  • Excludes APPLE?

    • Excludes some apple items, not this one though.

      • Ok good to know not all of them

        • Just for reference:

Excludes Apple Care, iPhones, iPads, Apple Watch and Apple Accessories

So this should work fine on Apple TV, Airpods and some other items.

  • +2

Does anyone know if we can pricematch officeworks?

    • Cant see why not?

    • +5

I believe they don’t price beat coupon offers.

      • +3

yeh they just told me this on the phone :(

  • nice. wish it had google assist :(

  • +1

    Code doesn't work :-(

    • Hmm, just worked for me

    • Working fine over here?

    • +1

Yeah I had to use incognito mode and it worked.

    • tried Mac & Windows chrome with no luck. Even incognito :(

  • worked fine for me!

  • Good deal thanks OP!

If there was a way to use this as a bluetooth speaker, I'd jump on it.

  • I was pretty happy to get my 2nd one at $299 now I'm tempted with a 3rd one.

    • Same here for a 3rd but should I wait till under $200 if that will ever happen

  • And looking good for incoming seamless Spotify integration?

  • Can someone confirm how you use these? - Does it just have to be Using Apple Music or can you air play anything to it?

    • +1

You can Airplay anything but it's got it's limitations (such as if something else happens on your iPhone which will disrupt the music).

      • +1

I thought airplay 2 got over this issue? Now it works uninterrupted like chromecast.

        • Have to admit I haven't tried in a while - I used to use my iPhone and airplay Spotify to the Homepod but every now and then it got interrupted, so I stopped.

        • yeah this is right, ie music airplay on homepod and sound from instagram or whatever comes through phone still

    • +1

      They have added Spotify Support
      you can also airplay

      • Thanks for your replies.

I'd love to get one but don't think I can justifiy the price.

        • $269.10 is better than $469 RRP
but yes… still a lot of a speaker with too many limitations

  • Can you use this with a iMac or MacBook as a speaker?

    • Yes, I use it with my MacBook

      • +1

So audio sync is ok for movies?

        • i'd like to know this as well? thinking about getting airplay 2 speakers for my macbook.

  • Thanks. Had to use incognito mode as suggested above.

As for why I bought one? I already have one which I bought at launch using EPP and whilst it is limited in terms of Siri vs Google, it's worked well for my purposes and the one thing which it is very good at is white noise… unlike the Google speakers which seem to just loop a one hour track (which can be disruptive for a baby as it goes soft/loud at the end). I used Apple Music before when it was free from Telstra for six months, but haven't renewed it since it didn't seem to add much value beyond Spotify so I'm glad that Apple is opening up for Spotify too.

  • +1

Hmm now do I cancel my Officeworks order or just pick it up too and have stereo

    • +1

I got one from OW before. Love it, but not loud enough for watching movies while kids are shouting at home =) so got the second one now to get stereo and hopefully louder sound.

  • +3

Did a quick google search and found Gummi Worms Shop have it for $238.40. Appears to be based in VIC. I just called OW direct and successfully did a price match for $226.48. Link below.

    https://gummiwormsshop.com/product/apple-homepod-space-grey/…

    • +1

You're lucky to get a price match as that website is known to be a scam.

    • +2

Yeah i am not sure this is a genuine comment
Gummi Worms Shop is on Officeworks list of stores they will not price match with.

      • Yeah either lucky or a scam comment to get people onto the site

      • +1

Righto guys, I don't disagree that the website looks shonky and would recommend against purchasing directly from them, but I had no problems price matching with OW. If the website was indeed banned by OW, the operator on the other end was obviously not informed.

        Won't know unless you try.

    • on call, trying my luck.

      • the site is on their black list - good luck

      • Let us know how you go

        • they said the SKU no doesn't match with their part no. so no luck for me. YMMV

          • +1

@hopper: My guy said the same but he'd "do it anyway." I'd try again, and hopefully you get someone with some common sense.

      • +2

Depends who you get. Many times I call get rejected, the call again until it goes through.
Otherwise try store. Same deal try different stores. Depends how much time you have and willingness to keep trying 🤪

    • +1

I have tried OW and it works smooth.
get $226.48 and waiting for it coming

      • DItto. 2 coming.

  • +3

    Thanks OP!
I always wanted to complete my HomePod stereo pair :)

  • Sound wise which is better.this or Google max.

    • Sound wise, the Apple.

      Connectivity, Google.

I have an iPhone so no brainer for me.

    • +2

Depends on what you prefer - detail and clarity this is much better. Home max gets louder but lacks a lot of detail especially at lower volumes.
This is my experience having owned both - sound is subjective YMMV

      • I agree with your comments on the Max. I added an original Google Home, which fills in the midrange. Then I added another Max, couldn’t resist, and paired in stereo mode. The stereo separation puts it in another realm entirely. I have one Max at either end of the room so you really notice the separation. Original home still fills in the midrange, which is badly needed at low volumes.

  • I really recommend it! I have 03 units as multi-room in my place and love it. Bought each unit for AU$299,00 and was worth it. Sound quality is superb. Connectivity between all of them is amazing with no delay.
I also have the new LG soundbar LG SN11RG and "for music" homepad is MUCH better. The downside is that homepod is terrible as TV speakers (volume is too low, no surround, just stereo) but as a speaker for music is unbeatable, specially in stereo mode.

    • I think these have good sound compared to similar products, but I think "superb" sound quality is a bit of an exaggeration. I played the same music through homepod and my real speakers and the bass in particular is not very good. Like a lot of these speakers, the bass is very boomy and not "tight" at all.

      Still… I guess it's <$300 and my real speakers were >$10k!

      • +1

Have you tried 2 of them as a stereo pair? The bass is much deeper when they're paired, and the max volume is much more generous too. I've got a couple in my living room and they're superb. And now I have two more… argh.

Space Gray is the better colour too in my opinion. The white one kind of always looks "dirty" to me because of the way the mesh looks.

        Amazing price, thanks OP

      • I found that placement was really important with the HomePod, depending on where I put it the bass could be thin or boomy but when you find that sweet position for the HomePod the bass really is superb (for it's size)

    • +1

I use two homepods In stereo configuration to work with my Apple TV 4K - excellent output. Personally like it better than my Bose soundbar
      - HomePod create better surround, better dialogue clarity and more detail.
My room size is ~4mx 4m.

      • I was previously using my Homepod for the same thing with my Apple TV. It syncs it perfectly without lag and sounded really good even though it was just one speaker. I bought a second Homepod with this deal but am planning to use it for the nursery since the white noise is nice and loud/clear without any volume changes like the Google speakers.

Just as a heads up, I think concierge credit came out today and you are able to use on it (if you have membership) so price delivered was $257.10, might be worth checking messages/email.

    • ARGH!!! Literally came just after I ordered.

      • Store was willing to let me refund/buy again with the $20 concierge credit.

        • I received my concierge a few months back but got a email saying I could put it on hold till July which I did but haven’t received it back yet. Did anyone else do this and has gotten theirs back?

  • Additionally thanks OP !

  • +3

I didn't expect to be buying a HomePod today, but here I am. Thanks OP!

    • -1

i did not think id be buying 2 today either :)

      • +1

Now that I've picked mine up I wish I'd bought two :(

    • Well I decided to buy 2 !

  • These sounds amazing. Only problem is that it only work with Apple. Can't even use it as a Bluetooth speaker. I was looking to get 1 to use as a PC speaker until I found out it won't work. Had to go with the Google Home Max and doesn't sound as good as this

    • +1

Perhaps you could tweak your PC's EQ settings.

  • Got one! Thanks!

  • Thanks OP. Anyone think price will come down more if new/smaller version released?! ;-) Prob not if smaller/different v2.

    • +1

I wouldn't be surprised if a new one came in at around the price of this deal TBH. Given they'd still want to position the Homepod as the more premium offering, I don't think a smaller version would be superior in sound quality which still leaves the Homepod as a great value speaker if you don't mind the Apple ecosystem (until the next OS update) and limitations of Siri.

      • yeh my thoughts too, unless found some clearance etc prices on the current v1, prob not much prospect of further price drop on the premo model

  • The real EOFY sale starts now.

    • +1

End of Australian Economy sale - fixed that for you.. (mildly sad that I'd love to get one and normally would also jump on this but not being more cautious in which ozbargains to use..)

  • +2

I have one of these - I use it all the time and the sound quality is amazing. At this price it's a steal!

  • Tried office works and they wouldn't price match :(

  • +3

Grabbed one of these from Carignbah today, been playing with it the last hour. Short review, WOW. I didn't expect it to sound this good, just stupid bass extension for a speaker for this size. Placement makes a big difference too, try it a few spots around the room to find the sweet spot. I find up placing it up higher works better than down low.

    • +2

Wait til you hear a set paired in stereo mode!

      • Haha I'm really, really tempted !

    • +2

Did you know it uses accelerometers to detect if you move it and it'll automatically retune itself based on the new position/walls/etc around it? https://www.macobserver.com/tips/quick-tip/homepod-recalibra…

      • What the hell that's crazy! No I didn't know that, thanks!

  • Now this is a frigging good price!!!Thanks for sharing

  • Not available now

  • Have three now, thanks OP. One for the bedroom.

  • -3

I bough this one to place on my room. but too much bass and louder than other speaker. so replaced to Sonos One. This Apple speaker is totally different with other high end speakers. Bass is toooooo muscchchchhhh storner.

  • Went instore and got one thanks OP!

  • +1

Went in store and they price match for $226.48, but no stock in store so I have to wait until 28 July to pick it up in store.

  • can anyone confirm if I can use this to watch youtube movie or music? is there any delay?
