Lenovo Warranty Extension 15% Discount using Promo Code

I had purchased a Lenovo Legion laptop 1.5 yrs ago at a good price to replace my 10 year old HP laptop. The laptop only come with a 1 year depot warranty originally which was okay at the time. 3 months in, one of the buttons on the touchpad kind of collapsed. It worked fine but was misaligned as if broken or something underneath. Got Lenovo support involved, since it was only a depot warranty but my laptop was only 3 months old, I kicked up a stink so they offered to send a person on-site instead. Turns out the touchpad couldn't be replaced individually so they replaced the full front panel (touchpad, keyboard, everything) and it was all done for free and on-site. I am sure if I were to do this out of pocket it would have been fairly expensive.

Therefore since then I decided to extend my warranty until I have the option to do so and also converted from depot to on-site. This roughly pushes me back ~ $115 a year but the computer is basically my bread and butter, especially now more than ever during COVID-19. I pay $9.99 a month for NRMA roadside so this isn't any different.

Today I was just curious so went to check how long I had left on my warranty and came across the 15% discount promo code so decided to extend further a little early. Saved me a few bucks compared to last year - so thought I share this promo code here. I am all set till 2022.

There was no link - just a banner so I took a screen grab and uploaded with this ad.

manufacturers that quote "its outside your warranty period blah blah" for hardware defects, just refer them to ACCC law.. should get at least 2 years warranty total (1 year manufacturer + 1 year ACCC)

    • didn't know that.. having said that my two years will be over for me anyway and I got on-site so I guess that counts for something.

TBH sometimes its easier to just have the MFN warranty, the amount of trouble i have gone through to get some things actioned under the ACCC type warranty sometimes isnt worth the time, quicker if for a few hundred you can cover it for the higher end of town devices

      IMHO anyway,

Sometimes the ACCC claims could take hours/days worth of back and forth (unless the MFN is pretty ok with it and they do their normal 'good faith bla bla') so depends if the time is worth it, but you should 'expect' a device to last longer than 12 months,

TBH JBHIFI prob has the best 'what to expect' when it comes to the consumer guarantee as it does scale with the price of the unit,

I find that Apple is probably the best when it comes to ACCC repairs. iPad had one dead pixel, walked in and they just immediately replaced it no questions asked - my device had no apple care, and 1 yr Apple warranty had ended. Invoice says "warranty: consumer Law". But yes, It does depend on the item, circumstance and manufacturer. Fortunately haven't had to pull out the ACCC card because most items have been working fine or the manufacturer cooperates with a defect claim.

        • This. I have my macbook pro with screen issue. Out of warranty, bought for more than 2 years. No apple care, etc. Went to apple store, they checked it and said it’s a known issue. They replaced the screen even it’s out of warranty. No out of pocket for me.

Sure, and 6 ,months later you still don't have the item fixed as they don't agree… 10 months later you finally have it repaired, been there done that, looking at you Sony.

Guy said his was mission critical.
