Not all clicks are buyers. I've clicked though multiple times wondering if I should buy

        • True, as have I.

        • I clicked about 8 times. That was about enough to convince myself to buy.

    • it's Dell.. of course they have thousands of these things in warehouses because their main customers are corporates who buy multiple hundreds, to thousands of PCs and monitors at a time. The medium business I work for recently bought 300 x PCs, 600 x monitors, 100 laptops, 300 x UPS and 300 printers as well.

      • True, but they may not be anticipating this many orders for a monitor most suited towards gaming.

      • Hope you’re right! This monitor ticks all my boxes

  • Why did I just buy this monitor?
I guess I'll be selling my stupid viewsonic now

    • Haha same here. Bought the viewsonic last month and hoping to sell it as I now have this dell on the way. Viewsonic one is ok, hoping this is much better

    • +1

Dont sell it til Monday is over. Sydneys ETA is 6th of August. Queensland and Melb/SA have their ETA on 11th.

Price 3 days ago was 1.2k now $629 and stacking discount codes. I bought 1 too because im curious if itll actually go thru because i also wanted an LG850 while i have a viewsonic IPS 144hz. This price is too good to be true but I hope to god it goes through.

      • Yeah, wasn't planning to sell until it arrived

      • If this is a price error it would have been fixed already

  • Thanks OP! Just ordered one, estimated arrival 6/08/2020.

  • +5

I just impulse bought a monitor, what has OzBargain done to me

    • Good things! No regrets!

  • +4

Wow 453 upvotes…I wonder how many bought? I tried an $85 coupon I received after I purchased a G3 from Dell a couple of months ago and it stacked!!! So I paid $422.93 all up!! I couldn't resist and bought! Thanks OP :)

  • Thanks, OP
    I bought one.
One reason I pulled the trigger is that they included this:

"Bundled Services: 3-Years Advanced Exchange Service and Premium Panel Guarantee" - this is a $49 option as listed.

    • Where did you get it as a $49 option. Its always been included in the price AFAIK

      • +1

it is listed after the visible warranty options. You need to click to expand it. On the main page, it states it only has basic warranty.

revision- my mistake. It comes with 3-year replacement warranty. I mistook the 3-year Pro service as included in the price.

  • I currently have this

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Astivita-Monitor-31-5-Resolution-F…

Please convince me not to buy the Dell 😂

    • This can go up to 165hz if you game it'll be good but if you just do basic work from home you're literally throwing your money just because FOMO. This has good ergo but if you're willing to shell out $500 now instead of more later on you save money in the long run.

      • You're the best.

I'm happy with 75hz for now, I'm really wanting curved next!!

        Fomo definitely getting me

        • +1

Personally I love 144Hz+ for general usage. Mouse movement is smooth, document scrolling is much smoother and it just feels easier on the eyes. Going back to 60Hz after using a 144Hz feels really bad. Also I'd recommend a flat panel over curved as it's better for text (curved is really a gimmick for non-ultra wide displays).

    • If you want a reason not to buy the Dell because you already have that monitor, it would be this:

You have a 31 inch monitor, this is 27 inch.

  • Bought first, hoping it fits my monitor has lift arms second

    specs here:
    https://www.dell.com/hr/p/dell-s2721dgf-monitor/pd?ref=PD_Fa…

4.5kg vesa mount, should fit yay!

  • Does this monitor really have Pivot (rotation)? Can't seem to find it on the item description on the webpage

    • +1

see link i just posted but it says yes

      Adjustability
      Height adjustable stand (130 mm)
      Tilt (-5° to 21°)
      Swivel (-45° to 45°)
      Pivot (-90° to 90°)
      Built in cable-management
      Security Lock Slot

      Color Support
      Color Gamut (typical):
      98% DCI-P3
      Color Depth:
      1.07 billion colors

      Flat Panel Mount Interface
      VESA (100 mm)

  • Damn you OzBargain! Made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

  • Finally pulled the trigger after 6 hrs. I think thats enough Ozbargain for the week lol

    • +2

Tomorrow is a new week :)

  • These 2 coupon codes can be applied to other Dell monitors. Just bought a U2721DE (27" IPS USB-C 65W PD with USB hub, RJ45, etc.) with the coupons for $645 delivered.

  • How does this compare to the lg 27gl850

    • No one knows yet, it only launched a few days ago. There are unconfirmed claims online that it uses the same panel, but who knows what post processing they do.

I've always been a fan of Dell monitors so decided to roll the dice. Hopefully it's a good monitor and hardware unboxed do a review

      • The Dell monitor's button / joystick setup is like the Asus XG279Q (which has AUO). Generally, I don't like buttons at the back. I guess at least with the joystick, while not ideal, it is slightly easier to navigate than just buttons. In a dual monitor setup, if one of these is placed on the left, it could be a bit annoying).

LG copying that panel design - as much as I hope that's the case, seems unlikely. Hope I am wrong and it's just Dell really likes that design.

It's really annoying there are two sets of detailed specs being mentioned online.

    • +3

Specs wise, the Dell is better. Even if it ended up being the same panel, it probably has a newer firmware as it has:

      • AMD FreeSync Premium Pro (basically Freesync with HDR support).
      • The 165Hz (even if it is most likely overclock) on DisplayPort is not locked.
      • HDR-400 certified (though it only just manages to pass).

LG could release a firmware to add some or all of those, but knowing LG, it won't do that.

For the Dell monitor, the best case scenario is that this has the next iteration of the LG panel (with slight specs improvement) rather than just a firmware hack. It could be an AUO panel. Nothing is confirmed at the moment. The buttons placement for the Dell is similar to a monitor that uses an AUO panel though.

However, honestly, those are all gimmicky features as based on the monitor specs, it is not a proper HDR anyway. The 400 cd/m2 could be just max brightness (as that's a requirement to pass HDR400 so this Dell barely passes it). Anyway, it is still far from ideal for HDR.

  • RRP is USD 399 So converted to Aus its about right
    Not a price mistake

    https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/dell-to-out-new-s2721dgf-m…

    • +1

I don't see any US retailers selling it for $399 USD online. But this article does say it'll be available worldwide on July 28 for US$569.99.

Usd 569 on Dell US. On sale for usd $429

    • +1

Good point, we're all taking a chance thinking we're getting a bargain but fact is it's a new model and the deal is still up. Maybe they cut cost of production and could be normal price…

    • US Dell price is $429.99 reduced from $569.99
      https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-27-gaming-monitor-s2721…

      • Cool. I guess it means our price of A$629 isn't too far off then. But the $429.99 is US Dell sale price. A$629 on the AU site doesn't look like its a discounted price. And the plot thickens…

        • The site does mention it's offering 30% off monitors, I wonder if it's already discounted, googles saying its a price drop from $929 which is about 30%. I hope its a 1k monitor, spec are similar to ASUS ROG Strix XG279Q that goes for about $900

          • @MaccDogg: 30% off is on selected monitors only. And the S2721DGF isn’t part of that sale

  • that's a cop

  • When you Google the model S2721DGF, Google ads say its a price drop from $929. Think this is true? Its a week old

    • +1

When I was on Google, it told me price drop from $1,029 lol

      • Haha cookie monster.
I see the stats compare to the ASUS ROG Strix XG279Q and it seems to sell for about $900

  • Hoping this works. Have Dell honored pricing error before?

    • Yes they are the best in honouring price errors. (Ref: $9 printer deal, posted by yours truly)

  • +1

Similar deal over in the UK for the same monitor - https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/dell-27-gaming-monitor-s272…

Think £389 converts to around AUD$712. So I don't think the price is necessarily an error (unless it's a global error lol)

    • +3

Given the rate of vat (20%) is higher over there.. Take another 10% off and it's almost bang on the aud price

  • damm, great deal. thanks OP

  • I've got the Acer Nitro 2k 27" 144Hz….would getting this to replace it be of any value other than saving some money and Dell's superior warranty ?

  • ECU5 isnt working anymore? Or am I doing something wrong?

    • +1

I was about to buy it but then the code expired. :(

      • +2

that will teach me for thinking about it

        • Should I buy it at $534.66 or wait again?

          • +1

@amoretpax199: i pulled the trigger at $534, because it's still a massive deal.

            • +3

@Frayin: 534 still a good price (mainly because that's what I paid 30 hours ago!)

            • @Frayin: I procrastinated yesterday and again today but I'm buying it now just in case the whole deal is gone for good…

        • and you are not alone in this lesson lol

          • @Gelato: Lucky that I didn't wait again! The monitor is now $1229…

  • Made 3 separate purchases in order to stack the ECU5 code. The first 2 orders were confirmed within 10 mins, but the third order is still processing. Anyone else have that issue?

    • ECU5 is expired now :(

      • The ECU5 code is meant to be for
Edith Cowan University students only. The code has either hit the maximum number of use, or Dell has caught on and disabled it.

  • And now we play the waiting game…

Hopefully, we would know more details in the coming days…

The worst case is that it is basically VX2758-2KP-MHD + VESA stand + USB 3 hub - speakers. VX2758-2KP-MHD is $469. Some parts of the specs seem to indicate it could be the same panel as 27GL850.

It's OZB. The voting isn't always consistent.

  • ETA is 6th August for me - Melbourne.

    • Melbourne… Stage 4 restriction kicks in already right? Even assuming couriers and delivery companies still deliver, most of their staff probably won't be working after 8PM, so that will further delay things.

      • No if the company is deemed to work (couriers will be) they won't have a curfew. 8pm to 5am travel is allowed for work purposes

  • +1

I couldn't find if anyone answered this already but, is it worth using a freesync monitor like this with a high end nvidia gpu? Or is it really only worth with g-sync monitors?
    Cheers

    • +1

This monitor has both FreeSync and G-Sync compatibility so you're set for both :)

    • +1

It's G-Sync compatible (well, nVidia now adopts freesync so any freesync monitor is "compatible"). However, if you want HDR with adaptive sync on nVidia, you want G-Sync Ultimate. However, this monitor, specs wise, isn't really proper HDR.

      • So is 'G-Sync Ultimate' effectively what I would find in gsync specific monitors? I thought I read there being a difference between g-sync compatible and it actually having a g-sync module or something?
I guess I would be wanting HDR

        • If you want adaptive sync with HDR on a high end nVidia card, then for now you want G-Sync Ultimate. nVidia could later introduce G-Sync Ultimate compatible or G-Sync HDR compatible. So, nVidia can introduce a driver update to support it, but it is unlikely to happen any time soon.

Problem is, for G-Sync Ultimate, the monitor needs to reach 1000 nits. That would obviously qualify for real HDR. However, those monitors either won't be cheap or could be VA based monitors. Depends on what you feel about VA monitors. IPS would at least require local dimming and a much more powerful backlight than this (no, nano IPS alone isn't going to magically fix a technology limitation).

We've seen people with nVidia cards getting this monitor. How important is HDR when you play a game which needs high framerate? For games which you really want to enjoy HDR, do you really need perfect framerate sync? Also, importantly, if HDR is a big deal to you, this is NOT the monitor to get. HDR400 is only sufficient to trick your brain if you have subpar SDR monitors currently. If you have decent monitors already, HDR400 won't wow you at all. If you already have an OLED panel based phone with HDR, I really doubt this monitor's HDR will wow you.

  • Cheers doweyy, grabbed this deal yesterday, thanks for posting this.

  • I don't think it's a pricing error. This is literally 20% off the RRP $629 for $507.

I treat this as a similar great deal to the Dell G7 laptop with 10750H and RTX 2070 Max-P $2,500 with a further 20% off.

The only way both deals will disappoint us is if:
    1. The RTX 2070 is actually Max-Q instead of Max-P. But Dell confirmed it in the Ebay page as Max-P.
    2. The monitor doesn't perform anywhere close to the LG panel.

I just realised I bought both with a credit card that gives 1 year extended warranty. That's an additional saving of around $150?

    • +2

The pricing error some are suggesting is the initial RRP of $629. It’s listed as $1.2k on the NZ Dell site. I guess we’ll find out today.

    • +1

What makes you say it doesnt perform as well as the LG panel? I read on whirlpool it has been confirmed on delivered units in Germany that it is the same panel.

      • do you have a link to that?

        • I'm really struggling to find it again, but if i do i'll edit this comment.

      • +1

I am just being cautious and I hope it performs just as well if not better than the LG monitor.👍

  • I just got an email from dell requesting: "please reply from your business OR student email to complete verification process". Anybody else got the same thing? I have not applied the ECU5 code.

    • I ordered on 02/08/20 and applied ECU5 but I didn't get that email request. The order was confirmed within 7 minutes of purchase and due for delivery on 06/08/20.

      • Strange. I got the email on Saturday. My order status still says pending financial verification?

        • I made 3 orders last night. The first 2 is listed as confirmed - in production but the last order I did is listed as processing - pending finance clearance. I did call dell this morning to check if there are any issues and the agent advised that nothing seems to be wrong and it should be confirmed as well within today.

Just strange that I made 3 consecutive orders but 1 of them didn't seem to get the confirmation status.

    • Strange that you’d get that if you didn’t apply the code.

I applied it but never got a delivery confirmation. So it weirdly different for everyone.

  • Hmm, so if ecu5 was for Edith Cowan University students, what was the other coupon for? What sort of affiliates were they meant to be?

    • Not sure if it's only for education, but it's the code that they give you when you go through unidays to get the dell student discount

  • Code AUAFFILIATES15%OFF is still active this morning. I just pulled the trigger.

  • +3

Some early reviews going on in this thread https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/new-dell-ips-s2721…

    • Sounds like it is indeed the LG panel.

  • Called just now to cancel my first order without the 5% discount, they are happy to refund and no restocking fee.
Also, checked with my second order, they still advise the ETA is 6 Aug and I am based in SYD. So far it looks a genuine deal.

  • When using coupon ECU5 - it says this coupon has already been redeemed.. LOL. but AUAFFILIATES15%OFF still working

  • +1

I don't get it why people still getting it even if AUAFFILIATES15%OFF works? It comes to $1,044.65 with code, nowhere near $507.93

    • It was $629 over the weekend. Not $1229. You missed out.

Edit: Try again. It went back down to $629.

      • +1

Yeah but when you add to cart it shows $1229
