    Japanese watches, insane silly RRP, heavily discounted

    Rolex watches, reasonable RRP, pay well above that or you are wait-listed for ever

      Seiko also produces Grand Seiko watches which range in price from about $5000-$12000. With a Rolex you can make 30% profit the moment you walk out of an authorised dealer's shop. Wheres with Seiko/Grand Seiko you lose 50-75% after you walk out.

      I wonder if the movement is still Japanese made or if they have shifted to Chinese made movement and Japanese assembly.

        I have 3 Seiko kinetic watches. One is a kinetic perpetual. The movement is made in Japan and assembled in China.
        This watch stops the hands in the power saving mode and when it detects movements the hands will automatically move to the correct time. You cant hand-wind it.

        With Rolex you make 30% profit? Is that even a fact? Why would people pay an extra 30% for a used watch rather than buying a new one at a cheaper price. I don't understand!!

          30% if you are unlucky, often you can double your money i.e. 100%.

          Supply and demand. Some watches have 5-10 year waiting lists and even then it is at the discretion of the store if you are even allocated one often attributed to you job/income/social status etc. Not everyone wants to wait 10 years and play the lottery to get a specific watch.

          Next time you see an authorised Rolex dealer, walk in and ask what sports models they have in stock.

        That's the main reason I love them, the looks. Along with the quality and finish. I currently have a SRX001 which is a kinetic moon phase. Hopefully down the track I'll add a few more Premiers to the collection.

    Is it just me or is every Rolex on the market butt ugly? Maybe I just haven't seen the right ones but if I'm spending thousands of dollars on a Rolex, it would have to at least not look like something that looks at home on a grandpa's wrist
