  • Ah, #WorkFromHome Targeted?

  • Is this any good for running Citrix connection or WFH system?

    • +2

Citrix = glorified RDP, it will work fine for this purpose.

    Hello melboure-estore.

Just for clarity, the 3 year warranty is only on the SSD drive right?

The way it's worded it could be misconstrued that the system itself comes with a 3 year warranty.

    Please can you confirm.

    Thanks.

    • The eBay listing says 3 months RTB warranty so i'd say you're right and only the SSD is 3 years.

    • I think reading the ebay listing tells warranty,

NEW 120GB or 240GB SSD with 3Years Manufacturer Warranty

      System
      3 Months RTB Warranty

And you actually can put the graphics card in a x16 slot, and a 120 gb SDD is only 30 bucks these days as well.

    • Do you reckon it's worth building up from one of these OR starting from scratch?

I'm thinking about building a PC in the coming months for photo/video editing, running some games and work - but will be on a budget.

      • Depends on your budget, but I would suggest getting a Skylake (6 gen), they start to use DDR4 and some will have m2/nvme support. So any other parts that you buy for it can be used for later builds. (Not to mention the numerous SSD and ram deals that pops up here often)

        Skylakes starts about 250ish though.

      • I built up a SSF Dell 7010 that has been pretty good. I stalked around and bought it a little cheaper than this with similar specs, apart from a mechanical 500gb HDD. I stuck a brand new eBay 1030GT in it and it is great! I bought it to play Snake Pass which is like $2.50 at the moment. We have played a bunch of Just Cause 2 and I am playing Portal 2 next. Not bad for about $300 $270.

Just checked and mine was only $139 but is a 3rd Gen i5, so take "similar specs" with a grain salt…

        Also the 1030GT was $129…

      • Start from scratch, these computers are only good for checking email and basic work stuff like that. If you're gonna be playing any relatively intensive games you're gonna have to upgrade ltierally every component.

        • Not true, you could install a decent card like 1050ti or 1650 which can handle modern games fine.
You'd likely want to upgrade to 16GB RAM but CPU is fine for that GPU pairing. You are limited in future upgrades though

tempted to buy one even though I have no use for it!

      • I am just waiting for a tower to pop up… Actually I dont need another PC, but is just bored in lockdown.

They actually had a Precision with Sandy Bridge yesterday

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DELL-PRECISION-T3600-Intel-Xeon-…

But just can't figure out any actual use for it.

      • Way ahead of you mate, i got one but didn't need it… true OzBargainer here :D

    • That's an insanely good price for that spec system.

      • It's a fair price.
Small hdd and its a hdd.

    • What graphics card would you recommend? I assume it needs to be low profile.
The 1650 seems to be the replacement for the 1050ti, yes?

      • +1

1650 would be the best graphics card you could install

    Does this PUBG?

    • Yeah, no.

If you whack a 1660 or 1650ti it should handle it, will be smooth, obviously won't be 200fps smooth but it will play. I had a i7 3770 with this as a combo and it performed well.

      • when you put in that card
the entire pc is close to $500
which you can build yourself or buy which is much newer and faster pc.

  • Can the DVD drive swapped to put in additional HDD to make this as a nvr would need more storage.

    • Yes you can, the drive will need to be a 2.5" drive though

  • Third time I've seen these posted here in less than a month!

I bought one for a client with 16/256Gb. Pretty good for a mum and dad computer.

  • How many HDD could I put in this? I'm thinking of making a FreeNAS box

    • I haven't had a Dell SFF but my Lenovo and HP only have SATA power for one drive and a disc drive so you'd likely have to break out the splitters.

      • Yes, it's a small case. Not suitable for that. What about the HP Microserver? Are they still sold?

    • I think HP Elitedesk 800 G1 SFF can fit up to 2x 3.5 and 1x 2.5, but needs their priority mounting thingys. They are around in the same price range as this.

  • what's the best ram size and clock speed config that is compatible with the mobo?

  • Are these all overpriced??
