    Average pricing.

No Deal, same price last year for a meh device.

  • I had the 8.0 2019 version and felt it was laggy on certain apps I needed it for. Anyone with experience to say if this will pretty much be just the same experience (with a bigger screen)?

    • Yea pretty much the same on this version also, sister got this one from $199 deal back on June and experience laggy on some apps due to RAM limitation of 2GB.

  • Only 2GB ram

  • +1

Bought in June’s deal with $200

  • +1

At this price point 32GB/3GB version would be more appealing.
This version will be discontinue and replace by https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_tab_a7_10_4_(2020)-10411.php

    • The Tab A7 is probably going to be more mid range than budget, which is what the Tab A 10.1 is. So not a replacement.

  • +2

Yeah I wouldn’t buy a tablet with 2GB ram. The Samsung Tab S2 came out in 2015 with 3GB ram.

    • can't compare Series 'S' with 'A'

      • +1

Yeah but you can compare a tablet from 5 years ago to today.

    • Hi LuckyDrew,

2GB of RAM is definitely usable on a tablet depending on your purpose, the 2GB RAM tablet I use is great for activities like watching videos and light browsing. Not sure that it warrants a neg, have you seen this product cheaper elsewhere right now for AU stock or link any other current AU stock recommendations for cheaper? Since the Tab S2 is discontinued. Thank you

      • Yeah and this is worse than a since discontinued product.
I dunno, “useable” is a pretty low bar to be aiming for in a brand new tablet.
Yes, your price for this over priced low spec tablet is slightly cheaper than other retailers.

      • LOL @ 2GB ram, useless.

    • Til this very day I still love my Tab S2. It still keeps up with all I need it to do, and is not laggy or buggy. Super happy with it.

      • Mine died recently and I was super sad. I have the Xiaomi Pad 4 now and it’s fine but lacks the polish the Tab S2 had.

    • Much better resolution on the S2 as well.

  • Any deals on Tab s6 or s6 lite?

  • +2

I had this for a few months but had to sell it, speed on the tablet is almost unusable with lots of lag.

I have S6 Lite and it's much better device.

  • The ebay plus deals are crap this month. A few months ago the Galaxy Tab A was only $199 on the ebay plus deal. -

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/545180

    • They were unicorns for most. Sold out in less than a minute.

      • 5 seconds, I don't know how those ebayer managed to finish check out within 3 seconds

when the deals are good, people complaint that there is not enough stock

when the deals are bad, people complaint that it is crap

so the question is, when do people not complaint?

      • +1

When it's a good deal & there's enough stock, obviously.

    • I got one from this deal. Been using it for about 2 weeks now and its trash.

I want to sell it but I think I'll just keep it around as a Google Home tablet and for guests.

I bought these for the kids. They love them and have not had any issues with them. A good price for an entry level tablet. At comparable pricing, there isn't much better unless you move into the Chinese-little-known-brands.

    • +2

      Chinese-little-known-brands.

The problem is the 'little-known-brands' easily out perform the tab a for half the price. The brands are also very well known, just not in Australia.

      • Each to their own. For someone looking to just buy a tablet and have some form of support from an on-shore seller selling AU specific stock, with an AU charger and a certain level of guarantee with the quality of the OS (OS updates, running a decent version of Android, this one is Android 10) then this is a good buy. If you want to buy from somewhere like BangGood or equivalent, you might get better specs but lose a lot of the simplicity. I also doubt your better spec for half the price. What can you get for $140 that's better?

        • The Alldocube iplay 20 was $160 AUD recently.

          • 4GB ram (double)
          • 64GB tab storage (double)
          • comes as wifi and cellular (tab a cellular is expensive)

          so not quite half price.

EDIT: also came with au charger, a cover, screen protector, and stylus. Also comes with Android 10.0.

          • @Frayin: Came with an AU adaptor for european charger.

  • Spent all last night looking at this and other "little know brand"
TobyDeals $270.75 free delivery THEN OfficeWorks price match - %10

I returned a "little know brand" back to ebay scammers. With wrong size and performance that does not exist.
I worked out that tablets are like SD Cards. Be careful.

    • Lucky you, I couldn't get OW to price match Toby. They just said, grey imports from HK. You did well.

  • samsung tab a is a joke, definitely pay twice more for an ipad. S Series are too expensive, especially for the latest release s7.

  • It is ok for kids, not for kids gamer, it only works on low reuqirement games. those big racing games lag. better than old ipad, every year, apple will "upgrade" some old ipad make them useless to push you buy a new model.

  • So, this Samsung 10" is slow people say…
What Android would anyone recommend in comparison?

  • +1

$216 for the cellular version at Optus. I believe you can cancel the contract immediately and pay out the device payment plans only (which totals $216). You may be able to do the order online

Even if you have to pay the first $15 monthly data plan, $231 is a lot cheaper for the cellular version. Of course, someone would need to verify… I heard people were buying the iPads using this method.

    • ahhh ok, thanks

    • Asked Optus, doesn't work like that. You have to sign in 24 months or 36 months in order to get the $216 price. If you cancel straight away you have to pay out with the RRP which is $498.96.

Despite having just 2GB of RAM, this is a pretty decent entry level tablet for media consumption. I use one for Netflix/prime and web browsing (but no gaming), performance is more than good enough for what I do. Furthermore, it also has a pretty decent battery life I get around 10hrs of screen on time and a week of standby time at lower brightness (I use it mostly in bed). the screen looks good too, more importantly doesn’t use PWM at lower brightness levels so very little eye strain using the screen at night.

The main reason I bought this tablet over other competitive offerings with more RAM and storage from either no-name brands or even some known brands like Lenovo is because full HD video streaming support. This is one of the few budget tablets that can do all streaming services like Netflix, Prime etc.. at full HD, most others are limited to 720p due to lack of certification/DRM (e.g: Lenovo M10 FHD) . So if Netflix/Prime FHD is a concern then this is probably the only sub $300 tablet worth getting.

While this tablet has limited amount of RAM, it has got so many other important things (battery life, screen tech and quality, build quality, USB C charging etc.) right.

But having said that $279 IMO is still too pricey, it has been cheaper before.

  • Optus has on sale the 4G + Wifi version of the Samsung 32gb TAB 10.1, (heavily discounted @ $282.96 off RRP $498.96) so final cost is $216
    https://www.optus.com.au/mobile/tablets/samsung/galaxy-tab-a…?
Only catch is you need to go on contract either 24 months or 36 months repayment for the tablet, so either $6 per month over 24 months repayment for device or $9 per month over 36 months repayment for device which works out at $216 for the Samsung TAB 10.1 device

AND also MUST go on there 4G small data plan (double data special 5gb + 5gb = 10gb) @ $15 per month on top of the tablet repayment, cost $360 for the plan over 24 months or $540 for the plan over 36 months,.. so best go with the smaller 24 month plan as it will cost less and also important your not on contract for the data plan but if you cancel early your required too pay outright the repayments left on the tablet and (I think) you could loose the $282.96 discount on the tablet best call Optus about that if your thinking of terminating early

This deal suited me perfectly as I was already on the Optus simcard $15 small data plan with no contract so basically I just resigned my Optus small data plan on a 24th month contract and the only cost too my usual overall plans is the cost of the tablet @ $9 per month over 24 months,..

When the tablet arrives I might actually end up trying too sell the new tablet on eBay to pocket the profit (as these sell on eBay over $300) too pay part (hopefully all) of my $15 per month Optus 4G small data plan over 24 months but if i sell my iPad mini or another Android tablet I have i might end up then keeping this Android Samsung 10.1 2019 model 4G/wifi tablet which ever is a better cost benefit too me, probably worth buying 2x of these tablets in the future to profit more out of them off eBay but ill test one first on eBay

This deal Ends 12/10/2020 so plenty of time too play around with
