  • If you're still using dailies, you're mad. I made the switch to fortnightly lenses about a year ago and in terms of comfort it's much improved (Acuvue Oasys).

    Other benefits include:
    - significantly (14x) less plastic waste
    - can travel much more lightly
    - co$t greatly reduced.

    • +1

Going to disagree about travelling more lightly… you have to carry around the saline solution.

      • Depends how long you're gone for I guess. For me, it can be 3-6 months at a time, so carrying a 100ml saline while moving is no biggie and only needs replacing once a month and they are ubiquitous.

    • My missus she's mad. Not because of this. Becsuse I spent money on online games. Just wanted to let you know she's mad.

    • I agree on what you said but also disagree cause I used to wear fortnightly lenses but given that I wfh now so I only wear contacts on the weekend and its just a waste (both economically and environmentally) to wear a fortnightly one for 2 days.

    • Several optometrists have told me I have to wear dailies as my eyes are so dry. Being an OzBargainer, I’d wear fortnightlies if I could!

      • My optometrist told me the same thing several times before I asked whether it's really impossible/dangerous. She said they would feel dry after wearing them for a few days, to which I asked "really"?

She then offered me a sample of the Specsavers home brand fortnightlies, which I wore for 2 weeks no problems. In fact I'd say they're more comfortable than the dailies even at the 2 week mark, as long as you rub them in saline each night (takes 30 seconds).
