pretty easy to replace them.

      • The advantage of brass is it's sturdiness, if you drive on the hose left on the drive way, for example, it does not break.

        • The aldi ones have not been very strong in my experience. Had one come apart within a few months of use.

It could be a dud, but by then they weren't available at aldi any more. I picked up a brass connector from bunnings for around the $20 mark. It's much heavier and stronger.

    • Thread seal?

my brass are fine after 20 years.. my 2c rings changed though

Teflon tape and new O rings keep these Going indefinitely

Have these from last time they were on sale, absolute garbage. Fails to seal on one of the hose ends no matter how tightly it has been done up. Fittings do not engage other brands of fittings and either don't fit or require extreme force to get coupling to click. The hose nozzle the package comes with won't engage at all with one of the fittings, but does on the other. Fixed by buying a better brand of brass fitting at Bunnings after I got sick of water running down my arm while washing the car.

Stay away from buying this. I bought this last year and water started leaking. I am yet to find a perfect hose accessory which does not give you pain. They all leak or get damaged by sun UV.

  • No mountain bikes for September it seems. It's a shame as I was after another 1. I guess it's supply issues as the culprit.

    • I was hoping for the same thing.

ALDI Special Buys are disappointing at the moment. Looks like if it weighs more than about 500g it doesn't get stocked. Due to the 5km rule in Melbourne I can only check one store, maybe it's just my store. Was looking forward to the camping equipment last weekend but none were stocked. Most of the special buy area is filled up with everyday products.

    • +1

They did mention some special buys items won’t be available in Melbourne, probably to prevent people flocking to the stores.

But even in NSW they only have about 5 of big ticket items in each store. Ridiculous really.

Paying for the word "brass". Definitely not quality. Just buying into the sales gimmick.

  • If the stock does not last and you could not get one , try this its always available at woolies for $13.50

  • So to get or not to get?
    That is the question.
    So many mixed reviews here.

9 bucks try it, probably able to refund is problems?
