This is meant to be the successor to the X390 so it's meant to be Lenovo's premium 13 inch ultraportable. Don't think I ever saw the X390 this cheap.

Good 100%sRGB/72% NTSC screen. The 6c/12t Ryzen Pro processor on the base model is plenty fast, considerably faster than than the i7 Intels or the Ryzen 4500U you get in other laptops. Integrated graphics are on par with a NVIDIA MX250 so ok for light GPU work or eSports gaming

Upgrades are cheaper with the code too. RAM is soldered so get as much as you need now. Up to 32GB option available with the Ryzen 7

Don't forget cashback!

X and T series are real Thinkpads, the E series is pseudo-Thinkpad.

  • Is it better to use Cashrewards or Shopback for Lenovo?

What warranty option did you go with?

    • 2 years On-site. Tried my luck with Shopback offering 13% for LenovoPro and business customers.

      • Do you have a pro or business account with Lenovo?

        • I have a LenovoPro account.

  • Anyone with experience ordering from Lenovo, how long did it take to arrive if you customised?

  • good deal ruined by lack of backlit keyboard for me.

    • +1

You can configure it with backlit keyboard for additional $35.

Learn to type without looking at the keyboard. It's a fantastic life skill.

you can always DIY the old school method just like the ThinkLight on the T420.

  • Would this be any good for photoshop and some video editing? or any other suggestion in the $1500 price range. There's so many to choose from in the lenovo store. Mostly gaming and business.

It'll do. Particularly with some extra ram and maybe the 4750U.

It's a thin/light laptop though, if you don't mind something heavier with a H series chip (and maybe more expensive) it'd better. Depends how serious you are and what you need

  • Thanks! Just bought one

    Upgrade to Ryzen 7
    32gb ram
    backlit keyboard
    touch screen
    fingerprint reader

    • How did you manage to get 32Gb?
I could only see a 16gb upgrade option.

      • +2

You have to upgrade to the Ryzen 7 option to see the 32gb option.

    • how much extra did you pay?

  • its an extra $140 to upgrade from 16gb to 32gb.
is it worth the extra upgrade? I already have a pretty beefy desktop with 32gb, so the laptop isn't going to be my main work rig or used for any heavy productivity work loads, with the exception of occasional VM testing. would ideally like the machine to last me at least 5 years.

    • In my opinion, 16gb should meets your needs.

  • Just received it today. I ordered 16G ram and it is dual channel. Similar weight to my old dell xps 13 9350 - 1.28kg. It is about 1cm deeper than the dell and thicker also. Build quality seems good magnesium chassis. Only ordered the 256Gb drive (samsung mzvlb256hbhq-000l7) , not sure if there is another m2 slot. Nice and quite.

    • Keep us updated on how you feel with it today.

      Any regrets?

      • regret purchase due to a pretty dim screen. ah my ageing 40+ yr old eyes deserves a better and brighter screen.

    • I dont think there is another ssd slot, however some of the previous thinkpad versions had wwan slot which fit the 2242 variant nvme m2 ssd.
But, not sure if x13 supports it.

  • Anybody received theirs and have tried upgrading the nvme?

I'm having trouble opening the back cover. Front area under the touchpad seem so stuck. Perhaps some sticky glue or special clips?

    edit:
a tad annoyed about the screen as it is not too bright even cranked full.

    • nvm read the service manual. unscrew then slide cover to disengage plastic hook. wala.

edit: btw screen is rubbishly bordering to too dim even for indoor use. i wouldn't buy this model on that note.

    • UPDATE: Screen can be controlled by turning off VariBright on the Radeon settings.
Screen is pretty bright in my mates X13 unit.

Unfortunately my screen turned out to be a Lemon and awaiting for parts (good for nothing Priority onsite nbd service)
