WD would be much better than the Kingston
People say this, but why exactly? :)
Kingston is more unreliable, people have had the Kingston ones fail and lose all the data. And I think Kingston is slower too
@jayboi: Ah ok thanks
@mememe123: The A400 uses the Phison S11 controller, which is prone to firmware corruption (which can result in complete data loss). The newer firmware versions helped patching some of the bugs but is still not as reliable as the WD.
Having said that the A400 (or other S11 based SSDs) is going to be the better performer when compared to the WD Green (which uses a variant of the controller used on the Sandisk Extreme USB flash drive instead of a proper SSD controller).
@systema: This is the most convincing argument yet, thanks. I've cancelled my A400 Amazon order anyhow. I'll wait for the Barracuda to be $45 again at Umart… and for the Broadway store to be open again for free pickup.
Dramless drive. Best to use for storage, not OS.
Or low-end laptops ???
I must have had bad luck, but the 2 WD greens I've installed were slow compared to Kingston or Sandisk.
bought 120g for $25 at centrecom
CHEAP AS NUTS
Spend an extra few $$$ and get something with DRAM.
This or the Kingston A4000 for an old Macbook Pro? https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B01N5IB20Q/
(I know neither have DRAM)
