Who needs a special knife for a tomato?!

    • +18

      Special tomatoes need special knives

    • +21

I think its useful for people to use when they take tomatoes to work and cut them up (ive seen some people do that). But perhaps when people actually go back into the office.

These will do a much better job at slicing tomatoes than a lot of people with blunt knives in their drawers at the moment.

        username checks out

      • The knife in my drawer is pretty sharp…..

    • +3

someone who likes tomato's … a lot .. like really likes them… not the whole version but cut in to bits… :)

    • +3

I think steak &tomato knife is refering the wavy/serrated edge that can be used to cut other things as well. By the way, I'm not a chef by profession, but I do use chef's knife/ 😄

      • I'm a tomato, can I still use it?

        • Of course, you can. But please call 13 11 14 first.

        • I'm a potato and I've been using it just fine.

          • @yobeets: Expect the tomato police to get you.
            Soon.

    • I can't confirm as I haven't received the 6-pack I ordered from eBay yet, but I'm pretty sure these can be used on more than just tomatoes.

      • +20

        no only.tomatoes

        if u cut.anything else this knife.will self.destuct

      • +4

6 pack isn't from ebay, from GYM:)

        • +6

          My 6 pack is from Dan's. 😉

          • +1

@O O: Dan will only give you one pack :P

      • They are also good for cutting things like kiwi fruit/oranges and other fruit with similar skin… can use for onions etc. A great variation on knives, somewhat like a bread knife which of course is great for differing bread crusts like sourdough etc. These people that say 'I or 2 knives only needed in a kitchen'… omg. A resounding NO.
Bit like saying you only need a 10 iron for 18 holes of golf IMO.

    • Special COVID times need special knives … and tomatos

  • +8

Bought these from previous deal can vouch for quality!

    • +2

They're super sharp and the teeth make it easy to cut through bread too!

    • +4

you must really love steak or tomatoes.

    • +2

      Cheers, bought a set.

    • +1

Was going to say the same. I bought a set of 6 in black a while back from an Aussie seller. Didn’t think was a deal but should have posted then.

    • +1

      Bought a set too. Thanks

    • +3

      And they're also black! #blackknivesmatter

    • Thanks mate bought a set. Also prefer that these handles are black!

  • +13

Also cuts fingers and crusty bread rolls.

    • +3

Makes using hand sanitiser that much better. Everytime I feel that sting, it reminds me of my sharp knives.

    • +3

      What about a leather shoe?

    • My mate mistook it for a blunt butter knife and did exactly this. Best all purpose knife going around.

  • +5

This brand of knife is really phenomenal. I received several as a gift a few years ago, still dangerously sharp.

    • +3

In our household those knives have earned the nickname, "the finger trimmer".

      • Yep I've trimmed some ends of my fingers a few times… Turned a bit bloody lol. Damn tomatoes… Lol

    • +2

      Shipping though.

    • It’s about $9 delivered on eBay

    That red suits Roberto perfectly!

    ha-haaa ha-haaaaaaaaa!

  • +2

    Ordered one to try!

Then will look for a multipack.

  • Got one last week when the deal was on. Great knife - particularly for bread etc. Better than our previous bread knife.

    • That's great news. I bought one for us to cut bread while camping

  • +1

Don't be fooled, using this knife to cut anything but steak or tomato will void your warranty! Wake up !

    • +8

Seems like that warranty isn’t gonna cut it.

  • Mine arrived today(from previous deal).Ordered another one. Thanks OP

  • Ordered one. Thanks OP

  • I got one of these on the last deal to try it out! Pretty good for $7. Very sharp!! Will probably buy another 😀

    • Yeah! $7 will be missing out of my bank account for 2 months without the product!

      • +5

        Don’t charge till they ship.

    • Yeah - I noticed that too.

Should be called a pre-order if it takes that long!

    • I got mine today. About 2 days delivery as is typical for Prime usually.

  • Anyone has both this and steak knife from Ikea?

I find Ikea’s one to be quite good already.

  • Does it come with any sort of cover/case?

    • +13

    • +2

I am another who cut my hand with this knife on first use. It looks a lot like this knife might be too sharp.

  • "Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months." FYI. Not for me, my bargain attention span isnt that long

Awesome steak knives and great for the kids to use (no pointed end).

We have a set of the black ones (10 of them) and use them for everything… they cut crusty bread rolls (and yes tomatoes) perfectly.

Love them… no need to be sharpened either.

    • agree, had mine for god i dont know 5? 10? years and use them every day…. still sharp to this day.

    • I find this knife a bit too sharp for kids to use

      • I should clarify that my youngest is 5, and I don't let them cut into bread or tomatoes where the opposite hand is holding the food. Only to cut their food on a plate… because yes they are quite sharp. They are nice and light though, so very easy for them to handle. I wouldn't let younger children near them however.

  • Amazon must wonder why there is sudden surge in demand of this knife, but I personally vouch for this knife, proudly keep together with few hundreds dollars jap knives.

  • Can anyone recommend a knife for cutting slices of a hard bread loaf (like sourdough)? Some comments say that this knife will work but is there any other specific knife better suited for breads?

  • +1

Am I the only one that uses this for cutting everything under the sun, even pumpkin?
    It just cuts through anything.
    But yeah, watch ya fingers!

  • I had a green one and a black one used for over 5 years.
    They have very good quality.
Ordered a red one. Thanks OP

  • +2

can confirm. sliced my finger just yesterday.

  • +2

How often do you sharpen these? Is it hand wash only? I read a lot of reviews and most are positive (sharp knives) but some are negative saying they rust easily or will rust after x weeks/months, even with rare use.

Would like to try but I’m still on the fence and am looking to buy a set (different knives) than just 1 knife but I had a look around and they’re expensive (this brand + knife block can go up to $400, not going to spend that much but have doubts about its durability and rust).

    • Mine go in the dishwasher no worries, and I've never needed to sharpen them in years. If you're not sure buy just one. But seriously, they are a terrific little knife.

    • Why do you need to read reviews for these? This brand is very well known. If you get a Victorinox knife rusty, you may be able to apply to the Guiness book of records. It's nearly impossible to get these rusty.

And these in particular are serrated knifes, you don't sharpen them ever. They last for a long time. And if you're not happy with it, just give it away - it's only ~$10.

    • serrated knives pretty much cant be sharpened. At this price point theres not much point in going through the effort, and it takes a long time for these to get dull anyway.

If you keep it in a pool of water, sure anything is going to rust. If you dry it properly I would dare say you'll have a hard time getting it to rust.

The Fibrox has good steel and is a very popular knife, but I dont personally like the profile or the craftsmanship but for a lot of commercial kitchens do use this one.

Personally not a fan of the plastic handles, but its not like you can expect hand-sculpted pakkawood or even micarta for this price..

My advice is if you're spending money on a chef/cooks knife (one that you ought to be using 95% of the time), spend a little extra, get one that really works for you (good feel, balance, profile, etc) and that will last you for at least a decade.

All knives will rust if you dont look after them, reactive steels will rust even faster if you dont, so my advice is….look after them.

      After all, all knives matter.

  • hey op is there anywhere you can ship sooner than 1/2 months?

    • I put my order through the day i posted, i got mine today.

      • Wow

        • Got my second one today (green pointed serrated paring knife)

  • The red one is now $14.99.

  • Any of these with a black handle.?
(Not the 6 pack from eBay as listed above)
