2 Rebel Whoppers w/Cheese for $9.90 (Was $15.40), Rebel Whopper w/Cheese Meal $6.90 (Was $11.10) @ Hungry Jack's (App Required)

1730

HJ's have lowered the price of their plant based "Rebel" Whoppers (perhaps they're not selling too many, they seem quite overpriced normally). You need to place an order with the app to get the cheaper prices. You can find these in the "Hungry Offers" section of the app's pick up menu. No known expiry date. Also keep in mind that despite the Rebel Whopper being made from soy, it is not suitable for vegans or vegetarians because it is cooked in the same broiler as the real meat patties.

      they taste equally as good

      • +22

Dunno if "meat tastes better than plant-based alternatives" is an original thought lol

Perhaps it was down voted because it's deeply unoriginal and posted in all deals for meat alternatives here?

        • +3

Yep, same old story in meat alternative deals.

        • +3

lol yeah pretty much all vegan/vegetarian deals you'll find these comments

"I'm going to have my juicy steak instead to stick it up to the hippies"

        • -1

I think it's more a comment on the taste, and if they taste like crap to somebody is that really a legitimate reason to down vote? Again, the cancel culture can't handle people who disagree with them

      • +1

It's hardly an original thought. It's the same as the peanuts that post vegan stuff on meat deals. Don't like meat, don't look. Don't like vegan, don't look.

        • I stand by what i said the Rebel Whopper was advertised as tasting the same as a Whopper

It set a high expectation as the Whopper is a cult classic burger - it doesn't even come close to that if anyone who neg me tells me it taste they same they are lying.

Im not saying all planet based alternatives are bad but this one is a mega let down

bring on the negs you hippies!

    • +2

I have to agree, they don't taste like a normal Whopper.

With that said, I don't find them horrible (probably as good as) but they're definately different tastes. I can see why someone might prefer one over the other.

  • +8

No known expiry date, lol…. all their burgers have that

And non vegetarian vegetarian… yep, its a rebel alright.

  • +21

Yummo… Also they are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. That is just a personal choice about how they are cooked. Just change the mayo and cheese to vegan.

    • -7

Just make sure you to tell them not to cook it with the remains of the beef oil that most are cooked with :)
Actually don't that where the flavor comes from lol

      • +3

Actually don't that where the flavor comes from lol

        What?

        • +1

Actually isn't that where the flavor comes from lol

          • -3

@Team America: I get a down vote for correctly answering your question of what he meant. SMH

      • +23

No additional animals died for that beef flavoured oil though, and the beef flavoured oil didn't subsidise the cost of the beef so it's hard to get too upset about it.

        • -7

They just want to complain to feel better about their shitty life

          • +7

@nurbsenvi: Seems like somebody is projecting to feel better about their shitty life…

        • -1

You don't get the point Bud its coming from the REAL BEEF PATTIES left on the the grill lol

        • giving revenue to a burger place causes no animals to be killed? how stupid are you?

    • I've done this twice online and they end up sending me the veggie patties which are disgusting.
Often the staff don't bother to read "Keep the rebel patty"

    • I thought it wasn't because meat contamination is unavoidable

  • +9

I quite like it. Tastes like a dry, slightly burnt Churizo sausage.

  • +5

Did anyone here see a 2xBig Jack deal for $10.90? Expiring 14 Sept? Might be targeted, mate of mine received it in northern suburbs VIC, but just searched my app and can't see it.

  • $3 extra for slice of cheese!

    • That's why I just add my own extra slices from the fridge when I get home

      • +21

I always carry cheese with me just in case.

        • +2

Put it on while they’re watching

        • Even better if you're in a shopping centre. Cheap fizzy drinks (or a BWS) and cheese to go with your burger, now who's the rebel?!

  • +16

I had one a while ago without realising it wasnt meat and I think they're great, much prefer this over a normal whoppers.

      • +8

Newsflash, you don't have to be a (pretend) vegetarian to enjoy a rebel whopper.

      • +10

Because it was on offer for $7 with chips on the app so I ordered it. Then looked it up after I finished it since I enjoyed it and have been having it maybe once a week since.

    • +3

Same here, whoppers are pretty bland, but I still like them. The rebel has some really good spices, much more flavour than a regular whopper.

  • +4

HJ is a joke now. Over price and dare I say the burger is getting smaller?

    • +1

      Agreed

  • +4

    These taste pretty good

  • These taste really good!!

Much better than the veggie patties.

I wish this worked with delivery - sigh

  • Terrible for VIC no one go get it. Need delivery

    • +19

If you think regular whoppers aren't overprocessed, I have a bridge in Bonnie Doon to sell you.

    • +4

Who know you could be afraid of soybeans 😆

ITT: Snowflakes triggered because there are more vego/vegan options out there.

Anyone else on Android having issues with the app over the past couple of months?

    Unable to login with email.

You need to do that CAPTCHA crap and it takes you to a Google privacy page?

    • Hasn't worked for me or family for ages, rubbish app.

      • -1

        R U OK?

        • I would be if the app was working.

          But hey, thanks for checking.

  • +1

    Eureka!

  • Ok deal.. but that hungry jack app… it's so horrible.

  • -4

how many people got to plant and noped right out of there…

  • +7

Thanks OP, these burgers are really good. If they made plant based patties like this, I have no problem cutting down on my meat intake

    • +4

Ummm…they do make plant based patties like this… you've eaten them.. I don't quite get your statement

  • +4

I tried these with low expectations then was pleasantly surprised. Good deal

  • +8

Can these be planted in the garden to grow a burger tree?

  • I hate watching the NBA sometimes.
The american ads show 2 whoppers for $5.

    Crazy

    • +2

      lower minimum wage over there

      • Yeah I know, really low.
I remember going to the Burger King in Miami and the workers had to get their manager because I was talking english…..not spanish haha.

      • also they don't have 401k (super annuation) or health benefits. they can't get full time so, they get nothing and barely get any hours. also the customers and working conditions are horrible. your food over there probably isn't sanitary either.

        • any yet they decide to riot and protest over everything but the wealth inequality

          • +2

@Hvrd: They tried that at wall street and the media ignored them, remember

      • also they don't have 401k (super annuation) or health benefits. they can't get full time so, they get nothing and barely get any hours. also the customers and working conditions are horrible. your food over there probably isn't sanitary either.

    • That sounds more pricier than our deals due to currency exchange and overall food is cheaper over there

    • Hungry Jacks (BK) and McDonalds are way better in Australia, there's just no comparison.

  • +3

I legitimately had no idea these were vegetarian till now, and I've eaten them more than once

  • Are you ok?

  • I see 2 x Big Jack offer in the App but no Rebel Whopper.

    • +3

It’s in the “Hungry Offers” section of the menu, not the vouchers section.

      • Aha Thanks mate. So this cannot be replaced with Vegan whopper cheese? Rebel Whopper is not suitable for vegetarians.

        • +1

You can swap the normal cheese and mayo for Vegan Cheese and Mayo for extra cost

          • @melbourne guy: Thanks mate. Now final check with store to confirm they will not be using beef oil etc for cooking this

  • They’ve had this for a few months now. Wonder how much longer it’ll last.

Their $5 whopper Jr meal isn’t too bad for a snack and drink.

  • +1

    Options, people.
If you don't like it, get a whopper or heck, fire up the McDonald's app and try your luck!

  • +1

I haven't been to Hungry Jacks in months. It has turned into a gigantic rippoff. So many times I've bought 1 of their new burger meal things, & been disappointed & still hungry afterwards. And 7 times out of 10 the chips are stale & bad, & that seriously pisses me off. Not good enough after paying something like $15-17 for 1 meal. For that amount of money I expect some very nice, fresh hot chips. Not stale old chips that have been re-dunked in the fryer to make them seem hot & new.

Also, I didn't like their rebel whooper at all. It had a peculiar flavour & tasted burnt. I never bought it again.

    • +1

Yeah just like Maccas their prices in general are ridiculous now. The voucher deals used to be alright years ago, but they've continually jacked the prices and are no longer worth it.

And agreed about the rebel whopper, tried it once and tasted awful.

  • -4

Disgusting. Good for the soy boys out there I guess

  • -3

    Is this forced vegetarianism

    • +2

Yes when you walk in an employee puts a gun to your head and forces you to eat their rebel burger

      • Ozbargain comments are too friken funny 😂

    • Ruski,

At first, I thought the same.

I love my meat. Cant get enough of it. I thought i would try the Rebel burger thinking that it would be crap BUT, i was wrong. Its actually very good.

Has it stopped me from eating meat? No.

Am I still eating as much meat as I was before? Yes.

Will I buy the Rebel burger again? Maybe.

Its choice. Choice is a good thing.

      • thats surprising and makes me closer to trying it out, I will report back to the community if I decide to go to the 'dark side'

  • It's kinda funny because some vegetarians and vegans are vegans and vegetarians because they care about the environment and all that, which is perfectly fine. But then rainforests (like the Amazon) are getting CUT DOWN to grow these soy beans and make these burgers soooooo ¯_(ツ)_/¯

It's kinda like a task failed successfully situation.

    • +7

Land clearing to grow and feed livestock has a much larger overall impact than consuming the eating the crops directly. People are just doing their bit to reduce their environmental impact not claiming it is non existent. Do you begrudge someone for giving $2 to charity because $2 is not going to cure cancer or get rid of homelessness?

  • The app is so bloody laggy. Is this one of those on-going issues with no fix in site?

    • Maccas app is worse for me. Never works!

      • Funny thing is the McDonald's app has been working well for me lately. I haven't used it for around a month because there are no good coffee deals.

    • I came here to complain about the app too. I don't understand how it can be so slow.

      • I know what you mean. Some of the images only half load and every part of it is slow and jerky. I think it was this bad when I tried using it last year!

  • +1

I’m looking forward to Rebel Big Jack!!! I used to love Big Macs before going vego lol
