Depends on the fish you are going after but sometimes you really do need a quality hook and not some crappy bit of wire that snaps at the first hookup.
I never buy budget hooks for this reason, even with light gear.
I've lost plenty of bream to cheap hooks. You spend so much on gear and bait and stuff…hooks are the cheapest stuff yet the most important so there's no point skimping.
