    • Up to you. Do you want a much better GPU and better CPU, plus a few more modern connections etc, or an older model with a 4K OLED screen? Screen or grunt.
Worth pointing out, the XPS does not support HDR gaming.

      • Pretty much do you want a machine you can take to a business meeting (XPS 15) or a machine that can just stay at home with (Dell G7)
Just depends what you are using it for.

  • whatever you are buying now factor in deflation like the petrol prices. Don't be fooled by the retailers rrp discount.

  • I got an older XPS 15 with i7 and the thermal throttling is awful (underclocks to 800MHz after playing a 3 year old game for an hour). Not sure if the issues persist in the newer models, but I wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole at this point. Just looking forward to be able to afford a proper PC.

    • yeah my XPS 17 cant even stream netflix without audio losing sync after minutes,
poor support from dell in terms of drivers.

  • +2

If only there is a laptop with similar build and screen but with AMD and dedicated Radeon..

  • If this deal wasn't expiring today, what I would have done is bought it from Dell for $2889, got 12% shopback cashback on it ($346.68), then used 28 degrees price protection to price match $1978.98. You'd also get a $289 Dell voucher towards your next purchase.

In the end, you would pay $1632.32 for the laptop and get a $289 Dell voucher which you don't get on ebay.

I don't know if this price will ever be seen again though, so that would be risky.

  • Personally, HP has been quite good, love Dell as it is sturdy.
    I have an "old" (Feb 2019) HP Spectre x360 - 15-df0002tx - the specs are at https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06177232
Upgraded from Win Home to Win Pro, and all set up!

    • i wanted the new spectre x360, but its availability is low, and the oled model sells for 4.8k,

  • Got shipping notification this morning, this was for the 32gb Ram / 1tb variant.. Don't suspect ill actually receive it before the stated 11th of September however

    • Umm well it just showed up on my door! almost a month earlier than they said lol

  • I received mine today and really regret buying it.

The HDR mode only works for streaming. It is not supported in apps and games even though the screen meets the spec. So if you try to play a 4K bluray, HDR is not supported and it will look washed out.

I want to return it. The whole reason I wanted it was to play 4K HDR video, and not streamed. I can't even do that. I will wait for a deal on Spectre x360 15 (2020).
