    Great marketing 'Big Jacks'

HJs: "can I copy your homework?"

McD's: "yeah just change it up a bit so it doesn't look obvious you copied"

  • +30

It at least look and tastes like a proper, real burger and more closer to what's shown in the picture of the menu. As for McDonald's, not gonna even go there, just simple, plain logic is needed, noth else. Buy both of them, put them in front of you, try them. Crystal clear, what's actual food and what isn't.

There's no science here regarding the 2 burgers, just plain stacker burgers with an additional bread in the middle and both with a "special" sauce that's actually a mix of mayonnaise and mustard with some tweaks, Spices etc.

You sound really passionate about burgers man

    • +1

      Respect!

    • The Big Mac can't be attacked it's been number one since 1968.

    • +2

      Ovaj covjek zna burgere.

      • [This man knows burgers]

        • Translation lol 😂

      • +2

Neko I to mora znati 😂

    • Hungry Jacks dont seem to understand the importance of food sanitation though. McDonalds do the bare minimum, HJ's just don't bother.

    • Both taste the same so there isnt any reason to give HJ more money

  • +14

Tried one of these for the first time on Saturday, might sound stupid but it tastes exactly like HJ's making a Big Mac.

It is distinctly different and not as small as "Big" Macs have gotten and I quite liked it. Next stop after this deal will be the Mega Jack though.

    • keen to give one a go.
How does it compare to a wopper in your opinion?

      • +2

I was very disappointed with it. Go with a double whopper and request the special sauce. It's infinetely better.

    • +3

funny I had the same impression. the meat tasted like 'hungry jacks'.

I think they nailed the taste of the sauce, but used too much

      • I think they nailed the taste of the sauce, but used too much

This 100% - way too much sauce for my tastes.

      • +4

I think HJs has the staff put the sauce on whereas Maccas uses a caulk-gun type device that measures the amount. So sometimes HJ might get a little light or heavy on the sauce. I've had mayo heavy whoppers.

        • +1

It most definitely is manually applied. This was the atrocity of a Big Jack that I was given.

          • @Cyphar: Hahahaha, omg, what did they do to it?

        • So the amount of sauce is supposed to be the same each time at Macca's? Because sometimes when I get a big mac there is not enough sauce which is one of the most important parts. I was thinking they should use a machine to squirt it instead. Might sound ridiculous at first but if your paying teenagers minimum wage and they are getting hammered, you can't expect them not to cut corners.

          • +2

@baskinghobo: It’s dispensed from a ratcheting caulk-style gun that uses exactly the same amount of sauce every time. The only way you can get less than normal sauce is if the canister hasn’t been opened properly, blocking one of the holes in the end, or the burger before yours got one and a half shots by mistake.

When I worked at maccas I gave everyone extra sauce on everything - sorry if you hate sauce.

    • +1

Try this at your own risk, the person who made it did well comparing with the Double Big Mac.

It so flame grilled meat tasting that was overkill, i would stick with the Big Jack or Mega Jack if i had to choose the Jack range again.

      Double Mega Jack receipt

      Double Mega Jack

      • 6,682KJ that definitely a mega meal.

      • +2

        Looks like an incredible luncheon

        • I thought we were having steamed hams?

    • I thought the Mega Jack was the Big Jack renamed because of trademark reasons. What is the difference between a Mega Jack and a Big Jack?

      • +4

i believe the mega jack is whopper diameter, and big jacks are whopper junior diameter.

      • According to their press-release, Mega is 25% bigger, "a half-pound of Aussie beef".

  • +1

Can't wait for the thirder pounder burger!

  • +7

Uh huh. You call this Big Jack despite the fact they’re obviously Big Macs

        It's a regional thing

    • +3

Am I wrong that I found this quote embiggening? No of course not, it's the downvoters that are wrong

  • So two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun…

under 4 or 5 seconds and its free…

    • I always used to say "two old beef patties"

      Technically, maybe I was right.

      • +1

        LOL.

I wonder how many will even know or remember what it references

  • Those big jack's are the same as MacDonalds, they like tiny breakfast muffins but smaller, they so tiny that vegan whopper alone look massive.

    Not even worth it.

    • That's why the Mega Jack exists. It uses the same size buns and patties as the Whopper.

      • Ah the whooper is begger then that abomination

  • +2

I had one of these the other day. I would say overall it's better than a Big Mac.

The burger itself tastes better (lol). The meat patties themselves are just less processed and have that "flame-grilled" taste that makes maccas patties taste legit like cardboard.

The OG Big Mac pulls ahead in its sauce. That Big Mac sauce legit carries the burger and IMO would be the only reason you get a Big Mac. The HJ's version doesn't accurately recreate the Big Mac sauce, but it's quite close. I'd say about 80-85%.

Overall though the quality of the burger is just consistently higher that it's worth losing that OG Big Mac Sauce and opting for the Hungry Jack's version.

    • +1

I would have to go the other way on this one. Im gonna stick with the Big mac, even though i love the flame grilled taste, but i wasnt keen on the sauce, way too sweet for my liking.

      • +1

That's understandable. Big Mac Sauce is incredible. The only reason I go to maccas nowadays is for the mymaccas cheeseburger rewards, or to get nuggets w/ Big Mac Sauce.

If I was searching for a meal though, I was more satisfied with the Big Jack than the Big Mac.
To me, you can taste the depression in maccas burgers LOL.

    • +1

Im a bit over Maccas mac sauce, not sure if it changed, or I did.

  • The passion of burgers in this post is overwhelming me in a weirdly good way, "Im Loving it!".

  • COVID has not been good to my waist line

  • Sauce is a bit sweater and runnier than a Big Mac but I quite liked it.

  • Just had two of these … so good :P

  • +1

I can't justify ordering it with Macca's offers of $2 Big Mac and $9 2 X quarter pounder small meals kicking this one butt !

  • Maccers to rip of the Wopper with the Maccer?

  • +1

Don't bother getting it as it's not that that good.

    • Why not, i thought they are bigger than big mac

        • Hi mate, that looks worse than a big mac

          • +4

@Yaren24: Tasted horrible and was dry AF. Couldn't go back out either as I didn't get home with it until after 8PM on lockdown. Tried to complain over the phone. Was told because I ate it already, I was out of luck.

            • +1

@Cyphar: Thank you for your passion mate, saving me a trip

  • +1

Go to Hungry Jack's for Whoppers don't waste your time with this.

The big jack sauce isn't very good it's sweeter and not as creamy. If you want a big mac go to maccas.

    • +1

I liked Big Jacks, but have to agree, it's a bit too sweet for my liking. Wish it has more tangy kick to it like Big Mac. But the "grilled" patties are infinitely better though.

    • I'd suggest people to actually try it before disregarding it. I thought it was overall a lot better than a big mac. Different tastes will provide different outcomes.

  • I went to McDonald's today and bought a double Mhopper with cheese.

  • Quarter pounder pattie decimates the whooper pattie, yet the whooper bun shts on the quarter pounder bun.

Nothing can be said for the tiny (lol big) Mac, or the big (lol tiny as fk) jack.

Big Rubbish.. Support a local business, not to mention they are all going to be healthier than fast food.

  • They got the Big Mac, I got the Big Mick. We both got two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions, but their buns have sesame seeds. My buns have no seeds.

    • +2

They have the golden arches, we have the golden arcs!

      • Part 2 was supposed to come out in August, now pushed back to December. Yep, there's gonna be a part 2!

  • Barely has more protein than a regular whopper. It's just regular Jack. I eat two of the double grill master burgers for dinner (about 2400kcal 160g of protein) to bulk.

  • HJ lost me with the woke burger

  • -5

This is the price for two burgers, not meals. This is ridiculous. Where's the bargain?

I could advertise a literal turd on this website and solong as it's at least $4 cheaper than RRP you lot would climb naked through a mile of broken glass to upvote it.

    • Is there a link to a cheaper price for two Big Jack burgers? I reckon it's being upvoted because people like these specific burgers and this is the best price for them, which is the whole point of this website.

      • +1

No, it's not about the "best price", it's actually getting value for your money.

$10.90 for two sad, soggy, 60% lettuce burgers does not represent value for money, much like the rest of HJ's voucher deals aren't anymore.

I've had one and it's absolutely not $5.45 worth, let alone $7.15. Just because "it's cheaper than it normally is" doesn't automatically qualify it as a bargain, hence my original analogy.

  • I found them tasteless, should get covid checled

  • I like them better than Big Macs - not bigger but thicker and more meat for sure! I only wish there was more sauce on the one I had.
