WN you haven't aged a bit!

    the G-SHOCK GSTS110-1A (https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B015ZXDJN6) and GSTS100G-1B (https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01LYH2JEX) looks good deals too

    Where's the negative display disclaimer?

    • +2

Casio GBD models have a MIP display which stands out like dogs balls.

I think it would look good on you.

      • +1

        GBD = G Balls Dog

      • +1

I understand that but it's not a watchnerd Gshock post without the disclaimer. I feel ripped off.

      • Agree, MIPS is the only negative display I would buy.

@MS Paint Disclaimer: the watch case and band is resin!

    • MIPS is the only negative you should buy

Is this ever going to go sub 150 sigh

    • +1

I think 8% CR on watches now brings it below $150.

      160-16=144
      144x0.08=11.52
      160-11.52=148.48.

  • All time low on these Mudmasters too:

  • For some reason, Amazon won't deliver the DW9052-1V to PO Boxes. They will for the others though.

  • -2

I honestly wouldn't pay more than $30 for a DW9052, it's just so lacking in functionality compared to any other G-shock that it's not worth it. I can't remember if I ever got around to replacing the battery when it died, because I didn't like to wear it most of the time.

Those of you who do buy or have a GBD200 or GBD100 and have an Android phone, you can try Gadgetbridge instead of the official app. It's open source and pretty functional.

    • Yes it's too expensive and wears very big. Get a more iconic one like a square or DW-6900 etc. I got a blue gbd200 and best to turn all that stuff off and run in airplane mode, will save battery too.

It's all relative though as most things have undergone inflation and watch reviewed ramping up the prices, increasing demand.

      • Huh it's 43mm wide which is small for a G-Shock.

        • -1

Huh your pic shows The Rock wearing it.

I meant it may not wear the best on smaller wrists (long ways it lug to lug)v but haven't tried it on personally.

You got any other G-Shocks to compare it to?

@treefidi $60 is honestly not bad, a lot of the classics have doubled in price. The A158/A168 aren't worth more than $35 or $40 either.

Smart watches aren't casios forte and the 2move app sucks so wouldn't be buying the GBD200 for that.

          not too expensive
I don't consider $60 too expensive but old mate above does. Maybe they were $30 in 1995.

I paid $120 for a DW6900U-1, re-release but the older ones were even more. Those have easily doubled in price.

          • @G-rig: If you're replying to me, I was commenting on your "wears very big" comment despite not having worn it, haha.

I own the watch and it doesn't wear too big (7.25" wrist).

            • @pennypacker: Not replying to anyone in particular, doesn't worry me

Yeah I'll try one on but seen plenty of reviews. Got enough similar ones, prefer the DW6900 with 5600 strap.

    • +1

Seems a bit harsh, it's a 200M watch that will last 10 years or more on the 1 battery depending how often you the backlight.

Yes it doesn't have a lot of functions but for some it has plenty in this day & age when your phone is never far away.

  • -4

I don't know where to begin. The watches are very retro, and I had to wear my sunglasses to look at some of the brighter ones.

    • It is an attractive style to some, it's rugged. In my teens, the rugged casios were awesome. I wouldn't wear one today, I go for minimalist military or low profile watches. Bertucci make indestructible watches for a good price. Style is subjective.

Tempted to get the blue one….
Add it to my G Shock collection which is currently at 5.

      Do it bro

Agree I got the blue one and it looks great. #YOLO

        • If the ‘yellow’ was proper yellow I’d get one

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Yeah like canary yellow. I sold that yellow GA2100, didn't end up wearing it really.

Seemed to have gathered a few G-Shocks now.. about 5 or 6.

            • @G-rig: Nice collection. Which ones do you have? I keep wanting more G-Shocks. Really want to get the MTGB2000D-1A, just waiting for the price to be right.

              • @Jono05: Haven't got too many too quickly really and sold one or two before getting others.

Holy crap, $270 for an ugly as hell Casio watch made of plastic. My refurbished Apple Watch 7 was less than that.

    • +5

Having to charging a watch every day would be annoying..

They aren't even similar enough to compare and no one cares about your used shitty apple watch.
You also don't need to spend that much on a Casio (it has a few different sensors).

Funny how no one has a hissy when people spend a fortune on apple watches or GFX cards lol.

Having to charging a watch every day would be annoying..

Doesn't matter what kind of watch I wear, I will always be taking it off when I go to bed, and putting it on my bedside table (where the charger is). Because wearing a watch to bed would be annoying…

        • No sleep and health tracking for you then (which is one of the main benefit of those smart watches.

I would have thought an iPhone watch is minimal enough that you wouldn't notice it (my Fitbit is).

  • -1

Can anyone recommend a good kids watch? (aged 8-10). Step counter a bonus, but not essential.

    • +1

my 5 year old has one of these GLXS5600-7B - its classed as a 'womens' watch - but obviously is unisex.

    • +1

      Maybe a Fitbit or something.

An analogue would be good if they want to tell the time.
Eg swatch (lifetime free battery replacement).

If they are locked into the ecosystem get an apple watch 6 or 7 etc.

How are these so expensive? They're made with resin like every other cheap digital watch, and for the most part they've got the same type of display. I'm sure there's a billion similar watches that mimic the same look, made with the same materials, with the same display, that do the same functions (not that 99% of people use any of the functions anyway).

Am I crazy, or were casios dirt cheap a couple decades ago?

    • +1

Yes this post got over 60 upvotes because it's expensive lol.

    • +1

I have a rangeman from 15 years ago, still works just fine as it's solar, but the resin frame where the pins attach is long gone, all cracked and brittle. I've glued it back together and its still good but not my style these days.

Nothing compares to watches like the bertucci's with a 1 piece frame with fixed lugs, very minimalistic but it's also boringly indestructible. Each has its perks.

      • I’ve had a GW9400 for 15 years too!
Replaced band+bezel once. Looks brand new :)
