*** expired, now back to normal price ****

Was made aware of a popular item that some of you may find interesting. It's listed in the Flash Deals so be quick if you are keen on it as the price will rise as more units are sold.It would be an interesting talking point at parties.

Features:

  • Can Opener is a bar tool designed to remove the top of almost any can, which enhances your drinking experience and allows you to do things with the can that you never thought you could.

  • Not to mention the innovative design safely removes the top leaving no sharp edges. It can be used on most 8-19 oz beverage cans, works well on domestic, imported, and spiked seltzers, canned cocktails, energy drinks, iced coffee, soda/seltzer, and much more.

  • A Smooth Pour: Removing the top allows for an uninterrupted pour. Leaving you less full and ready to grab another. Ditch the glass and drink straight from the can.

  • Enjoy The Full Taste: By removing the entire top, it allows your nose to enjoy the aroma of your beverage. Enhancing the flavor and allowing you to enjoy it as if it were glass. Garnish Your Drinks: Spicing up your favorite canned drinks is even easier. Whether you like cocktails or just a little citrus in your drinks, we've got you uncovered.

Usage:

  1. Grab the top edge of the can Or the bottom edge of the can. (Don't grab the center of the can!)

  2. Open handle and place the tool on the top of the can.

  3. Squeeze handle and rotate.

  4. Align rim with handle notches and slowly rock to open the top.

Is that safe? Will my lips end up in the can?

Edit: Found something similar on eBay for $3.95

    • Seller has bumped it up to $16+ now, guess I'll stick to a glass…

  • +4

    But why?

If I want to drink from a can without a top, I'd sooner pour it into a glass!

    • Me too however some people like trying something different. It wont appeal to all but there would be people around who would enjoy the change.

    • I’ve bought beer that has a pull tab and the whole top comes off.
Weird to do and kinda strange to drink out of.

      • Yeah, Bent Spoke used to have their cans that way here.

Fun fact: that type of removable pull top is essentially banned in Aus now as part of environmental protections.

        • Colonial Brewing Co still have their cans that way though.
Whats the environmental issue with them?

          • +1

@elcap: Oh yeah, I may have mispoken; I forgot that the EPA is a state govt thing and I'm in NSW, can't speak to other states.

The issue with those cans is what happens to the pull top when it's removed. Since it's not conveniently attached to the can there's a much higher chance that it ends up just being tossed on the ground as litter, or lands in general waste rather than recycling.

          • +1

@elcap: I think new batches no longer do, but it was lack of supply rather than environmental (well that's that Colonial said)

          • +1

@elcap: That was it, Colonial Brewing.

In the item listing you'll see a demo with a balloon to test the sharpness of the inner parts of the can. Some images and a video to highlight the safety

  • +3

Cheaper on ebay.. By over $10

    • -4

Sorry honestly didnt know or check. Anyone in interested in the item please consider ebay in that case. If you want confidence in the seller, Banggoods a safe option

      • Overpriced and junk. No deal!

      • +1

Whilst posting, i believe one of the guideline does mention to be sure you've got the best deal before submitting..
Nways I think you knew the price mark ups on one of these.

      • +5

How is banggood objectively safer than eBay?

      • +1

When something says bang and good in the same sentence, it doesn't fill me with confidence.

      • The whole point of posting a deal is to check it’s the cheapest price before posting. Given this deal isn’t the lowest price it’s a neg.

  • +2

I'm not really sure why this type of product is needed. I'd be worried about metal shavings going into the drink.

  • +3

A product with no use, at a price higher than can be purchased elsewhere.
    Not a bargain unfortunately.

  • +8

Do you have any deals on left handed screwdrivers or dehydrated water?

  • Mintiml Bar Can Opener Only $US 10.70

Wa so cheap ONLY for OP.

  • +1

This seems cool. Even though it's not a bargain I'm glad I stumbled across this. I'll probably just order off eBay. Thanks OP

I bought a DraftTop.com one from a kickstarter for about $20. Excellent gadget, effective on all except Asahi 500ml cansthough fine with other .5l cans. The ebay one looks EXACTLY the same except branding. If you prefer to drink out of a glass it really does the trick , as well as being able to use a stubbie/can holder. Great for camping as the empty cans are easier to dispose of than stubbies.
The banggood one seems a slightly different design, I'm hoping it will pierce Asahi cans, so I'll give it a go.

  • TIL this product existing and i needed it - will try the ebay version linked above!

  • "enhances your drinking experience and allows you to do things with the can that you never thought you could" care to elaborate on the marketing hype, specially the last bit?

    • I've seen one brand of vodka soda's with tops that can be removed like this so that you can put a slice of lemon or whatever in the can, saves you a cup I suppose

"do things with the can that you never thought you could" is a strange way to put it but I guess it makes sense

      • I'm not a chemist but aluminium and lemon don't sound right…

  • +2

…this would be great if drink cans didnt already come with a convenient way to open and drink the contents within them already….!

  • Most cans are covered with a coating on the inside aren't they? Also a paint outside. Wouldn't the process of cutting introduce particulates into your drink?

  • The idea of the whole open top is smell enhances the experience by smelling the hops etc, not just having your nose 2mm from a dirty aluminium can lid.

The draft top (original one) had good reviews and the inner lip gets bent inwards so you dont cut your lip apparently, now that china has copied they'll be flooding aliexpress and ebay, so be interested how the quality differs. I was looking at one to get for my mate whos a beer snob as a cheap gift.

Lot of craft beers have the whole top opening and I prefer to drink them like this, but im not a beer (profanity). Also makes sense if you want to add things like lemon to your beer, rather than using a glass I guess. I dont think its a useless gadget and does have its place, probably in the drawer with most of my other crap I barely use to be honest :)
