Possibly the biggest problem with this XPS is that the newer model is so much better.

Possibly the biggest problem with the new xps is the price and lack of supply of the good i7 10875h models in australia. Especially the XPS 17 like holy shit only a 6core and 1650ti for 5 grand. i find it hard to believe they have sold many of them

I was looking everywhere to try and get something around the same specs.
Managed to get JB Hi-Fi to price match on an Asus Zephyrus G14 Ryzen 7 4800HS 16gb ddr4-3200 512gb nvme ssd with GTX 1650ti with 120hz panel for $2179. Much happier

      • what's so good about xps

        • Battery life mainly. 4K OLED screen if you care to spend some cash.

      • It was only about 6 weeks back that the new xps 17 (with 1650ti) was under $3k when you stacked AUAFFILIATES15%OFF,
        HONEY7 and EPP5 all together.

    • And very low on stock everywhere, and suitably overpriced

    • Which new model - the 17?

    • What's so much better about them? CPU is the same, display looks the same, slight GPU bump?

The irony of your description is that the title barely says anything! 😉

"Title says it all really.." Dell XPS 15 7590 $2,421.54

  • Title says it all really..

Title has no specs nor store

  • AUAFFILIATES15%OFF stacks?

    • nope..

all good we're just having a laugh

  • why laptops with dedicated graphic card are so expensive this year? I got a Legion last year (August) with RTX 2060 $20xx(after cb, was 13%). The same cpu, same ssd ( though I bought an extra 1tb ssd for expansion) and almost same screen but much better graphic card. Lenovo did a much better job especially cooling performance than Dell G series.

Hands down they even make a $1000 laptop with 4800u and 1440p srgb 100% screen in China (optional: i7 processor with mx350 graphic card only a hundred bucks more).

That is terrible value. You can get much better specs for under $2000

    • For XPS or Surface Laptop?

For this, as one example: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/554619

          You're comparing apples with oranges.

XPS is not a gaming laptop. That G7 weights 3.3KG. The XPS is 1.8KG.

As some that travels (well, travelled thanks to COVID) a lot for work, carting a 3.3KG 17" laptop around airports etc is as much fun as slamming your junk in a car door.

@willsy01: If the XPS has a 1650, then it is a gaming laptop. If you're just using it for work and need to shave off every gram, then save yourself $1000 and buy one without a dedicated GPU.

            • @Nukkels: Not really. A roughly equivalent Dell Inspiron 15 is still around $2000 or about $1600 is you look at previous generation (9th Gen Intel)

And that's with pretty decent discounts.

            • +1

@Nukkels: Dedicated video cards aren't solely for gaming. Dell do not market the XPS15 as a gaming laptop………..therefore, it is not a gaming laptop.

  • not sure about 15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) seems low for a 15"

    • +1

I would prefer FHD over UHD for battery life.

      • for real?

      • I would prefer UHD for watching and editing Go Pro videos

    • seems low for 15"

Yes for 27 inch, but 15 inch?!

      • for a $2400 laptop….
